Thairath reported some more on the story.
Pol Col Thitisan Utthanapho was interviewed by police in front of the press via microphone at 20.30 Thai time, 26/08/21.
He admitted his guilt but said he was just trying to get results in a drug investigation and made a mistake and accidently killed him.
He said it's not true he tried to extort 2 million baht from the deceased, as had been reported in the news.
He decided to give himself up when he saw his subordinates being arrested on the news and felt sorry for them. The media speculation had left him feeling so stressed he'd considered suicide.
He apologised for damaging the reputation of the police and said he just fled due to being frightened and to gather his wits.

One important thing i learned was not to learn the order of consonants in the order they teach them in schools (as it makes no sense),

It does if you want to look up words in a Thai dictionary.

  3. They had some more details in yesterday's Khaosod news.
The car driver, 36 year-old Setawud Phadeeun, confessed to the incident and said he will pay for all damages. As I understood it from the article, Setawud claimed it was sparked by the 49 year-old Grab driver getting in his way and cutting him up with her vehicle. He was also stressed about his electrical sales business and was just on the way to collect 30K Baht owed to him from a client.
At one point the Grab driver started rebuking him, causing him to lose it, get out the car and hit her on the head with his gun before fleeing the scene. He claimed it was an air gun (BB gun).
Setawud said he initially didn't realise it was a woman and thought it was a man.
She required 12 stitches for her head injury.
There's a small clip of him at the police station (shirt on this time), where for some reason he bought along his baby daughter.

  4. Is it different prices for the same product on the same link?
I was reading an article about that a couple of days ago. Apparently big companies website's can detect the computer you're using and charge you more if they think you're rich.

"Unscrupulous firms that gather large quantities of customer data, including information that helps them estimate someone’s wealth by detecting the computer they are using, are also likely to face a clampdown.
James Daley, managing director of consumer group Fairer Finance, said: ‘It is totally unacceptable to penalise people based on the type of computer they’re using. It is a way to use data to exploit consumers just because they’ve had the money to buy a more expensive computer – but they could have been gifted it and be of moderate means.’

Er..that sounds like a faff-around. Why not just use the Thai tone rules? With them you can work out the tone of any Thai word from its spelling.

Err, think you mustn't have fully read my earlier post, in which I posted:

"While I can work out the syllable tones with reasonable accuracy, I want to be 100% correct."

What makes you think the Thai tone rules aren't correct?
There are a some irregular words like ตำรวจ but they are few and far between.

As KeeTua said, you should be getting away from transliteration and using Thai script.

  6. Feel the same about watching football live vs watching it at home on TV - would much rather watch it at home.
Watching it live invariably involves the schlep down to the ground and back, uncomfortable seats, poor views, chance of an altercation from opposing fans etc.
Much better off in the comforts of your own home with drinks and food freely on tap.
