What is asean law ??? I think you need to re-educate yourself or educate me with where you get this info about teacher pay. The agreements between members of the asean block of countries are not laws but negotiated agreements on trade, tariffs and employment issues to make a large economic block like the EU to help improve se Asia's competitiveness in local and world markets. I dont think it will change the landscape for teachers much if at all. If anything I see the phillipinos and others more interested in taking over the tourism industry (lots of money there), tourism in thailand could def use a change in management. I also see thailand opting out of most of the asean agreement due to its inability to compete in any industry with other asean members.

Thats the standard way of saying I dont know and cant tell you what the problem is, must be your router from thai isp's. Have to go above them to get it checked and fixed.

Lets look at reality, there isnt much personal, property or income tax collected in thailand, so where does all of the money come from to provide a basically socialist state ? you guessed it corporate and import taxes. By the way if you can afford an expensive car good for you but dont brag about it, thats when you start to look cheap no matter how much money you have.

I wouldnt spend another baht in that store just on principal. Sadly like everything in thailand, compassion costs money.

So the company is selling the revenue from the business they own to a new company they own ??? Am I missing something here ? And please dont quote costs from us light rail systems to those in thailand, thats a joke to compare the cost and quality between the two.

Gee I hope someday to have such insight into the thai system to call myself khun. You should get out of your gated community more often and realize this is thai justice and the way it works for everyone rich and poor. Most thais dont care about justice because they dont know anything about it, thats not the system they were raised in. Again another farang beating his western valued chest about these savages not doing the right thing.

So I guess the clocks on each cam were synced perfectly to get this time you mention ??? lol yeah buddy, another tv expert. Some of you need to get real this is thailand and like I said before if this kind of corruption bothers you so much you really shouldnt be here. Doesnt matter if you are rich or poor here you can buy your way out of anything, and im betting if this was your son you wouldnt be so high and mighty about it. So go pay your 200 baht to the cops again and brag about your well connected friends you use to circumvent the system here (like everyone does), but quit picking on the guy just because he has money.

Not defending this kid but you cant charge him with being under the influence when he wasnt tested until hours after the crash, wouldnt have a chance in any court, speeding ? prove it first, not with some cheap chinese uncalibrated camera info. Yes he is guilty of manslaughter and maybe reckless public endangerment but thats about it. And he will walk with a fine and a suspended sentence thats the way it works here, if you havent figured that out about thailand you really shouldnt be here.

Dont want to be negative but i taught and lived in kalasin for one year and didnt renew my contract because of the lack of things to do and sheer boredom. Luckily you have family there and they will hopefully keep you company. There are lots of festivals all the time and markets to eat at. They have a big tesco now too. I have been in issan for 5 years now and will be leaving soon, I cant say I didnt have some good times here but lets get real, there is a big world out there and issan isnt part of it.

This mess cannot in any way be fixed due to the total failure of the structural integrity of the building. The leaning tower of pisa comparison is just plain stupid as it has no internal structural defects. A wrecking ball is the only option at this point, no way to implode it either because of the internal damage. It will be old news tomorrow and no one will be held responsible.

Too many of you are trying to simplify high speed rail, anything is considered hsr over thailands current system. Rail cost is measured in freight miles per ton, so different delivery times are charged accordingly. The highest cost for shippers we had were the z-classified trains which were intermodal trains, they were given track time priority to get to their destination the fastest, but they cost much more and had guaranteed delivery times compared to say coal or box cars, they would go in a siding while the z-train passed by without stopping. The problem is thailand cannot in any way justify the cost of any hsr system being a small poor country without a market for it. The money they are talking about spending would buy a new vastly expanded rail system with new engines, cars and wider gauge rail to carry more tonnage cheaper which would benefit thailands future logistics opportunities from the asean agreements. By the way you cant run heavy cost effective tonnage trains on true high speed rail systems, it just doesnt work due to wear and tear on the rails.

An article I read recently said the reason for the shutdown is to stabilize the platform bases, and this scheduled maintenance was known and told to thailand a year ago (contract agreements), so no reason for this mess other than the usual thai do nothing attitude until it is too late.

As a former long term employee of BNSF railway in america I think I can debunk most of this bs about high speed rail for commodities. First of all rail freight is never high speed due to the costs involved, trains schedules are categorized due to shipping priority, coal and grain are low on the scale while consumer and industrial goods rate higher. The fastest trains (not talking speed, but delivery time) are intermodal, truck trailers on rail cars. Rail is mainly used for bulk commodity shipments that trucks cannot haul long distance cost effectively. Thailand is too small a country and economy to spend this kind of money on high speed rail (even for passengers). The money would be much better spent upgrading the rail system and equipment, allowing economic growth along with lower transportation costs.

You seem to be quite an <deleted> in every post you make.

The agent is playing both sides of the fence here def. Just remember you are falang and he will side with the thai. I would never wait three months for a sale from a thai, (shit or get off the pot they say) they will just walk away when they find a better deal and when they do good luck trying to get any satisfaction from the justice system (non existent) here on their failure to complete the sale signed documents or not.

Did I say One <deleted>*&ing thing to compare chinese quality to jap cars ???? Its a fact these cars are unsafe in crash safety tests in the us canada australia uk europe etc. Do you think that airbag will save you when the door panel crushes in on you or the motor comes into your lap or the roof panel caves in ??? Go ahead buy one but when you or a family member dies in a crash dont come on tv crying about it. There is a reason they are cheaper than other cars be they Japanese, euro or american and its not labor costs.

Cherry and a few other chinese brands have tried to enter the us market for years but can never meet the crash tests required by the gov, granted the standards are high but come on we are talking peoples lives here for a little extra engineering and cost. I would never buy one no matter how much money I saved.

What about a dehumidifier(quality)on a timer(quality) running to a floor drain ?

Way wrong ^ All refrigeration systems are sealed once installed. (You think manufacturers build them to leak ???) Lets talk refrigerant not freon, the majority of existing units in use in thailand (home units) use r-22 which is not banned in thailand, some countries have banned the manufacture of new supplies meaning you just have to recycle your old gas to use it. Yes there are flare type fittings but if they are leaking its not normal or acceptable. Find the leak using a spray bottle with soapy water or spray kitchen cleaner, try to tighten it, if that doesnt work cut the fitting off re-flare the pipe and leak solved. They will prob just charge what they think they can get from you to recharge your unit without finding your leak. My house had a leaky unit, checked all the fittings and found the schrader fill valve seal had failed causing the leakage replaced it and went to do home and bought my own gauges and a 13KG tank of R-22 for about 2200B. Just remember if your unit does use 400 series gas you CAN NOT use r-12-22-134a gauge sets as 400 series gases run at higher pressures than the older series gases. My 13K btu unit uses 654 grams of r-22 so i can fill many systems for that money spent.

The only problem with getting around is the streets are jammed with people partying, traffic just doesnt move. Better to stay around your hotel and walk everywhere. Get a good plastic bag for your wallet, camera, and phone, the minute you step outside you will be soaked.

Most falangs pay for private health care plans so they can go to the better private hospitals, sure beats waiting for hours to see a doctor. My one friend his wife is a nurse, so is mine we both are under the gov health care system. The other friend's wife is an ex-teacher who retired long ago. I dont know the specifics as the wives take care of thai related affairs. Many falangs married to thais qualify for gov health care but im guessing your wife doesnt look too hard due to the fact she likes the private system better and you can afford it. Another thing most falangs that put down gov hospitals is they do not realize the doctor you see in the gov hospital works in his off hours at the private hospitals, but keep their gov job for the added perks and pension.

A very sad situation indeed not uncommon in thailand actually. To the people saying the op can afford giving 200K because he has a good job you sound like thais, oh you rich falang with money tree in back yard, no problem for you. He worked hard to make his money and isnt required to deprive his family of 200K which he will need someday himself just because another person has a problem. Honestly I cant see with failing kidneys, and being overweight an honest doctor doing heart surgery as the odds of complications and failure of the procedure would be very high, I seriously doubt if he would make it off the table. Another question I would add (not knowing if we are talking bypass, stents, valve repair or even replacement)is the costs quoted for the surgery seem high, Is this quote from KK ram or the heart center at srinkarin which I think would be much cheaper, I have friends who use the heart center and speak highly of it and by the way they are married to thais and are covered by the thai health care system (why isnt he ? something I would def. ask the wife). I am guessing the price is so high due to all of the combined factors. Unfortunately we all are living on borrowed time after a certain age and just have to make the best of what we have left and accept the end. Take care of your family first as they are the most important thing in the world.

Aircon, Why Cleaning And Paying For Useless Maintenance Twice A Year ?
in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership

Yes cleaning your outside condenser coil is a good thing once a year or so for max efficiency, but unless you are using a proper acid based cleaning solution you are just pissing in the wind. Inside unit cleaning is useful also due to the high amount of particulate matter present in the air in thailand, def helps to cut down on sinus problems if you use your air con alot.
