  1. You seem like a nice guy scott but you live in the the upper level private school system in bkk which represents a very small percentage of the thai school system. And I firmly believe you think people are being honest but as falangs employed here in thailand sometimes we tend to develop a bubble around ourselves due to self preservation of our positions and families. I have been there myself, but it doesnt change the facts of the rampant corruption and bribery in the school system that even the thais will admit to.

  2. For a shed I am going to build will use steel stud and shera wood with flat angled fiber roof, steel studs for rafters too, no somchai welding needed. Goes up fast and easy. All I will pay labor for is concrete floor, laying concrete sucks lol. With the steel studs you could even insulate/sheetrock it and make a nice ac hideaway.

  3. There are two ways to use cooking oil for fuel. Usng it straight you need to filter it before use then have a heat exchanger fuel tank fed from your radiator to thin it out to get thru your fuel pump and injectors, you first start and run on diesel tank until your waste oil tank reaches temp then switch over to oil. Yes having two fuel tanks is the reason I never bothered with it. The other way is to convert to biodiesel. The oil can be burnt to hell, your yield of biodiesel after the conversion-reaction process will just be less.

  4. You were fired unjustly not because of your teaching or actions outside the classroom, they had budgeted for a 12 month contract which was funded by the MOE. They fired you to put that months salary in their pockets, for this reason alone i would file a complaint with the labor dept just so they have to kick some of that money to them to make the problem go away.

  5. Just wondering, green 91 is 10% alcohol while e20 is 20% why would you consider e20 if you think green 91 is going to harm your engine ? The more % of alcohol in your fuel the lower your mileage due to alcohol having lfewer btu's per unit used. There is a reason e85 is so much cheaper. I have a 97 fuel injected car I have put over 40k (total miles120k) on using only green 91 not one problem. Too much misinformation out there on gasohol. Also you wont be happy with lpg when the subsidies end soon except for cooking gas.

  6. Let me clarify in case of a misunderstanding, most westerners who come to the northeast cant make it here due to the reasons they came to thailand, This isnt pattaya, phuket or chang mai etc.. Personally I enjoy a quiet and laid back lifestyle. Although it was much better before central plaza and the building boom we have experienced the last 3 years causing traffic to get so bad. One more off to college and we will prob go farther east around roi-et/kuchinarai.

  7. 100k per Month hahahahahahahahahaha come on mr kk guru tell us where is this gold mine ??? I have lived here for 5 years and seen bars and restaurants come and go farang and thai, some like erics and leos are still there but the owners change like underwear. The best farang restaurant in town is for sale started at 3 mil down to 600k and still cant find a buyer. Most of the owners come and buy then wait till their money runs out trying to keep it open then find another fool to buy it (theres gold in them rice fields in khon kaen). Udon or nong khai might have better luck I dont go there much. Neversure you are right it is damn hot here most of the time, and basically khon kaen is pretty boring for most, thats why you dont have many long term expats living here or a market for them.

  8. How did a topic about real estate sales turn into a farang bashing episode ??? The fact is this aint the uk if you want to buy or sell property here by yourself and think you know all about thai people and how things work here go for it. Like I said before the only thing that matters is what will end up in the op's pocket at the end of the sale.I will add your ex must be dumber than a box of rocks as any self respecting thai woman would attack your company structure and pay off the locals to take it all from you and give them their cut and leave you with nothing.

  9. Im not your mate, Yes my wife has 3 kids and she would never be foolish enough for US to be extorted for 200K for a kindergarten program or any school program. By the way its not "one off here" on anything, once you are marked as a farang with open pockets they will just keep asking for more. Wait and see.

  10. 200,000 for a kindergarten program ? come on, you didnt question that ???. The only extra money you should pay is for english programs or private schools where the extra money pays for nes teachers/curriculum and ac. Anything else is bullshit and is not going to get your kid a better education. It never ceases to amaze me the farangs i meet here that are too lazy to tutor their own children. Send em to a thai program (almost free) to socialize and teach them math, english or your native language etc. at home. There are also tons of western schools now with quality accredited online programs to choose from also. Dont feed the corrupt thai education system.

  11. Ummm shorter term loans have higher payments duh. The house is collateral yes but if a bank gets stuck with it and has to eat any depreciation or damage repairs or a second mortgage then yes there is a reason for insurance. In my home country you wont get a loan without insurance, in fact they will force it on your payment. And I damn sure dont want my wife or kids to be burdened with a house payment she cant make because i was too cheap to pay 80k for the protection and security it provides them if i die. But then most farangs i have known in thailand dont give a shit about anything but themselves.

  12. What exactly is the detrimental impact on the uk from imposing immigration rules that require a person to show that they can provide for themselves and their families without having the uk taxpayer be finacially responsible for them ??? Is it someones human right to expect the uk taxpayer to pick up their living costs just because they wish to live in a better country ???

  13. I went to the dealership yesterday and looked and got a brochure to compare specs to the tata, but didnt see anything about a crew or double cab model availible in thailand. I would love to have one of those long bed hyundai double cabs you see everywhere in lao. Hopefully this weekend we can drive a tata around for a bit and get a feel for it. JefferyMcCollum seems to be happy with his which is a good sign
