  1. Even in the BBC we had

""That there was corruption is undeniable; there is plenty of evidence. The generous subsidy was also financially unsustainable."

    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-30928835

From the same article, the following sentence in fact :

[...]Nor were Ms Yingluck's opponents able to explain how impeachment was possible against a politician who has already been removed from office, and by an assembly entirely appointed by the military. So this was not about corruption, or the rule of law. [...]

  2. The ammart have made a big mistake by inserting an ugly and ill-tempered simpleton. Thai people are charmed by good looks & a mild manner.

True, true, good looks and mild manner can get away with murder, 700 billion Baht losses, lying and cheating.

'rule of law' has no meaning for those especially when they're also Amply Rich and have a big, caring brother.

The rule of law (also known as nomocracy) is the legal principle that law should govern a nation, as opposed to decisions by individual government officials.

A kangaroo court of hand picked military brasses and officials is the polar opposite of 'rule of law' however many times you repeat it.

  3. History will see him as a savor of Thailand and truth be known there will be a 20 ft statue to honor him in Chiang Mai.

    Haha....

My business partner (who I respect dearly) is the head of the yellow shirts in my area, he's a sensible guy who wants the greater good for Thailand, his wife however is a crazy Hiso who hysterically shouts all wide eyed whenever there is a discussion... you remind me of the latterclap2.gif

Wikileaks revealed Suthep's own camp complains about his corruption... you believe he's a saint you are no different than the people who make Thaksin a hero... you don't know it but you are two sides of the same coin, both part of the problem not the solution.

  4. It's kind of curious though, how AFP always mentions the rice pledging scheme as funneling money to Thaksin's base among NE farmers. But somehow, they conveniently seem to forget it was YL's government's failure to actually pay those farmers what they were owed that led to a lot of the protests at the time.

It was Thaksin's OTHER supporters and cronies -- not the common people farmers -- who didn't end up having to wait months to get their substantial serving from the gravy train.

While others will conveniently forget it was the street protests, disruption of elections and threats of legal backlash that meant Thai commercial bank withheld the loans.

It was the law that meant the Thai commercial banks withheld their loans. A care-taker government is not allowed to take on new debt. The banks are not allowed to give loans to care-taker governments.

Look at firestar's join date. Now, look how active he has just become. Troll? I think so. I refuse to answer him as he is always making loose and non-factual statements.

    Then don't.

If you did please explain how the street protest didn't lead to Yingluck's caretaker status in the first place, or how Suthep didn't threaten the banks while there was still some debate over the loans or how the PDRC didn't sometimes just resort to outright violence to impede the sale of rice http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/protesters-stall-rice-auction

  5. Will make it all the more amusing when a Thaksin affiliated party wins the next election.

Oh, we thought of that. The requirements in the Constitution will be enhanced a bit. It will exclude political parties affiliated, or owned / managed by known criminals. I think even in Italy the Mafia is not allowed to be politically involved, a field trip seems in order smile.png

Awww that's a cute but I think you'll find a different mafia will be quietly running the country . One that has enough power never to be convicted.

  6. 180 to 18 , well the NLA is not loaded one way then is it. Shame on them and their anti democratic masters

    310 - 0

    310 - 0.

    180 - 18

    180 - 18

Which one do you think is more democratic????

Thank you for highlighting why reform is needed.

<EDIT> I got to add this one.

The 310 - 0 was to represent the wishes of an accused mass murderer, accused terrorist and convicted criminal fugitive that is unelectable….

The 180 - 18 vote was voted for by the people that think the vote above was not a representation of the majority...

So even the Junta, who never purported to be democratic show through their voting they are more democratic that the PTP why purport to be democratic...

Have a democratic day my dear friend and I hope I can buy you a reconciliation beer at the TV bar next week.

    One more.

One more poster who can't see the difference between a whole National Assembly and an individual party.

A National Assembly is suppose to represent all citizens whereas an individual party it's voters, a party who votes has forces of opposition: other parties, the senate etc. An Individual Party more often than not in democratic countries adheres to party lines. Whole National Assemblies only in Burma, North Korea...

    Unbelievable coffee1.gif

  7. How can Yingluck be impeached when she isn't in office and no one has been tried never mind convicted yet?

not even moderate "yellows" think this is good news. it just shows that after months of trying General Prayuth gave in to hardliners and went ahead.

Decades more of color coded politics is what awaits, but the TV yellow crazies won't mind they'll cheer like it's a football game.

How can she be impeached? Didn't you watch the news?

'rule of law', holding a former PM to her responsibilities and accountability. Only crazies seem to have a problem with that.

Haha.... I won't even go into your trolling, if you want accountability please google "Suthep palm oil" and ask yourself why he is left alone.

Anyway, apart from the fact you didn't care much about "the rule of law" when ballot votes where hijacked you haven't answered the question:

Impeachment is the removal of an official, how can the NLA impeach someone who isn't currently an official?

  9. 180 to 18 , well the NLA is not loaded one way then is it. Shame on them and their anti democratic masters

This was all cut and dried neatly packaged and rubber stamped. The 18 that voted against will no doubt be shunned.

The 18 will be just fine.

The powers that be didn't want a repeat of the 99% in favor vote that got them mocked by the foreign press last time.

Lesson learned, have to keep up appearances.

  10. I'm sure her brother did very well out of the scheme........his wealth jumped some 30 billion over the past couple of years

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

His total worth is estimated at $1.7 billion, mostly from the sale of AIS and nowhere near the richest Thai anymore.

Hmmm.... any source for your estimate?

  11. 180 to 18 , well the NLA is not loaded one way then is it. Shame on them and their anti democratic masters

Is that anything like a 310 to 0 vote by the PTP on the bill to give Thaksin, Abhisit, Suthep and 25,000 + people accused of corruption (and themselves also) a pardon?

Shame on the PTP and its anti democratic master.

PTP is an individual party not a National Assembly can't you see the difference??

Yes I can. At the time the PTP government was ruling the country and attempting to do just about anything it wanted.

    The NLA isn't.

If the PTP was "ruling the country" why did the bill follow the proper channels go to the senate and was voted down?

If PTP "ruled the country" surely they would have the power, like the NCPO, to suspend the constitution and force it through.

You still can't see the difference between voting as an individual party and a National Assembly? Unbelievable. clap2.gif
