  1. If I say jump, you say how high!

Did someone say jump onto a plane to Thailand in order to find for work they were unqualified for or unable to find in their own countries?

Doubt any course will do much to "cure" the negativity and antipathy to Thai people often exhibited by the condescending posters on TV, including the posters who are already teaching here or actively scrounging for jobs (or just an excuse for a visa) and I imagine many teachers already think they know everything, but maybe a few will actually be able to learn something.

Educators who are reluctant to learn more about the students they teach or who assume they know everything they'll ever need to know should be culled from their jobs. Every education system has in-service learning as a part of teacher growth and skill enhancement.

I don't think anybody would be saying anything if it had to do qualifications or learning/

This is more like "attitude adjustment" for the whole of the foreign teaching body.

  2. Don't worry when Daniel Russell reports to Obama

" How did that airhead get a degree from a USA University ? We must improve the pass level for degrees eg be able to speak English and answer questions just not repeat prepared statements"

" Without buying an election with a Rice Scam, nobody would have elected these morons'

" No wonder these PTP leaders are facing a string of criminal charges, they are just straight out liars "

It is cute of you to fantasize about an imaginary dialogue that fits your views but the reality of what he ACTUALLY said is very different wai.gif

  3. So do you think she directly profited or took money via the rice scheme ??

Its easy, ask her? During her short time in office, her personal fortune and assets almost trebled, and we are talking billions and billions of baht.

Just ask her to prove where all this new found wealth came from......

    Trebled. billions and billions.

Hmmm.... according to the anti-graft agency (can't accuse them of pro-Yinluck bias) her fortune increased about 5% while in office, mostly from stocks she holds firms, including SC Asset Corporation, which rose in value during her tenure.

  4. Well other possibilities more like some here prefer might be "we cut her throat for sure", "one down, a few more to go", "done, look what a nice result", "cut a Shinawatra, make a picture (and sell to the newspapers)".

Oh, and relief that it was done and the NLA can go on with its normal work.

    Much more likely ::2cents::

  5. Wow, views are climbing fast, I wonder how long before it is blocked in Thailand? whistling.gif

    Wasn't it broadcasted live ?

I don't think they were expecting to still be filmed.

There is no TV channel logo on the footage not sure if the laughter and cut throat motions went out live or if a camera was still rolling and whoever was shooting thought what he was seeing was of interest to the general public.

The 'throat cutting' motion I've seen before in situations signifying "it's done', but also "stop the camera", "it's finished, time to go". With 123 votes required, but actually 190 voting for impeachment, all of the four could apply.

Now if only we could add a soundtrack with some damning words or sentences rolleyes.gif

He's doing cut throat motions and pointing at the board, while laughing and telling his buddy to take more pictures.

You think it could mean "stop the camera"?!?

Clearly you must be trolling? smile.png

  6. Actions of 'good and fair' administrators with good intention?

  7. In my opinion it was a good and fair decision, based on facts and not political sentiments.

As about the ongoing reconciliation process, I believe it will take many years to cure the wounds the previous politicians have inflicted to the Thai people.

But I'm confident, with the good strategy and intention of this Government, that this can be achieved.

    Of course it wasn't....whistling.gif

    The Nation:

"Those hoping that the junta would act impartially to lead the country through major reforms and reconciliation would be disappointed if the stage has already been set already for Yingluck to be impeached. The connection and influence of the junta and NLA is undeniable. General Somchet Boonthanom was quoted as describing both as "like father, like son."

what does it matter that the Junta impeached her, Any other assembly in any country would have done so. She was guilty without doubt and deserved impeachment. Whats the point of criticizing the result?

Nope. She wouldn't have been in front of an assembly in the first place. Impeachment is the process of removing (or not) an active official from office. How can she be impeached when she isn't an active official and nobody has been tried never mind convicted, but it doesn't matter right? As long as you Gamini and the Junta find her guilty.

  10. I first got here about 6 years ago, and Thailand was in a huge turmoil. I thought then, wow I came at a bad time. Now looking back in 6 years nothing has changed? LOL

It's like a broken movie real that keeps playing over and over. All I can figure is Thai's love this kind of stuff.

There was a great opportunity to do things differently this time around, unfortunately it seems like ultimately the hardliners got the upper hand. you're in for years more of color politics.

  11. The next election may see new faces, attitudes and more realistic/honest political parties on the stump and maybe even a crossro0ads for them to choose how to best avert getting in bed with the devil for personal gain, but instead to work for the good of the country/population as a whole.

We will have to read the new constitution but all indicates the next parliament will have very limited powers.

Which means the same VERY OLD faces who've ruled Thailand for 70 years except for to the small Thaksin hiatus will still be pulling the same strings.

  12. The old lie that Korn said they spent more money to buy votes doesn't get any more true with time. In the interview that I know you are basing your maybe second or third hand account on (if it's a first hand account it doesn't speak well of you) he said the Puea Paending Party had spent more money than PPP in campaigning, not vote buying.

You expected him to directly implicate his own party or the Puea Paending ?

These are his exact words : " If you sold (not campaigning - sold ) your vote it is still your decision in the ballot box....at the end of the day we cannot go against the will of the people and no amount of money will"

Interestingly he talks about individual MP buying, and some will recall how Abhisit managed to get his majority whistling.gif

  13. No no no!

Man up and stand by your illegal military junta decision !

No deals let the world see you for what you really are. And throw her ass in jail!

You've stacked the deck got the kangaroo court so bloody use it! No sense in handing out amnesties while you have all this power!

Throw all PTP members and their supporters in jail and then hold an election then you might just get the yellows over the line but I doubt it.

So in your opinion it was completely legal not to pay the farmers for their rice?

In you opinion is it legal to cut power supply at the Commerce Ministry forcing auctions to be put off?

    http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/protesters-stall-rice-auction

Is it legal to threaten banks to ensure farmers can't get paid?

  14. It wasent Suthep whom started the protests it was a group of students. Why did the protests star? Over to you studder.

If by "students" you mean the ultra-nationalist vocational school students yes.

The same students who combine with the Srivichai "warriors" and southern rubber farmers to provide security for every one of Suthep's stunts.

  15. Starting August 2nd, 2014 with 200 members including 24 former Senators, September 27th saw 28 more members added which, with 8 having 'gone' already, filled the 220 as desired by the Interim Constitution. Most newcomers seemed military or business people.

No info found yet on how many former senators are member of the current NLA. Also lacking a list of 'the group of 40' senators I cannot compare, so no answer as yet. May be you could also do some searching?

Anyway, clear evidence and no answers in defence, even baboons would have voted to impeach Ms. Yingluck

The NLA voted 190 to 18 to impeach Yingluck in her former position as prime minister.

The majority who voted against Yingluck are mostly military officers who were installed by the junta.

Also seen as an enemy of Yingluck are a group of 40 former senators, while the 18 votes in her favour mostly came from people in the business sector.

    http://www.nationmultimedia.com/webmobile/politics/Most-military-officers-voted-against-the-former-pr-30252607.html

Funny how it's the people from the business sector who voted in her favor while politicized army brasses and former senators didn't whistling.gif

  16. Senate dissolved, they became EX-senators.

They are the legal representation of the senate, The Nation calls them the group of Senators, BP calls them the Senators even other NLA members. I'll make sure to tell them, even though it is quite clear to everyone, that they should be referred to as "The group who were Senators but now the legal representation of the senate in the NLA"

This sequence of events seems difficult for our Thaksin supporters. As in, after he resigned he became ex-PM, some time before the 2006 coup.

....it seems just as difficult for Junta supporters... impeachment is the process of removing (or not), an active official... how can the NLA impeach someone who is an ex-PM and holds no current official position whistling.gif

    .

  17. and the lack of answers from Ms. Yingluck who seems to have stuck to stating party political nonsense and telling the NLA committee that they were only politically motivated.

BTW no senators. The NLA is the legal representative of parliament and Senate only. Read the Interim Constitution if you feel like it.

On top of the 100 or so military brasses isn't there a Group of 40 Senators NLA members?
