  1. It really depends on the landlord.  But short answer, no.

I once rented a Townhouse for 6M contract.  (Then went back to home Country.)
So on final day, the Lady owner came with helper (for final cleanout), checked all the rooms for damage and things.  Everything was fine.

She pulled the deposit out of her pocket, and paid me back in full.

Second case, rented a house, end of 1Y term.  After their inspection, said I damaged matress in 2nd bedroom, and maybe some misc.  It was a bedroom I rarely used, and matress already messed up.
Anyway, ended up getting a little under 50% of deposit back.
Back story, the owners I believe were having some financial difficulty, so...
(House is still for sale as of today also, a few years later)

  2. For anyone more interested, can check CNA's Documentary on this and more.

CNA Also has many other good Documentaries like "Why it Matters" in the VOD section.

Stay strong everyone, and power on.  Su Su ????

  3. As with all new Windows releases, I recommend you wait for SP1 (Service Pack 1).

I'm guessing later in the year, after everyone finds the bugs that testers did not.

Personally, I recommend Ubuntu as Desktop OS, has everything you need also.

    Good luck.

  4. Sorry to toot TV's posters horn, but during my reading on here over the last month, 90%+ predicted everything that happened in so many words.

There is a lot of cynicism, and negativity on TV, but if you scrape the real essence of the posts, people know their stuff.  That said, it did not take a crystal ball to predict such an outcome.

Also happy on # of cancellations, thats the best way to vote -- with your feet.

    Good luck Phuket (and Pattaya).

So, as a normal 2-3 week tourist, I'm going to put in for company vacation time (often, months in advance), book a flight and hotel, run all the immigration traps and cross my fingers that the Thai gub'ment won't pull yet another U-Turn between now and wheels up?

What could possibly go wrong, even if everything was 100% refundable?

I think the Phuket sandbox is a great idea.  But it's going to take some history before the touring public has confidence that it will actually happen.

This is exactly the issue.  So sadly (for tourism and business) many people are waiting it out in their Home Countries, until things blow over and get better.

  6. AliBaba is super friendly site.  Its wholesaler, so many options, which if you find it not user-friendly, then you just need some time to learn it.

Its not meant to be a site that you master in 1 day, or even 1 week.  Even for me using computers my whole life, it takes weeks to get a proper understanding of the wholesale site -- as there are many options.

As others have mentioned, if you are looking to bulk order (and customize), then AliBaba the place to be.

If you are just looking for small quantity, head to AliExpress.

These talks of having to wait a long time for products is just going through the motions.  If you want stuff quicker, then contacting the seller (possible on both Wholesale+Retail sites) and communicating for a faster shipping method, is entirely possible.

    Good luck, and be patient.

It does very much matter who or at least whether it was one of the approved Thai COVID policies vs a general health insurance policy vs an international travel policy.

Also very much matters what the issue with covering it was. That he was asymptomatic, or that the test was "inconclusive".

No problem legally to clarify these points.

As I just replied to other.  I'm on an approved (Thai) one, and they got the 15 day wait period for Covid.  Inconclusive, maybe counts as "Other" and even worse at 30d wait.  And maybe thats not even covered under 2nd Covid specific one.

As long as people understand whats going on, thats all that matters.

Maybe one day things can change.  (Like Premium goes up 100 baht for all, and coverage starts on Day 0)

Not trying to argue or anything with you, just stating facts for everyone to know.

Foreign policies maybe, which is why your advised to obtain any Insurance from the Thai approved Insurance list, where cover starts from the arrival date in Thailand.

I have a Thai Approved one mate, lets say it starts with P.  and 2nd word rhymes with LOSS -- and so does OP I would bet.

It has a "exclusion" that covid coverage does not start for 15 days upon entry.

The Thai Embassy, CoE all approved -- the actual policy is not checked to determine when Covid coverage starts.

If I want to be fully covered, of course I have to buy that 2nd Seperate policy to cover the waiting period.

Here is Remark at bottom from the "Brochure".  I believe you will find similar for all Thai Insurance Companies on that approved list.

    remark_06_covid_15d.png.f6a3e65b34190ea276a0d61e60520981.png

I personally know what I am doing, taking a risk on first 15 days, by not spending 2600 baht to cover that with the specific Covid 19 one.

But just like to keep people aware of how these Insurance Companies play.

Everyone really needs to check their insurance and make sure they are fully covered.

Sadly we are beholden to the Insurance Mafia.
I dont have time to check every Insurance Co. on that approved LongStay website, but I did check a few.  All have a 15-30 day waiting period for Covid coverage, among other things.

And they wont start the clock until you pass the border -- I asked.  So cannot start it in your Home Country 15+ days before you leave.

That leaves you "open" or somewhat un-insured during the 7-15 day quarantine period.

To cover Covid related during first 2 weeks, would have to buy 2nd coverage through the 2nd link -- https://covid19.tgia.org

This one has NO WAITING period.

So in essence 2 policies needed.  One from the LongStay for $100k and Covid (beyond waiting period).

2nd one through Covid19 one above, which for 30d is showing as -- Total Premium : THB 2,560

One guy recommended the Nomad Insurance (by Tokyo Marine I believe), which is great on the face of it.

    https://safetywing.com/nomad-insurance/description-of-coverage.pdf

But dig deeper (Page 9) and its so dirty.

"Quarantine must be due to you testing positive for COVID-19/SARSCoV2, or you are symptomatic and waiting on diagnostic test results."

So in this guys case, "inconclusive" does not quite qualify as a positive test.  Plus by the way, the coverage is $50/day, come on.

Sure, what should we expect from $10/week insurance, you get what you pay for.. yes yes.. mostly right, but still.

Can you tell my position on Insurance by now ?

I am under 60 and I paid $1500 for my combined OA/COVID 19 Insurance with the $100,000 USD coverage(this is a lot of coverage in Thailand and it is over 3 million baht).  Most health insurance policies do not provide that much coverage.  Keep in mind if you test positive for COVID 19 while in Quarantine you have to spend at least 10 days in a hospital at your expense.  The mandatory insurance should cover this. It does not matter if you have any symptoms or not. This is the rule in LOs. This policy covers me for one year and I find it to be reasonable for the coverage it provides.  I am certain insurance will be mandatory for all who enter or re-enter LOS.

Just wanted to say, the mandatory insurance will not cover covid (expenses) during the quarantine (first 15 days) period.

There is a 15 day waiting period for covid coverage once you pass immigration/enter Thailand.  This is right on a certain approved Insurance Co's website, right at bottom as part of exclusions, etc..

That is my experience as I have just purchased it, for STV requirement.  But in fact, its worthless for first 15 days after you enter.

I'm not going to mention the Company, as I believe all are doing the same thing.  But its one listed here for official STV:
    https://longstay.tgia.org/home/companiesstv

If you pick any you will see, I dont have time to go through each and document, but lets say:
    https://www.bangkokinsurance.com/long-stay-visa/

    6. Waiting Period:
6.1 No benefits provided for any sickness which occurs during the first 30 days from the first policy effective date, and

    I love these Insurance Companies...
