  1. The fact that Henry admitted it. That doesn't make him a cheat in my opinion.

He had to admit it, was he going to say it wasn't a handball?? he had no choice..... In my opinion he is a cheat BUT so are most of the players today..

  2. I was talking to 1 bar owner on Saturday night and he can't get anything near what he paid for it back :) and his house is also for sale..... That is over 2 years on the market without a nibble..... Who is starting to get worried??

  3. Mosts of the hotels are over priced and the lack of decent food !

When you say over priced what figures are we talking about?

Its not the figure, ITS the overall crappy rooms and the "I don't give a toss service" that most of the place have there.

  4. Khanom will never get that big due to the fact there is only 1 crappy road heading to Nai Plao beach, it can't be made bigger due to buildings on either side and there are too many mountains. Mosts of the hotels are over priced and the lack of decent food doesn;t help also there isn't any transportation when you get there, so you are stuck unless you rent a bike or a car!!

I have heard the same tune for over 7 years and still nothing......... waiting, waiting.........nope nothing :)

  5. Hi guys,

I have a VW Vento and the glovebox doesn't want to open :) i am using the same key that locked the glovebox 6 months and it won't open!!

Any idea's how to open this thing without breaking anything??

    Cheers

Use Rimmers advice first and the try mine if his doesnt work....

Turn the key 90 degrees in the lock and pull bloody hard, it's probably just a liile stuck. Put a cloth around the key head for extra leverage.

    regards Bojo

Cheers for the replies... My green book for the car has some how found its way in the glovebox (my wife) so it is needed for the tax and insurance up-date. I know if i take it to a local mechanic he is going to break it (replacement 10,000 +) so i might as well give it a go and break it myself... :D

  6. Take the big bus.

Go to bus station in Nakhon Si Tammarat and take the local Samui bus.

No need for minibuses taking you to Suratthani first.

    how much time its take?

    and cost?

Why don't you just fly to Koh Samui?? If you are trying to save money by flying to Nakhon Sri Thammarat then heading to Samui then you are wasting time... pay the extra 1500 baht and fly to Samui.

Taxi from airport to town = 25 mins = 300 baht

    Waiting for minivan = 30 - 1 hour

Minivan to Don Sak = 1 hour 30 mins = 250 baht (ferry included)

wait for ferry = 30 min

ferry to Samui = 1 hour 30 min

    taxi to hotel = 30 mins = 50 baht to 500 baht

    total = 5 hours 30 minutes + 600 baht (1000baht)

    Not worth it :)

  7. I would contact the MoE regarding this. I doubt they would approve of fining children. Most schools don;t want to upset the MoE, so it would be wise to find what their stance is first. If they don't approve of fining students I would tell the school to stop they action and let them know if they don't then you will be contacting the MoE.

    Are you drunk??

Certainly not. I am quite serious. If a teacher needs to resort to such punishments, they need a few lessons themselves in classroom management. Or any other kind of teacher training that the so-called teachers in this country desperately need. Fining students in any cultural context is totally unnecessary. There are plenty of other ways to control student behaviour.

    Says who??

    Again each to their own.

    Agreed

There are plenty of other ways to control student behaviour

Please add some of your hot tips to control student behaviour

  9. Hi,

I did'nt know if this should go into the teaching or family forums, so i'm sticking it here and letting the forum Deity's move if need be.

Anyway, checking up on my 6 year old's school progress, I heard about 2 cases where he either did not do his work up to scratch, or was being a bit rowdy. Nothing too bad in my book as he's usually in the top tier when it comes to his learning.

Anyways, the punishment for these two incidents was that he was "fined" 5 baht. This took me back a little - it's not the amount i'm concerned about, it's the method - He usually gets 20 baht to buy some snacks etc. Is this normal in Thai schools? He's in quite a good one - not an international school but none the less in the international curriculum course with foreign teachers etc.

So my question is twofold. Is this the normal way of handing out "punishment" in Thai schools, compared to the extra homework/detention i was used to, and what are the thoughts of other parents in the forum ???

    ./P

Anyways, the punishment for these two incidents was that he was "fined" 5 baht.

I do the same in my classes, it is a type of punishment that the child can understand, he has been naughty and now he will get LESS snacks because of his bad behaviour in the classroom.

I have a list of the children in my classroom and how much they have been fined over the term (open knowledge at my school and the list is in my classroom where everyone can see it) the money is used for a class party at the end of term!!

It works with me and the parents don't have any problems with it, sorry :)
