  1. Hi there,

The missus had her new spouse visa issued before xmas and is valid till Sept 2015.

If we wanted to go on holiday for a couple of weeks from the UK to one of the Schengen Visa countries, may be spain or portugal then return back to the UK to carry on with life how do we get the schengen visa for her?

also if we wanted to do a mini cruise how can we do that as well?

    Thanks as always in adavance

  2. It was BSE, I remember it well.

Yer your right........................... just got this off a vCJD medical report..........

FDA mandated that blood centers must defer donors who spent greater than 6 months in the UK from 1980 through 1996. The 6 month period was adopted so that >80% of total US person-years in the UK would be excluded. The resulting 2 to 3% decrease in eligible blood donors was absorbed by blood centers without causing serious blood shortages. The FDA is currently considering issuing an expanded deferral to include all potential blood donors who have lived in the UK for 3 months or any European country for 6 months since 1980. This policy will eliminate approximately 8% of all current blood donors. If this occurs, severe blood component shortages, especially during summer months and holidays, are inevitable.

  3. I wanted to give blood in Germany many moons ago, and was asked the same question, I answered yes and was told I could not give blood as there was the BSE (Mad Cows Disease) Epidemic at the time.

Perhaps she meant the BSE epidemic............... but she told me anthrax .... I just starting on google to see what went on in the UK between 1980 and 1996............ think you could be right with the BSE thing

  4. Hi chantal.............. I have tried to donate blood today for your friend after riding from the other side of samut prakan to silom............ Only to be told that because i lived in the UK between 1980 and 1996 I am unable to donate................ due to some Anthrax Epidemic that i have never heard of!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Tell your friend i tried................ but my blood not good enough.................. good luck

  5. Just so people know.

I have just ridden from the other side of Samut Prakan to The Chulalonghorn Hospital in Silom for the Urgent A NEG blood donations that has been requested on here.

During Screening........ the question comes up .......... have you stayed in England between 1980 and 1996............ I answered Yes.......... Sorry you can not donate blood as there was an Anthrax Epidemic in England during that time................ Its the first i have heard of that!!!!!!!!!!!!! This information came from the Thai Red Cross Blood Donation Centre on Henri Durant Road.!!!!

So to the Guy who is wanting A NEG blood asap.............. Sorry pal ............. I tried but my blood is not good enough for you.

  6. Hi all I have got a mate over from the UK for a few months................ He came with a TRIPLE entry tourist visa from Hull Thai Consulate. Now his immigration stamp in his passport says Admitted until 14th May.

Does he go to immigration on/before the 14th May to get another 2 months or does he have to do the Jack Golf Run to Cambodia??

What is the cost at the moment??

    Thanks

    VM

  7. I'll tell you why I want to donate to the family of the slain cop. It is because he did what most of you insensitive fools have never in your life done. He put himself in harms way and paid the ultimate price. I believe in honoring heros and I think I'm a pretty good judge of who qualifies. I even thought of going to the Pattaya Police Station carrying a copy of this article with the photo and ask that they get the money to the family. Maybe I am niave, but I have seen how acts of kindness and support for good can change people. I see it happen daily. Acts of kindness and compassion have power.

The corruption here is no different than in the west. Cops live in their own world, but they have not lost their support for one anothers families. Taking money designated for the family would be serious bad karma as it should be.

I ask myself the question......... Who is the fool?? you or me???

You have obviously never been stopped for some B/sh1t traffic offence and had to pay x baht fine for doing nothing wrong

You have obviously never paid the BIB any tea money for any business transactions that you may have to do in thailand

You have never paid the BIB any money to write a small statement for you, even if you lose your bank books........ you have to pay to get a statement!!!!!

You have never had to pay the BIB to go and resolve a problem you have, which should be within there own job description.

You have never been stopped for speeding when in fact you was within the speed limit and told to pay up because your "going too fast"

The police get far tooo much money in this country for doing very little...... When have you ever seen a police patrolling on foot?? When have you actually seen police arrest somebody??? when have you heard of somebody saying oh the police have caught the guy who stole my _____................. I have lived here a number of years and have never heard anybody say anything good about them....... be they thai or farang.

Where is the Cop corruption in the west............. I have never seen a cop putting money in his own pocket from me going too fast or having a night club open too late!!!!. About time you woke up and realised what the police in thailand are like

  8. I am always amazed how they can willy nilly turn a 1/2/3/ day holiday into 1/2 weeks without a care or a jot for anyone else , just pack up and go . When they return they will likely complain they have no money , when nI was working , if I did that there would be no job/customers on my return , what a joke .

Ohhh get over it for christ sake........... its only the same as the farang christmas / new year holidays.

  9. Had this problem with a couple of bikes and my present car out here........... Solved the problem quite easily............ undo the petrol tank cap and let the pressure from the tank escape.......... get on the bike 2 throttle twists BEFORE starting and then hold the throttle open just a little bit and she will fire up straight away............ exactly the same with the car............ now have no problems.

All though that may work it doesnt solve the problem. It is a work around. He should be able to press the start button and drive away. He should not have to twist this and open that....

In thailand there are alot of things you shouldnt have to do to make things work or happen..... but this is thailand and you learn to adapt overcome and improvise :jap:

  11. What a garbage post. Do you know anything about Thailand? Thailand isn't spiralling downward at all. Maybe you hang out with the wrong crowd in the wrong places. Maybe your life is spirally downwards. Leave if you don't like it here. Do something constructive with your life instead of wasting your time making nonsense comments.

Some people are actually trying to improve things. Maybe they're not perfect, but at least they are trying. And what is your contribution? A bunch of pathetic comments!

I await to read with interest why you think Thailand is not going down hill fast?? Whats hanging out with crowds got to do with anything. ....... Personally I think the poster you was critising made some valid points and not nonsense comments..... Who is trying to improve things here???

Here is where i am coming from. My thoughts on Thailand and its downward spiral.

I have a Sports bar (a successful one i may add) in Phuket, and 3 other businesses in bangkok. The governor of phuket has decided in his wisdom to close all bars at 1am!!! During high season when there are many guys wanting to party on holiday........ where is the sense in that???

Many tourists are now leaving phuket or thailand and going elsewhere to spend there money...... great for the thai economy..... that means hotels lose out, restaurants, shops and bars......... where is the improvement there???

Why does the government not weaken the baht a little bit to help bring business to thailand.

Everything this government /country does at the minute is aimed at keeping business away from thailand.......... ranging from the exchange rates to visas. I went a couple of weeks back to get a new Non imm B visa........... with all the paperwork i usually have to be told i now need to have a receipt for my paperwork from either a lawyer or the labour office........... so i had travelled from phuket to penang for nothing other than wasting 3 days........... and then had to go to the labour office and literally a 30 second visit for a piece of paper with a stamp and a tick on it!!!!!!!!!!!! And you say they are being contructive!!!!! B/S

Its about time you and a few others took your head out your backside and acutally looked around and saw what is going on in a once fantastic country............ and guess what......... i along with quite a few other businessmen in thailand are selling up and moving to places that actually want us to work, employ local staff and make money for ourselves and the country........... unlike thailand.......... too blinkered to see what is actually happening

Perhaps your sports bar and the type of customer it attracts is not the sort of business the authorities wish to encourage? What some see as colourful, others see as sleazy.

I remember how beautiful Phuket used to be before all the gogo bars, pubs, cafes and hotels appeared. Certainly wouldn't want to return there any more after you've wrecked it with your 'improvements'.

so you never play pool, or darts or table football in a bar.... sit down and drink with friends watching the footie...... ohhh you cant out here your a Notts County fan......... they not good enough to be seen on tv here hahahaha???? yet another poster with his head up his own ass

  13. I have got to take my hat off to you....... thats one hell of an overstay :jap:. So after work finished i am curious to know you got by in thailand for 25 years with no "proper income"?

I assume you are very fluent in thai now :whistling:

Any way as others have said...... let sleeping dogs lie....... you have saved a fortune in visas/visa runs

  14. As well as all the above your on the lease............ your name will be required to get the licences for beer and whisky and cigarettes and music licence........... you aint got a hope in hell in getting licences in your name for a bar being a farang......it aint gonna happen. unless you get a non imm visa and work permit....... to do that you got to set up a company etc etc........... Run very fast in the opposite direction,.

As well as that............ since when do people from Isaan play pool........ cant think i have ever seen a pool table in a bar up in the north east............. and the girls that come from that way cant play pool for shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!! until they have been shown the ropes.!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. 700,000 baht in "marriage fees" plus wedding fees to come!!!!!!!!!

    then 40,000 baht a month to keep her happy x 12 = 480,000 baht a year

not taking in to account any "inflation raises" she will ask for in a few months time and will carry on at the current rate over 10 years your gonna give her 4.8 million baht to keep her happy.

you say the money isnt a problem.............. but every pocket has a bottom and she is gonna find a way of getting to yours very quickly.

Mate your off your head and deserve what ever she takes from you if you go anywhere near her..... DITCH THE BITCH asap

  17. I am not sure whether I can post links here, but go to khmer440 dot com (and click on "Forum" on the top menu). This very active discussion board tends to be rather Phnom Penh centric, but there are posters who live/have lived in other places.

For things specific to sihanoukville, try sihanoukvilleonline dot com. The forum is more welcoming than khmer440, and quite a few small business owners post there, dispensing fairly sound advice for newcomers.

nice one mate thanks for that
