1. I was there and not impressed. Iwon't waste my time again.

What's the story with the "Big Bike Highway Volunteers"?

    Big Bike Highway Police Volunteer

As indicated, we are Police Volunteers for the Highwaypolice, as there are volunteers for Immigration Police, Tourist Police and Bib. Police forces are short in manpower and vehicles, thus enrolling unpayed volunteers.

Application followed by 2 days in "Police Academy". Learning about how the police works, how to behave as a volunteer and some medical training focused on bike accidents. The Vice Governor of Phuket was present for a few hours.

Approx 200 students this time, with approx 30% farang, from all over Thailand. Male and female, from all kind of bike groups (didnt meet any bandidos though). This was the 5th class, thus our Police ID cards have numbers 5xxx. In addition to Police ID card, some of us have police stickers on our vehicles.

Course ended with group ride around Phuket and Phuket Bike Week dinner in Thainaan Restaurant.

did you need to pay for the dinner that 1000 baht thing with more badges?Only in thailand 1 percenter badge sits next to police volunteer.Member Heroes end paid 500 dont need to attend as long thai national.i took the singha badge. <snip>

  2. I didn't want to be first complaining but totaly agree with both posters above. After 16 years of PBW and no improvement in organization something surely isn't right. I can't understand why this guy Sumon has almost a monopoly on organizing such event. They can't setup simple ride, exhibition in Jung Ceylon was terrible with major motorcycle brands absent, not to mention various Miss contest where half of the contestants are chix with dix.

I would hold my breath in expectations for improvement next year as long as this character heads organization.

Not to mention outrageous claim of PBW being biggest bike event in South East Asia, please.....it's not even biggest in Thailand. Pattaya and Chiang Mai have much more to offer and improving each year. Unless things change drasticaly, Hat Yai bike event will overtake Phuket too.

On another and positive note, all bikers were friendly and courtious to each other. I haven't seen any incidents which are so common in similar events in Europe and USA. The only thing that made me chukle was Bandidos behaviour. They were all stuck in their own tent and their younger members wearing patches such as "PROBATION" and "PROSPECT" seemed to be absolutely terrified if someone from higher ranks cought them talking to members of other MC's. What is the point joining such group if you gonna live in fear and been told all the time what you can or can't do? Might as well join the army instead.

Choice of food was great, prices hiked up for special occasion but what to expect: folks wanna make money and rightly so.

Yamaha tent was giving free beer in order to attract visitors to their area. It improved slightly when 5 girls came on stage and danced to the tune of Lady GaGa and others.

This year there were lots of sport, sport-touring and adventure bikes, mainly thanks to the fact that these are quite popular in Malaysia in Singapore. Easy Rider and Chopper/Custom bikes culture is alive and well in these 2 countries but not to such extreme level as in Thailand.

Also, so much hype about Heroes End 10th anniversary. Spoke to 2 members of the club today and asked them where their prez is (whom I know) and they said he never showed up; no idea about his whereabouts. :)

And as far as today's ride for World PEace is concerned, it really sucked big time. As TV member 2 posts above said, they kept postponing the start of the ride like zillion times. We ended up at Prompthep Cape Viewpoint, took some refreshments and enjoyed in sunset and pleasant breeze. All of a sudden bikers start leaving on their own, even though we all expected to descend down to Rawai, Chalong and go back to Patong. No official explanation, nothing.....free for all. Ok, ok....group pics were taken, video cameras all over the place and friendly bunch of tourists asking to be photographed next to our bikes.

Overall, perhaps 250-300 bikes participated in group ride, much less than in previous years. Weather was great apart from this afternoon when started pouring but road turned dry in less than an hour.

Still, I'm very happy because I took my 10 year old for his very 1st organized bike ride. It means great deal to him and perhaps in 30 years he can boast to his biker friends how he mingled with other bikers at such early age.

Cro,Fri,sat Pres.was sitting most of the time near our bar.about organization i think sumon soon will sell his pbw domain and the rights.he is clever. This year i didnt see a clear branding behind the stage.he also not invested much thats why in jungcylon was nothing. He put up a lot advertisers.Nicky stayed completly away as many others. Therefore we had the bandidos may they wanna buy it?we falangs cant do anything.i think this is just another lomapark attraction.somehow this hardrockbikerthing and this softthaiculture not fit so well together.lets make a party together bikestyle at Kok Klois small airport flyphuket.com.BIKERS with a proper pissoir.

  3. Anyone went there last night?

I gave it a miss, never believed there would be any decent classic bike display.

Been there, the vespa classic club was there with about 30 old vespas i think from the sixtees.also nice location but as i thought trouble from the appartment owners about the noise. Also superb house music.Just i think this kind music not fits classic bikescooter scene.Quadrophenia is the thing for a event with scooters. Also for me hard they had only beer heinecken. But fantastic weather, sound, some nice chicks to look, nice toiletts my sexy wife and my classic 900 and a afterparty in a karaoke with some Leos made it again to those nice Phuketnights.

  4. Toyotas account for between 40-45% of all vehicles here, so it's not that statistically a stretch to have two toyotas in an accident. If there were two seperate yugo accidents, that would be something else.

Add on top of that the "Fortuner mindset" (I'm in this beast of a vehicle, GET OUT OF MY WAY!), and it's a wonder the stats are high regarding Toyotas and accidents.

I am with you .This fortunermindset. But sometimes two meet each other.when i am on my bike they overtake and come on my site. And all need this stainless steel ram,by the way in europe forbidden.

  5. This topic should not be allowed. We are here guests who dont like dont need to come.As many posters i like after many years phuket, there are no perfect places in the world.Anyway where to falangs meet the spot is nearly ruined.Stay away from tourist area if you not want, here is Sun,good prices, friendly poeple, airport.hospital, plenty things to do.Give me a thaipassport.

  6. Read the first post by Karen , Nai Harn Classic Bike show , thats how i found out about it ,

Not being funny mate, but language is a very useful thing if used properly.

KarenBravo said, that her mechanic said, that there was a classic bike show. She then said that they are supposedly coming from all over Thailand. She then closed by asking Anyone heard more about this.

It was never said in this thread that it was definately a classic bike show. It was just a second hand rumour, needing to be confirmed. You jumped the gun, went to the show, and were dissapointed. To then blame the show for miss advertising or cheating you in some way is a bit sad. The show was exactly what it was supposed to be, you just didn't take the time to do your own investigation, as to what the show was all about, and what was going to be there before you went.

As for the beer, I got mine on the second night. They weren't being offered to anyone. You had to swap your entrance ticket for another ticket, then go to the beer tent. If you'd had a few, maybe you could have salvaged a decent night out. Either way, I'm afraid it was your fault you got the wrong idea and nobody elses.

    i had quite afew.

  7. jintarla poonlarbs my favourite, been listening to her music for over ten year, from the first day i set foot in the country. doesnt go down to well with the wife though, think theirs a bit of jelousy on her part. she absolutely hates it every time i put any of her vcds on.

also like dacatan churada, siriporn um pai wong, pai pong sa ton, got jackapan, pee sa dirt and many others.

lucky to have one of those twangdeng clubs down the road, love it! bottle of whiskey, good food and sing song with the locals.

on the flip side, there are some good bands out there like, silly fools, hang man(ex frontman of silly fools outfit), the potatoe and bodyslam.

I am with you Jintara halahihalahu i met her in germany once dam_n sexy,i also like Ponsak .piloporn better then <deleted>....ing hipflop and scorpionshotelcalifornia they play here since 20 years.old Ekachai good and now Saantipaap good vcd Live in Krabi.I cant here raeggae, sorry job to do.

  11. I like blues .may the entrance fee is high.how can i bring my thai friends our motorcycleclub with me.carabao 100 baht.I would mix it with a thaiheadliner too.check out Santipaap .maybe mix it with a bikeparty together.we heard the concert outside karon.i would make the concert at the small airport in pha klok.if ever shemekia copeland come Heroes end mc comes sure.the band in rockin angels also fit.Brian Setzer too.mabe supergulu ,from the picture every week in the gazette knows some vips beside naomi.

  12. Will this green book thing one day ever be solved.Means regular poeple can go to the local customerfriendly office and can get for a fair price a legal registration. How many roads ah how many coconuts need to fall down this dream comestrue.i dont want a new bike i look funny on them.old man on that plasticthing.emission test i mean there is the work to do first at the trucks every biker knows.200 percent import tax at the boats its scrapped is the bikerlobby not that strong. Many nice bikes around here BSA BMW Triumph classics nearly all dont have a book.Would be nice the officials would come up with a biker friendly solution.25000 should be enough for older bikes not worth more then 150000 baht. But as long they leave us ride what is the fact this is only a sugestion not a complaint. Also leave the licenceplates the old small size for what thev get bigger all harleys i see with copies and the originals home.See you with or without phuketbikeweek 2010 for party.Would be nice see some officials on the stage at pattaya or phuketbikeweek about this issue instead we need to plant siblings again.

  13. And I hope the next concert will be better than at the last Phuket Bike Week, which was really disappointing compared to the performance in Karon before.

You right, many young thai bikers from outside phuket want to see them.Which bands you think would fit Phuketbikeweek for every visitor and is still bike music.i seen losso too much still may fit best.but i think he is now more in uk and us.Lek Fei ...ozzy thai was good sundays.fridays carabao may he was lifted looked too young for me in the rain was fun too.the band from angels pub good too played only too early.

  14. I see only one Big Club called Thai police. Here in Phuket they ride on Big BMW.All Tacos and Hells falangs on thai guest visa.So the scene will be in thaihands. All Big clubs tried to have chapter charter here .how many outlaws left,81 tried hard ,bandidos well working on it,but i not see one Bike week up.Pattaya Bike week Burapa MC,Phuket Phuketriders and Heroes End.Gremium pattaya website seems tey learned their lesson .see leitfaden Pattaya. So cha chalet thailand be thailand respect their culture and may instead bring your ideas from home what you happenly left look whow your guestcountry handle this.Burapa bikeweek superevent when i see behind the stage any international MC logo then you made it.A new car will be not enough may a clubhouse.greetings and cha cha

  15. Well the HA aren't the only 1% gang out in Thailand.

There's already the Bandidos and some other gangs at the shows have the 'accolade' showing on their jackets.

Let 'em come and see what the deal is. Afterall the HA are all over the world anyway right?

I think if they want to get membership in any decent numbers they ought to drop some of the racial rulings that only white anglo-saxons can join the HA!
