The best way to avoid most of the Bangkok traffic coming from the south is once you get on Rama II Road, go straight to the end and turn right onto Suksawat.

Go along and turn left onto the new Saphan Wong Wan bridge. Technically bikes aren't supposed to use this bridge but I've never had any problems. Once on the bridge you have two choices. Right to Rama III Road or left to Pu Chao Saming road. Go to Pu Chao Saming.

When your're off the bridge and get to the end of the road, you come to a T-junction. Turn right. this is Pu Chao Saming Road. Go straight along to the end and you eventually reach Sukhumvit Road. This is where you get most traffic. Turn left towards Bang Na and then right onto Bang-Na-Trat road and onto Pattaya.

    Btw, what you riding?

thaistyle modifids and sandals.last time four years ago it took us two weeks.

  4. I drove down from PrangNga today and thought i saw an internet place on the left with a sign saying wireless internet somewhere north of the airport.

It may have been a little south of there but not much.

Not forgetting the booze, taxis and so on......

  6. this topic is just band with wastage. It is definitely as useful as a handbrake on a canoe! One thing is absolutely clear. Whatever change you might think of will be just a dream. You are a foreigner, and none of the politic matters is of your concern. The immigration and labor laws are what might effect your life, and even for that, Thai will do without your advice!

I agree, that if Farangs want to get involved in Politics, do so in your home country, not a country in which you are living as a guest. However, that doesn't mean they aren't interested in Politics, are keen observers of the political process and like to expend hot air pontificating on all its' intricacies. Obviously Thailand would be of major interest considering their residence. I have a keen interest in Ukrainian, Canadian, American, and British politics, even though I have no voice in it and are not affected by it. There is even a name for us types - political junkies.

We all from earth. One passport ,one currency and comon religion.see europe .us,burma is last.poor guys need to wait till old boyz leave office.the youth ofTHAIlAND will join the international comunity they are alright.i only hope they dont need to fight to get a beer in a karaoke by then.Things take time Thai will do fine great country and poeple.

  10. There will be positive changes here in the future.

    Competition is a wonderful thing.

For a long time Thailand has been the big boy on the local block.

Now some of the other nations want a bigger piece of the tourism pie.

The powers that be will eventually notice this.

I even think that immigration and some of the silly anti-foreigner laws will change for the better.

    Just give it time

i am with you.i hope my daughter can see it

  12. It's hardly news the avg foreigner can't own land in Thailand, or that some land offices operate slowly (without tea;) but Land Dept head Mr Anuwat (who was appointed last Oct by the PREVIOUS Govt) is either misquoted, or knits in some controversy for measure (or purpose?).

The statements by Mr Anuwat seem more designed to either raise his profile, or perhaps to put a scare into some 'Farang' developers on Phuket.

-Since Mr Anuwat was appointed by Mr Thaksin's brother-in-law's previous Govt, perhaps he feels he must raise his profile in the new Govt? (will he now regret it?). Also, there's little doubt Foreign-fronted developers have gobbled up much valuable land in Phuket and in cases 'likely' via the Foreign developers wife.

The law does state a Thai spouse of a Foreigner can purchase land with their 'Sin Suan Tua' (their personal property, ie: funds). The controversy then seems to be whether the Thai spouse used their own 'Sin Suan Tua' (or funds). There is no law against loaning or gifting a Thai spouse money but the law states the Thai spouse must purchase with their own funds (thus, the controversial/interpretive bit).

Still, the Foreign spouse is required to sign documents stating the Thai spouse is the owner, the Thai spouse is using their own 'Sin Suan Tua' and the Foreigner agrees to have no claims. Then the land office issues the deed (is the land office then also complicit IF 'suspecting' otherwise retroactively?).

    Came across the following via:

    www.thaiembassy.se/documents/Land%20Ownership%20for%20Foreign%20Investors.pdf -

    Personal ownership:

If a Thai national legally marries a

    foreigner, the foreigner still cannot

own land. A legitimate marriage under

    the Civil and Commercial Code

Section 1457 is effected only on regis-

tration, except for those who married

    before 16 October B.E. 2519 (A.D.

1976), in which cases there were no

    marriage certificates.

A standing order of the Ministry

of Interior come into force on 23

    March B.E. 2542 (A.D. 1999), allowing

only the Sin Suan Tua (personal

property) of Thai spouses to be used

    to purchase land.

Sin Suan Tua consists of property

    belonging to either

    spouse before marriage; property for

personal use, dress or ornaments suit-

able for one's station in life, or tools

    necessary for carrying on the

    profession of either spouse; property

acquired by either spouse during mar-

riage through a will or gift; and

    Khongman.

Khongman is the property that a

man gives or transfers to a woman as

evidence that the marriage will take

    place. The Khongman becomes the

property of the woman after betrothal.

A land official will register any rights

and juristic acts of any applications in

cases where they fall within the fol-

    lowing:

    1. For a Thai national whose legiti-

mate spouse is foreign, the Thai

    and foreign spouse jointly con-

firm in writing that all money

needed to purchase land is mere-

ly the Sin Suan Tua of the Thai

    spouse;

    2. Similarly, but where the marriage

is not legal, the money that the

    Thai person uses to purchase

    land must be solely personal

    money, income that the spouses

jointly earned cannot be used to

    purchase land;

    3. A Thai national whose spouse

is foreign in both legal and ille-

    gal marriages may apply to

obtain land at the time of the

    marriage or cohabitation as

husband and wife, as his or her

    Sin Suan Tua;

    4. A Thai national who once had a

    foreign spouse but who is

    divorced or the cohabitation ter-

minated, may enter into a juristic

    act to obtain land;

    5. A foreigner's minor whose

nationality is Thai may apply to

enter into a juristic act to acquire

land. Land still belongs to a Thai

national even though he or she mar-

    ries a foreigner.

    ----------------

-Regardless of interpretations, it's extremely unlikely to happen but IF Mr Anuwat wasn't misquoted and still wishes to pursue every Thai married to a Foreigner purchases of every single plot or home, the courts would be swamped and it would make headlines around the world (ie: NOT gonna happen). Also, the land office itself might be called on to explain why it would issue deeds (under suspect circumstance) and then wish to retroactively revoke same (therby implying complcity).

It's extremely unlikely the new Govt either supports or had any prior knowledge of Mr Anuwat's comments. It is also extremely unlikely the new Govt supports revoking title deeds en-masse, period. Perhaps Mr Anuwat may claim a misquote, or, since he was appointed by the previous Govt, he may already be destined for an inactive post by the new Govt anyways... (if so, perhaps just a bit faster now?)

Prediction: There may be attempts to put a few 'over-reaching' Foreign developers on a hot-seat down Phuket way but there will be no wild or wide 'witch-hunt' on married Foreign/Thai mom n pop home or land 'owners' (some in the knee-jerk 'sky is always falling' majority here may will disagree;) :D

One thing remains certain, Thailand needs to address the ongoing knowing fiasco of all 'nominee' issues.

Well, that's if the Govt gets a minute whilst trying to stabilise the economy in between herding hissing Newin's Bhum Jai Ministers and constant demands to change constitutions, exonerate poll fraudsters, pardon ex PM's (- the opposition's and Newin's priorities must come first, as they see it...) :)

    Bravo

  13. :) Exciting racing at WatthanaNakon, SaKaeo; 1,2,3 May 2009 for the first and second rounds of Thailand Three Crowns SuperCars series.

hi quick question, is there a race track in WatthanaNakon, SaKaeo?

A 2.2 km race circuit (about 5r & 4l turns) is set up on the old airport in WatthanaNakon next to hwy 33, this was the 3rd year there.

Check out for pictures and maps of race tracks within Thailand.

Thanks.. I will check it out..

Do you know who owns the circuit? Is there a contact number?

As far i know son of a former minister and a profesinal Drag Racer in usa.Has a company for Carracing parts.

  15. bandidos mc are the only big international club in thailand ,mad dogs mc would be one of the big international asian clubs there too.they have chapters in most asian countries ,they are known as a supporter club of the hells angels....hells angels have been trying to get in for a while ..maybe they will some time through some supporter club or something like that ...i see a new club -house of pain mc ...this is the hells angels newest supporter club there started up by a mad dog mc member ..they use red n white colours too..

there used to be alot of fighting years ago between all the different clubs in thailand but now they all party together,,jumeen the president of burapa mc thailand put a stop to all the fighting ...he got all the clubs together and sorted it out ...now they all ride for peace...this is the motto used for most of the big bike weeks "ride for peace" make love no war party.........

thailand bike weeks are very enjoyable..great music ,entertainment etc ..thailand has some of the best custom bikes to be seen any where in the world....

bandidos are growing in popularity in thailand with many chapters throughout the country...i know some of these guys and they are sound, nice dudes...there is hundreds of clubs in thailand now ..they all wear back patches...every one parties together and that is a good thing....

most of the bigger clubs have their own club houses ,where they hold meetings and invite friends over for parties...these clubs do some great work for charities..the jesters mc thailand have generated millions of baht for charities over the years..

dont judge these bikers when you see them ...get to know them first before you make assumptions about them because there is some really sound people involved in these clubs....like any social scene in society ,there will always be some <deleted> involved,,but thats life i suppose.........and to all those people knocking harleys ..go for a ride on one first and come back and tell me you diddent enjoy yourself...i rode sports bikes for years fireblades,r1s,gsxrr,zxrs..then one day a friend of mine gave me his custom harley for a spin ...i came back hooked,,,its a different buzz than from a sports bike..feet forward, arms wide and believe me they can move fast to when youn want too.....its not what you ride its the brotherhood of friendship thats important........

Barrybike, thanks for your interest in us. I am Tim Wood, President of Mad Dog MC Thailand.

I would just like to clarify a couple of points you have raised: We are not a support club to the Hells Angels or anyone else. The 'House of Pain' is not to the best of my kinowledge a Motorcycle club, but a tattoo studio and is nothing to do with us.

The Mad Dog Motorcycle Club started in Manila, Philippines fifteen years ago and is now established in Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore as well as here in Pattaya. We are, I believe, the largest club in Asia, consisting of men from all walks of life and many nationalities who enjoy each other's company and riding motorcycles. As with the other established clubs in Thailand, we have no interest in 'criminal activities' or causing trouble of any kind. Most of our members are in their forties and fifties and either work off shore or are retired from responsible jobs. We have a good relationship with other clubs including the Banditos.

Please visit our international website if interested in learning more about us: mdmc.org.

Next time you see one of us say hello, he might even buy you a beer!

    Tim.

    HELLO HELLO HELLO

  16. I would cover the cbr with a bed sheet.Spray it up with sonax wd40 and close gasoline switch Benzinhahn off then run it till it goes off alone. Then your carb is empty and the small jets wont clock up,when you come back try to pushstart for get the full battery power to the ignition. But mostly they dont start because the piston in the carb is sticky a little bit.A For professionals who dont mind burn down the bike give some gasoline on the airfilter.Burn baby burn.i have by the way a race ignition box for this thing cheap for sale Kittyracing.See you at the ACE

  17. In other words - is it a complete non-starter due to the very high import taxes etc?

There are many 'big bike' owners here in Phuket, but my interest is in riding one of the vintage (> 50 years old) British classic bikes.

It's no problem to purchase one in the UK from a dealer. But is it possible to import it into Thailand, either fully assembled or dis-assembled?

And if it is possible - know anyone who has done this?

    Simon

    Simon,

Best of luck!!! I tried to bring bike from UK split into 3 boxes and to-date still in the port after one year.

I paid Thai import company 50K to do what needed to be done, taxes etc after 10 months told me they could not help which for this cost me 28K as they gave me back 22K.

So as I say best of luck and maybe better trying to buy older bike here as many old bikes for sale. :o

I like classic bikes too,but its impossible to register it.we have to look the Dmax and vigos.Better go to a karaoke bar.Soon there is a Ace Cafe in phuket we can look some fotos together and cry in the beer.classix
