  1. Thailand is strong in service standards and value-for-money product offerings, so tourists should consider coming back, he said.

Not the last time i checked.

Service is 3rd world and prices exceed western 1st world countries.

Suraphon, get into the real world.

I agree. Suraphone, governor of Toursim Authority of Thailand, should convince the world not to visit Thailand!

someone in charge of security already announced that there is an alleged element of sabotage...mmm foreign security agencies hinted "stay away from thailand" right?

  2. Another problem could be simply that your modem/router has a HW problem. I remember now having similar symptoms (disconnections) and TT&T (in Krabi) were searching long, before they replaced the modem and everything was fine. Its worth a try (if you have a spare one).

    I've got TT&T Maxnet (now 3BB I guess).

The modem they gave me has died, but I have delayed asking for a replacement because I don't know if they will charge to replace it.

    Anyone know about this?

When you get modem from any of those service provider initially, make sure you keep whatever packaging you received (box, plastic cover etc..) for a year. The reason being that your service provider can do a one to one exchange with the vender otherwise you may have to pay for the repair by the vendor.

  3. Many sites depend on ads to make money. TV does and I believe its fine and support the idea.

Sites that make money have better content and services, but it has a down side also. These ads often contact the internet many times during page loading. At no fault of the web site at times this can cause slow web browsing.

If your file download and speed test is good but browsing is a problem it may be caused be the local internet not getting fast responses from the ad sites.

Also check MTU setting running the highest number in Thailand seems to be a problem for some, try reducing it 8 bit at a time to clear the routing problem.

These are the two things that resolved all my web problems from Thailand.

I also use both the open and advantage dns IP's

Yes, you're right, I changed my (1424 + 28 IP and ICMP headers= 1452 is the optimum MTU setting) too. The original setting by default was 1492.

To find the correct MTU for your configuration you must run a simple DOS Ping test. You will simply send out ping requests and progressively lower your packet size until the packet no longer needs to be fragmented.

The command for this ping test is ping www.google.com -f -l 1492

•There is a single space between each command.

•"-l" is a lower case letter L, not the number one.

•The last four numbers (1492) are the test packet size.

Take the maximum packet size from the ping test and add 28. You add 28 bytes because 20 bytes are reserved for the IP header and 8 bytes must be allocated for the ICMP Echo Request header.

Remember: You must add 28 to your results from the ping test!

    Good luck!

  4. Coffin-burning and cursing ceremonies were held at major rally sites, with DAAD leaders presiding over the rituals and reading out cursing statements against the government and the military.

Why am I not surprised? Actually, this hocus pocus silliness makes Thais look like dingbats in the view of the rest of the world.

Every so often we hear about some African tribe which smear some sort of pig fat on their chests and claim it repels bullets. Same sort of bunk as burning coffins or burning feces or whatever the Reds are doing.

Should I say more... no just this, this type of trashing of other religions is mostly done by erh...??????

Someone came to ask me one morning...... Do you want to go to the Heaven? Over there, everyone is so beautiful, there is no aging, everyone is happy, do you want to be beautiful and happy forever? quickly take action to qualify yourself to go to Heaven!!"

Me, munching my morning bread replied: "are you asking me to die? need to die before going to Heaven, right?" :)

  5. So how does your speedtest to BKK look like? Just to check if your line and local connectivity is OK.

I have a ToT 8M/1M package and I am quite happy with it. I do get 5-6 MBbps on speedtests to US.

If ToT can not fix the problem and you can't get TRUE, why dont you let your friend subscribe to a second TRUE ADSL line and connect over WLAN?

Speedtest to BKK is around 7 or 8mb/s

5-6mb/s to US would be totally acceptable obviously. Do you think the 8M/1M plan is *that* different from the 8M/512kb plan that it allows the...INTERNET...to be used? I guess nothing would surprise me with ToT, who are saying over and over I have their absolute best plan available for central Bangkok.

When I say my friend is next door, I mean his large apartment complex is next to my large apartment complex...and we're on opposite sides of our buildings, so maybe a couple hundred metres away as the crow flies. I don't think WLAN is an option that far away, right?

    Hi,

Please check the following and post it here -
