Yes. Most are all but visitors living on the edge of the surrounding culture and well out of their "comfort zone". Some live a meagre existence in villages thinking about 1) why did this happen to me. Or 2) it's somebody else's fault.
You get out what you put in IMO.
not imo, fact of life.

So Pattaya Beach is without population. excellent.

Never give up on the Country of your birth and keep your home there. If your financial resources allow swap your cold Winters in Europe and rent six Months in Thailand.
Regulations in Thailand are forever changing and always be prepared to lose everything you bring. Don't be tempted by a pretty Girl to end up as meat on the table for herself and extended Family. If you do marry make sure the Lady is well educated so that you do not spend the Evenings looking at walls and ceilings and really not communicating.
Away from the big Cities Thailand does not offer anything except better weather and the attractions of normal tourism.
If you are an experienced and talented Business Person then much of this can be turned on its head. There is serious money to be made here but don't buy a bar. Often they don't make money but are a front for long term residence.
avoid this character's box at all costs. he offers zipity do dah.

Won't work if you have to ask. Thailand is on Planet Earth, for the many who are alien to that fact. Its a beautiful world we live in. If it isn't beautiful where you are, it won't take long and you'll not know where you are, again. Then you can be a Thai blame it on. How could we be responsible for what's going on in our lives. What does 47 have to do with it? Is that the box you're thinking out of? Its the RTP, the roads, the this, the that. It couldn't be me. If the shoe fits wear it.

Mostly first generation drivers. Ex pats that don't know their ear from a hole in the ground. The me, me crowd. What can I find fault with in the world today. Not what can I do to help. How may I say, thank you. Stop now, having lost ability to be polite to the non thinking public.

>>Police said the narcotic gang led by the son of a local politician was responsible as he might take revenge on the narcotic suppression team for making frequent arrest and seizure of his drugs.<<Quote
Fort starters, what about arresting the local politician??
Too influential??
Donating too much the the RTP??
In oz the police arrest (alleged) criminals, not their parents.
I must have to reread. This isn't about Oz.. We don't know what its about. Just another newspaper story. eat it up.

It's due to neglect - most Thai parents give a toss and have their kids just live alongside like a cat or dog, best if they can drop them at school early and pick them up late so they're out of the way. Great if they go somewhere to a lake, waterfall or river in the afternoon with thier friends, providing some free extra quality time to mom and dad to watch some braindead Thai soaps on the telly while gulping down some Lao Khao mixed with red or green Fanta.
Same goes for aunts, uncles and grandparents who have to bring up the small ones because mom has been impregnated by a useless 15 year old drug addicted punk (who did not and will not achieve anything ever in life despite a wheelie on his pimped-up Honda Click) who fled to another province as soon as the belly showed and mom ended up in some girlie bar in the south...
Let's face it - the majority of Thai parents care just about themselves, kids are a necessary burden because later, as adults, they will provide for their card playing, gambling, alcohol addicted parents who never gave them a hug, or kiss, letting alone teaching them empathy or other human values.
+1 - if the parents cared then the outrageous number of drowned kids every year would not be so high but just another sad death-record to be "proud´" of I guess - Thais hate to learn for some strange reason ...
The self-haters have had their say. Never will they have their day.

You seem very angry. They are controled by anger and their numerous and repeated mistakes. Written by a former useless 15 year old and a uselss whatever current age. The text book punk.
Many parents the world over could stand a class or two in parenting.
“I love my children so much. They are my world. I live for them. Though they don't understand this, I don't care. I will not stop nagging them. I will be in every part of their lives, for who knows what will happen in adulthood? I have knowledge from my own experiences. I know what they should avoid. I know what is good for them. Whether they hate me or love me, it won't make a difference in how I guard them.”

I was just at Bangkok Immigration and they had a huge sign, stating the severe overstay penalties, blacklisting times etc.
Now, people here are saying these rules are not in effect?
I think some people have come to believe that an "Overstay" is just another type of visa.
"What kind of visa do you have? Non B?, Non O? ED?"
"No, I am here on a Overstay Visa!"
" It only cost me 20,000 Baht!"
I don't care for your posting style. I do appreciate UbonJoe trying to help the guy.
Cheers
Praise ubonjoe, agreed.

The safe will only keep out an honest man. A thief will laugh at them and take the money. If you have to think about it, don't do it.

You too, friend.

God I love this place !!! :-) Everyday feels like April 1st. In the real world police are
tasked with stopping crime. Here they commit crime....I have said time and time again
if they want to reduce crime in Thailand, simply fire all the police......
"His confession led the police to hunt for a police sergeant who drove for the gunman.
Panja said he was paid 50,000 baht by the police sergeant Charnchai Soisangwarn to shoot the abbot.
Be careful what you wish for - image how hungry they would be if they were unemployed
They might be vacant and souless like the haters that post here. The Ingrates.

Police Officers, Stay Safe.

I have lost count of how many times the Thai Tourist Police have helped me. They speak English. Enjoy my dry sense of humor and never disappoint.
When I say, Hello is this Mum, it never goes over their heads.
