  1. this probably won't be a popular response, but it's my 2 cents.

in your situation, I wouldn't leave the US voluntarily.

your plan of returning to thailand and immigrating to another country is dubious at best. there are hundreds of thousands of thais that'd jump at a chance to immigrate/work in an english speaking country. once you leave the US, you're in a pool with all of those people, except that you'll have some giant red flags associated with your name. I'm assuming you realize that the only reasonable way you're leaving the US is via deportation -- turning yourself in and having them send home.

I realize of course you have a leg up with your US education and english language skills, but essentially you'll be going there in hopes of getting somewhere like the US. it sounds like you want to hit thailand, then avoid anything that'll slow you down, like military service, and bounce directly to another country. the truth is, once you get there, you're going to be there for years. even with your situation, I have no doubt you can eventually make it out, but it's not going to be quick or easy.

you're leaving because you can't afford to pay your loans, but once you leave, you're not going to be able to pay your loans anyway, so those are probably going to default regardless of what you do. you're here illegally and want to leave and go to another country, but you're worried about ruining your credit? you know a decent salary for a thai person in thailand is about $300US a month, right?

what I'd do is default on the loans, start looking for non-conventional ways of making money, find a cheap place to live, and wait for some immigration amnesty help. it sounds like your morals are in the right place, but your view of the situation and reality are a bit skewed. you just want to be a normal guy and do the right thing, but you're simply not in a situation where that's possible now.

Get a TPO. You are an eductaqed person. How can you possibly think it would make any sense to leave a country that has been your home. You have mutually honored each other. You and the USA. That your education is evidence of. I have communicated with yolu before. Go seek help through your religious org. or congress. That is their job, what they do. NVc is not the boogie man, either.

  2. Contact me in Florida, . I am married to a THai woman and there are many ways you can qualify as you are to stay in then USA. Especially with the education you now have. Charles, telephone; nine zero four three eight three four six zero two . This is a magic jack number. Has voice mail so if you miss me leave a number.

Hi Charles, I sent you an e-mail. I'm curious to hear about your solutions. Thanks.

Have you gotten a TPO [temporary protective order , yet?]

  3. Personally i think this is a load of old crock, simple to boost site views with tv's new alliance.

The rules have been in place for years, and i have heard that people have been stamped out in the past day or two with 2years plus overstay with no problem.

But isn't that the whole point. In the past yes, but not anymore.

Like others stated, there are perfectly legal ways to remain here without overstaying. I take it that those who neglect this are doing so for financial gain, ie. they do not want to spend the money to go abroad and obtain a new and valid visa. They're pissing on those of us who do.

Lawbreakers since forever have been pissing on the rest of us . practicfing to be law abiding citizens.

  4. I had an overstay, year before last. Thought I had cleared it with down town. There was illness with Thai family. Explained it to officer. He wasn't smiling and all the paper work from the doctors were in checked baggage. Had no baht as was going to pay in dollars U.S. 3cheers ATM and that was about it. The overstay was less than one month.

Be polite and mouth mostly shut and the grumpiest Thai is easy to deal with and visa v. Government people are no different than we are. Keep that in mind.

  5. if somebody working at immigration is reading this forum :

why you do not make it possible again to get a re-entry permit at SUVI airport ?

that would be an improvement in stead of going somewhere far far away ....

that is my suggestion for improvment which would make a lot of sense, as it is true the airport that you leave the country

and you have to begg and pay to re-enter, even you paid already your dues at immigration for 'staying' and spending all your money here

Will be a great improvement, when the airport is properly staffed to meet fuller immigration needs.

  6. The issue Vietnam vets is complex. I am not sure if the authorities and doctors really understand how the war really affected these guys.

Should they have sympathy or contempt?

I personally know a few who still have flash backs and start screaming as if they were still in the middle of battle.

And of course a lot of invented symptoms.

I guess losing a war against a small country when you are a huge country, would affect anyone ?

Thw doctors and authorities don't have a clue. They just need us to think they do. There at least on the surface seem to be injustices in the world. However, all any of us can do is, tgheir best. We can't rely on the government for everything.

  7. At least twice my wife's nieces at around 15 have had difficulty keeping their legs closed and their knickers on, and becoming pregnant. My wife's BIL is a policeman and they used him to apply pressure on the boys families. I don't approve and my wife doesn't mention these episodes now. My response is "It takes 2 to Tango", and" They both need a slap, him for not wearing a condom, and her for letting him screw her."

What does it matter as wide spread as it is. Education & jobs. Family dynamic.

  8. Yes, there is no doubt, terrible tragedies now in Thailand. However, these are growing pains and issues. Have taken place in most of the more developed world, maybe all [?] . This will pass and all of Thailand will prosper. Can hardly Wait until next month's return to a loving Thai / Isan wife and beautiful family. Farang / USA / Isan

God Bless Thailand and Lord have mercy. :)

  9. The other option is going to your regional immigration office for a letter of residence. Believe you must do 90 day reports for this. The letter is free according to the rules, but some offices seem to ask for money never the less.

Call your immigration office to see what they require and if they will do it.

Here they send me on a runaround.. acting like they never heard of it. In the end i came back to them and then suddenly they knew what i was talking about (had my Thai wife with me so it was not a language problem).

Lost a day went to city hall.. an other immigration office that told me they should have it but they could not give it to me because i did my 90 day reporting at the other office. So when i came back they still did not understand me just minutes before closing magically the pre printed papers appeared and a week later i could pick it up. So they knew all along just did not want to do it.

Take a Thai with you, offer a gratuity and be polite. I had no problem in Ubon. I brought a Monk friend.
