Are these cards insured by the banks for issues such as this? In this case it's KTB.

Transaction amount - THB 50,000/= (GBP 1160/= Transaction type - Booking dot com Transaction country - Maybe UK She had already informed the card issuer : KTC What is the best course of action to take next? Any journalist worth his salt, has contacts. Politicians, smugglers, terrorists, drug cartel members ... you just name it, they will have some contact or they will create a way of getting through to them. To me, an organization of the caliber of CNN doing this is no surprise at all - in fact, if they cant do anything like this, they might as well close shop! Reporting about road accidents and the like is just peanuts.
