How are they supposed to "get rid of Hamas"? Israel actively helped create and supported Hamas, in order to weaken Arafat's PLO. The strategy was to use this engineered terrorism threat to justify retaliation and the implementation of the occupation as per the Greater Israel plan (cf. Oded Yinon's book The Zionist Plan for the Middle East, 1982) and stall the creation of a Palestinian state. The Intercept wrote a good piece about it (pasting excerpts and the link below). Andrew Higgins also wrote a very good article for The Wall Street Journal on the matter in 2009, How Israel Helped to Spawn Hamas, I am not posting it here as it is accessible behind a paywall, but I recommend it to those interested in furthering their knowledge on the issue. It's a lot more than a few USA protests, there are European protests too, UN spokespeople talking of genocide, the ICJ hearings, the reports of humanitarian aids and journalists killed… All this is unprecedented and disastrous for Israel's image.

Several posters here have repeatedly claimed that what is happening in Gaza is Hamas' fault, while the truth is, in Bibi's own words, what is happening in Gaza is a plan and its stakeholders will carry it out no matter what, even if Hamas gives in to Israel's demands.

I am referring to the hypocritical status quo which has long prevailed worldwide, portraying Israel as a democracy under Islamist threat and therefore legitimately defending itself. Awareness has increased dramatically regarding what Israel really is, and what its intent really is. Yosef Weitz, director of the Land and Afforestation Department of the Jewish National Fund, December 1940: "It should be clear to us that there is no room in Palestine for these two peoples. [...] The only solution is Palestine, at least Western Palestine, without Arabs. There is no room here for compromises!
