Why Do Thai Girls Love Getting Tattoos?

I have a Srilankan friend back in France. 20 years ago, his village was devastated by the tsunami. Millions were collected for relief funds by "charity" organisations, with the involvement of several governments, and I know for a fact that the Srilankan people did not get a cent from it, or mere peanuts. We organised a private fund collection in our circle in early 2005 and this was handed directly to him and his acquaintances (a few thousand euros). This money allowed for the construction of small concrete houses which gave a shelter to several families, allowed the fishermen to get new boats, amenities up and running etc. They were ever so grateful and sent regular pictures of the progress to all those who donated. Charities are like lotteries, once in a while a nice enough cheque is written to perpetuate the illusion, but the vast majority of the funds "disappear" in a purposely opaque array of "processes"… and as another poster here mentioned, the top management are on five-figure salaries… paid for by the donors.

I'm not talking about the volunteers. I help needy people on a regularly basis, usually by paying them decently for menial tasks. Charity boss on trial for £30m fraud A leading French cancer research campaigner has been accused of living the high life in a £10m villa on the Riviera using contributions made to his charity. https://www.theguardian.com/world/1999/may/26/paulwebster

Exactly what I was going to post. You want to help the needy, give them directly, no need to pay for the middleman's Ferrari.

Do you wear a helmet when riding a motorcycle in Thailand?

Regarding the jacket, do you choose a particular material to make it bearable with the heat? Even a zip-up sweater makes me feel very uncomfortable. Maybe it's just a case of getting used to it… -

Jacket and gloves is a bit too much for me (though you are of course right). I drive a PCX with full-face certified helmet, jeans, sneakers and t-shirt. I'm aware that I could hurt myself in the event of an accident, but that's my perfect risk/driving pleasure ratio. -

From his YouTube description: My name is Scotty Asher, known on the Internet as "Scotty Bear," a nickname given to me by a dear friend. Currently experiencing homelessness in the US from the High cost of rent, I decided to embark on an adventure and purchased a one-way ticket to South East Asia. Now, I'm drifting around the continent, trying to escape my past while making a living freelancing and living as frugally as possible. By day, I'm an internet marketer and artist, sharing my nomad journey and experiences through my YouTube channel. Join me as I navigate the highs and lows of life on the road, chasing dreams, and finding myself in the most unexpected places on earth. So he's an idealist. Most idealists are in their 20s but he is in his 40s. If people were to give him money, say $2000, would he use it to go back to the US and land back on his feet? No, he would spend it here and make a video about it. -
President Joe Biden's Historical Legacy is Ruined

Joe Biden's Daughter Ashley Confirms Legitimacy of the 'Showers with Dad' Diary Entry Joe Biden's daughter Ashley Biden's diary, which was stolen and sold for profits, claimed horrifying details of a "hyper-sexualized" childhood. […] Apparently, in one of the excerpts from the diary entry, Ashley wrote about "showering with her dad" at an inappropriate age, fear of being "sexually abused" as a young girl and so much more. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/joe-bidens-daughter-ashley-confirms-legitimacy-of-the-showers-with-dad-diary-entry/ar-BB1pfCEm -
Ah, 2020, "the most secure election in American history"… How could one forget the senile zombie who barely campaigned, couldn’t get anybody to show up to his rallies, and yet managed to receive the most votes in American history with 81 million, all while losing 18 of 19 bellwether counties and winning only 16% of counties overall… I am confident light will be shed on this too, let's not forget what Trump told us at the time, "we caught them all".

Just another day crossing the road...
rattlesnake replied to brewsterbudgen's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
It's a tricky issue and there is no failproof approach to it. If the pedestrians have already started crossing, I will stop too of course, and I agree that anything else that should occur is a different issue and legally won't even be my fault. If they have not started crossing, I will slow down and will typically be doing 5 km/h, i.e. if needed I can stop immediately, but what I will not do is stop and signal them to go. In my view, there are more chances of something going wrong by doing that. "its only the same as stopping when a traffic light changes to red." Not really IMO, Thais generally stop at red lights, or at least are aware that you are supposed to, but they literally don't know what a zebra crossing is, they are just lines on the road to a lot of them and in any case they expect the pedestrians to not cross their path. So they don't even slow down when approaching one. -

so in your opinion everyone who stops on a road is the most dangerous user? In Thailand, often yes… I've clocked quite a lot of miles here too over the past 15 years. No accidents either. I am not criticising your driving which I am sure is fine, just taking the opportunity to point out this fundamental aspect of driving in Thailand. If I were to describe how one should drive here to minimise risks, I would say ultra-defensive at all times while never breaking the momentum, i.e. minimise stops/speed reduction… It's a subtle balance. Stay safe!
