  1. Instead to spend, I save the money for my retirement and this is why I like being in Thailand. I got more for less, when in Europe I would worry of losing job, ... not even sure to live on a retirement pension when I reach the 65yo.(maybe pushed to 95 one day because pension' money (SS for US guys here) is melting like an ice cream under the sun )

you can live decently in Portugal, Bulgaria or Slovakia for less than 600 euros( 24,000 Baht) a month, visa is almost free, good wine in Portugal is only 1.85 euro (75 Baht), you can find a good 35m studio room close to the sea with all utilities paid for 200 euros (7,500 baht).

    .

  2. So you have dated 'dozens' of married women?

All the way low class move. I hope a husband catches up with you one day.

Although most likely, you are just another one of the sexually insecure that come here and end up boasting about your 'conquests'

initially I was unaware of it, they were always saying ohh you cant visit my home because my parents lives with me bla bla, actually I had a clash twice but the dude calmed down when he knew that there were another one as well, actually most of you do it, many Thai women from isaan is already married with some Thai men and they always claim that they are singles !!!

  3. I seriously cant believe the op, even back on 2004 I found the minimum someone could survive decently in Thailand is at least 25K per month or 300K per year, I am sure the op is living in nakhon nowhere with a simple room without furniture, air-con or fridge eating fried rice everyday and riding 5 baht buses !!!, nowadays you need to spend at least 30K per month in Bangkok or 25K elsewhere.

Costs vary a lot depending on where you are. "Elsewhere" is a bit too generalized.

And what's minimum for you for a "decent" lifestyle is different for someone else. I know some people living on very little--even people that have plenty of money. If you are living out in the country there isn't necessarily a lot to spend money on once you are set up.

usually when someone talks about cost of living in any given country it s usually the average cost of the 4 major cities which in Thailand are (Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang mai, Pattaya) , I can hardly imagine anyone living here without spending 1,500 baht per week on essential food and grocery items, even if he eats cheaply at street stalls it s at least 100-80 baht per meal, then adds another 1,000 and if we calculate going out and transportation fees, that s roughly 4,000 baht per week, add utility bills and rental of a very basic room (4,000 baht) and we came to 20,000 anyone living with less than that is living below the line of poverty.

  4. Can I have his job? 65,000 a month,I'll even throw the missus in.

Jobs offering 65+K a month or more is very common place nowadays in Bangkok, just take a look at http://th.jobsdb.com, however the government made it very very tough to hire any foreigners, otherwise we wont have to deal with those very few entitled Thai who fill the criteria for this kind of work.

  5. It's outrageous

the last time I met someone living on a 20K budget a month, he was living miserably in a room covered with green mold on the ceiling somewhere on the outskirt of Bangkok in very far soi full of stray dogs, without air-con, water heater or fridge and eating local Thai food from street stalls, just for the visa run fees you gonna spend a min of 15K per year and that s if you are lucky.

  6. I was married to a middle class Thai woman, she had a good education, financially secure and a job wage above 80K per month, her family had dozens of businesses, yet she vanished all suddenly without trace one day after 6 yrs of being together, i found Thai women much more flaky then western ones for sure.

also I ve dated dozens of married Thai women who were cheating on their farang husbands, one young guy was working his ass in the UK to send her 1500 pounds monthly, yet she was sleeping around with different guys for no obvious reason, she wasn't asking for money, note that her husband was in his 30s n handsome.

    there's the clue^^^^^^

well that guy lived initially in Thailand and was working as a teacher and even had a kid with the woman, so he left his wife and kid living with her mum and lived between UK and Thai while his wife were sleeping around with other men.

  7. I found out that 98% of Thai women have genius skill and talent for hiding their hidden lovers and gigs from their husbands / bfs, go ahead and install spying apps on your gf's phone and you will get shocked, even some Thai men are not aware of it, for eg my ex's sister were dating two Thai men at the same time (old and young), one for money and the younger one for company, also had a clash once with a swiss dude who discovered that his gf was sleeping with me and with another Brazilian guy, he was very furious after he had spent almost 80% of his life savings on her and even bought a land and house for her parents in chiang mai.

  8. during my 15 yrs working in Thailand, I ve experienced numerous Thai employees leaving their jobs and just disappearing without any prior notice to the company , the problem is they didn't complain about any particular problem, some of the jobs had good salaries above 45K per month, latest example is this Thai guy who were hired to work on a remote IT admin job, we were happy because he could speak decent English, after 3 months of wasting time training him, he just disappeared one day claiming that his leg were broken during a football match yet refusing to come to the company to even collect his remaining 8 days payment and asking us to wire it to him which we did, he s a fresh grad with no work experience, we agreed to pay him 48K per month during training time and 65K once he start working seriously with us, any clues why middle educated Thai do that ? this is not the first time.

  9. kind of see from reading this thread where a lot of westerners are going wrong. But then it no doubt went wrong in country of origin. So they come over with a plantation owner mentality and expect Thai women to behave in a western way. No effort made to understand her, because a leopard can't change its spots.

And that attitude is compounded by marrying a lady who expects to be in a financially secure relationship, eastern style.

I married into a Thai Chinese family and made the effort.

That's pretty bizarro, Marco, what your wife (ex) did. Surely you realize that this is not normal behavior..in fact, highly unusual and not at all representative of Thai women in general. Hope you guys didn't have any kids.

we actually had a kid but she aborted the kid without my knowledge, a 1 year later I found out she is in Sweden with some guy, Thai family and friends always have negative opinions and influence, that s why i married again an orphan woman which I strongly recommends to anyone, our relationship wasn't based on financial interests like other guys, yet I had the same outcome.

  12. i had some dealings with couch surfers in pattaya several years ago. i helped put on a party for them. they turned up and all the food and booze seemed to vanish almost immediately. we then went into walking street where 2 of them started fighting over who owed who 5 thb. was glad i did not have any of them staying at my pad.

yup agree, the site used to be great at its inception then it became infested with people trying to take advantage of gullible hosts, I hosted twice and got into a lot of troubles, the site used to have a meetup event where most guys turn up looking for some sex mates, however couchsurfing works great in expensive cities like (NY, Tokyo, London etc..) where accommodation is very expensive, of course not for free as many hosts are looking for solo females or gay surfers in exchange for ahem..

  13. It would seem you have a limited knowledge of Chemistry and Human Physiology.

If you believe cider vinegar is an effective 'cure all' then go ahead and use it yourself but you should not attempt to persuade others to use "natural medicine"

There is no scientific evidence of cider vinegar having any influence on gall stones.

this remedy is reported by thousands of herbal practitioners you can find it on hundreds of websites

once I was threatened by my company because I told some patients to squeeze fresh lemon juice instead of buying vitamin C pills and told someone to eat carrots with papaya instead of buying beta carotene or vitamin A supplements, all these diseases originates from junk food and poor diet I have yet to find someone sick following a healthy diet.

my gf was sick once and was taken to Bangkok hospital and even paid 20K for nothing because no doctors advised her to use the (Ursodeoxycholic Acid), they all said she needed (Cholecystectomy) operation urgently guess why ?? they needed her to pay more bills, if you want I can pm you the scan results before and after this treatment & natural remedies, avoided all risky operation with all its associated side effects.

  14. also switching to a strict vegetarian diet and reducing the daily sodium intake (salt) will speed up dramatically the dissolve process since the Gallstones contains salt and cholesterol, another important info the bile acid is a metabolic byproducts of intestinal bacteria since most Thai don't eat authentic Greek style yogurt, they lack crucially the number of the useful bacteria that produces this useful acid, 98% of Thai yogurts contains too much rice or coconut milk.

Links please to the metabolic pathways that turn "metabolic byproducts of intestinal bacteria" into bile 'acid.'

Any link to a reputed text book or a published scientific paper would be appreciated.

I am aware of the role of gut bacteria but that link does not answer my question or support the claim you made.

    from wikipedia

"Deoxycholic acid, also known as deoxycholate, cholanoic acid, and 3α,12α-dihydroxy-5β-cholan-24-oic acid, is a bile acid. Deoxycholic acid is one of the secondary bile acids, which are metabolic byproducts of intestinal bacteria."

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deoxycholic_acid

  15. A lot of quack nonsense has been posted on this thread. Consumption of vinegar, lemon juice etc alters the pH only in the GI tract and urine. It does not cause the bile stored in the GB to become acidic.

explains to me then why doctors prescribe Ursodeoxycholic acid to treat it ?? if acids have no effects ?

Ursodeooxychlic acid works by suppresses production and secretion of cholesterol in the liver. (Gallstones actually being blobs of cholesterol, not stones).

Nothing whatsoever to do with acidity.

cider vinegar contains Acetic Acid and the organic high quality ones contains chlorogenic acid which has been shown to lower the cholesterol and triglyceride levels according to a study made on 2006 on rats, besides cider vinegar has been used for hundreds of years by thousands of not million of patients,as it s the case with all natural remedies it takes some time to start taking effects but it works wonderfully better then most chemicals, pharmaceutical companies spends billions of dollars trying to persuade people away from natural medicine, healthy lifestyle and exercise yet most chemical medicines are full of toxicities that cause great damage to the liver.

sources (I worked with a major pharmaceutical company for more then 8 yrs.)

  18. PS

The vinegar and oil is complete BS. Oil + vinegar Does absolutely nothing but form fatty lumps in your pooh, which some fools mistakenly think are gall stones coming out. Marcofunny has been taken in by quacks, almost nothing he has posted is legit.

I have given the apple cider remedy to a cousin of mine who has similar condition and his pains always calmed, since cider and lemon juice contains acids just like (Ursolic acid) , this guy did an experiment where he puts real gallstones in vinegar solution and the stones started to dissolve.

  19. What are the usual symptoms of both gallstone problems in general and bile duct blockage?

    • Severe abdominal pain
    • Pain that may extend beneath the right shoulder blade or to the back
    • Pain that worsens after eating a meal, particularly fatty or greasy foods
    • Pain that feels dull, sharp, or crampy
    • Pain that increases when you breathe in deeply

since it s harmless if you drink the apple cider solution and your pains stops then it s a clear indication that your problems are gallstones, there is a scientific proof that apple cider vinegar dissolves liver stones / gallstones.

  20. to treat gallstones, you must do the following.

1 - reduce your cholesterol levels by 50%.

2 - take Ursolin medication (Ursodeoxycholic Acid) 2 pills a day which helps melting down the stones.

3 - drink daily a glass of organic Apple cider vinegar diluted with 100% real apple juice, it relieves instant pains and helps removing the stones.

4 - drink after each oily meal a glass of a freshly squeezed lemon diluted with some water( no sugar added).

follow this treatment for at least 4 months, I don't recommend any operation its side effects outweighs its benefits.

  21. I used to know a Thai women who works as a freelance photograph and is living in Bangkok in a wooden house and paying 500 Baht for the rent, no aircon no shopping, she was surviving very with her wage of 14K and that includes even some occasional beach trips to samui, for example Thai travels in very large group of 4-6 and share accommodation and food which cuts costs dramatically, as for me, only my monthly electricity bill exceeds 7K so I really wonder how these people survive.

  22. what is wrong with you people, stay the hell out of any person if you notice any of the following symptoms, a quick visual examination will save your life from countless health problems later.

1 - extreme coughing with some liquid coming out (could indicate tuberculous)

2 -Yellowish eye ball or any vomiting ( hepatitis or dangerous viral liver diseases ).

3 - any rashes on the skin or on the genital areas ( skin viral STDs).

4 - fatigue, Underweight with reddish eye circle (HIV ).
