Yes a challenge for sure (my wife speaks not to bad english) , But the sons friends mother mentioned to me once that Thais will only speak Thai to one another
This is very true. Whenever my son is with other English speaking Leuk Kreung they only speak Thai.
English has been the language in our house since my son was born although nowadays my wife only speaks Thai to him. Tried the TV in English but like your son he would change it Thai at every opportunity.
You really need to get him into an English programme as he needs constant exposure to English.
I think Sarasass don't let you passed the front desk as they don't want you to see how many kids are in a class. These schools are a franchise and are run as businesses putting profit before education.
Good luck.

40 years ago in Bangkok, I could get a queen bed with a girl near some of the Thai ministry buildings for 90 Baht. That was only for an hour, but who wants to hang around a hotel room all day?
Lucky you, but what does that have to do with hotels in Korat??

The Romyen Garden near Klang Plaza is a great place in the centre of town.
Currently a standard double room is 990 THB.

I would send an email to Julie Duncan with a scanned copy of the letter saying your pension has been stopped.
Shouldn't take her long to sort it out!!
I always send letters Registered post takes 10-14 days but costs less than 100 THB.

I was 54 when my son was born and I it has given me a new lease of life. It has been a wonderful roller coaster of a ride and I have no regrets whatsoever.
However I am 66 now and would not want to embark on that ride now!!

I went straight to the border there last April with both passports in hand and was promptly sent to the Kap Choeng office for them to do the transfer,
So take ubonjoe's advice and stop at Kap Choeng on your way to the border.

I recently upgraded my 3BB package to 50mb/10mb VDSL for 700 Baht pm.

You cannot compare Korat and Bangkok it is like comparing chalk and cheese.
Bangkok is a major metropolis and Korat is just a overgrown country town.

It don't matter if you get a job or not.
You and her will be provided for fairly well.
And at least you will be building up you NI pension contributions.
It may not be much fun for you, but she'll get a better education, and her citizenship upgraded to 'full' (that takes 3 years living in the UK, if she wasn't born there.)
Is that a new regulation? I ask because my son now aged 11 has a British birth certificate and passport and I was told by the Enbassy that his citizenship rights are the same as if he had been born in England.

Maybe it does but all written in Thai.
Ask a Thai what it says

I had a similar situation at Korat Immigration.
My paperwork didn't come back from BKK until 4 days after my "extension of stay" had expired.
Immigration said not to come for another extension until the paperwork came and they stressed I would not be on overstay.
When the paperwork came and I went to get the extension stamped in my passport there were several others who had been waiting past their "under consideration" date.

I got my payment this morning it had been due on the 17th.
My understanding, after speaking to the pension people on Friday, is that my next payment will be in my bank on the 15th October which is 28 days after my September payment was due. So we are back on the original schedule.
The money is still sent via the Bahtnet network and I got 55.13 THB fx rate. Up from 47.64 THB when I got my first pension payment on the 31st of March 2015.

The current (2014) and the previous police order (2008) are written such that an extension based upon being the parent of a Thai are meant to be for a single parent.
The only difference between marriage and being a parent is the that the 400k baht does not have to be in the bank for 2 months. But there are some offices that want it to be in the bank for 2 months for both of them.
OK so it has changed since I was last issued with one in March 2012.
I will ask when I go next week for the 60 day extension if they will give me an annual extension based on my son.
-
The best way would be to contact them in person. I think they will allow joint custody.
If you had problems getting the new one year extension when the divorce is finalized you could apply for a 60 day extension to visit your child then do the one year extension before the 60 days end.
ubonjoe, I am currently on the last 90 days of a Multi Entry Non Imm "O" based on marriage. This expires on the 9th September.
I want to do an annual extension based on having a Thai chilld and showing income of over 40k a month. One of my income letters has been lost in the post and a replacement has been sent but I doubt it will arrive in time for me to get a letter of income from the British Embassy as they require 10 days to issue the letter.
Can I do a 60 day extension based on visiting my Thai child and then get an annual extension towards the end of the 60 days?
You can get the 60 day extension and the apply for the one year extension during the last 30 days of it.
If you are still legally married you will have to apply based upon marriage.
Far be it from me to contradict you but from about 2006 until 2013 I was on an annual extension based on being father of a Thai child whilst being married and living with my wife.
These annual extensions were issued by Korat Immigration.
The first extension was extremely difficult to get and involved a lawyer but I stood my ground, or rather the lawyer did, insisting that if the regulations stated that I could apply for an extension based on my child then I should be issued with one regardless of the fact I was married. After 6 hours of saying no the OIC allowed one the the other officers to call Bangkok for instruction and they were told it should be issued.
Maybe things have changed recently but I will try and get the extension based on my son.
Thanks as always for your help.

I use Hola Free VPN and it works fine most of the time.
When it doesn't work I switch to Hoxx and that works every time but their free service is limited so I only use it as a backup.
