  1. I emailed my travel agent and got the following reply.....

Elite class if your departure dates after 11 Jul until 20 August.

Fare 840 tax approximately 200 totals is 1042.80 validity 6 months and with mileage accrual.

The one you have seen 991! Please check detail of the condition

May be no mileage accrual or validity for 1 month only

Is it possible for you to depart after 21 Aug? It will be 690 not including tax.

It seems that most of the increase in price is seasonal as the ticket I have just purchased is £640 excluding tax.

  2. They've been issuing them for a long time? I got one in '05.

Used to have a 48 page - the old passport, but was told last year in BKK Embassy that they where not issuing a 48 page on the new biometric passport even though advertised on the consulate website...correct me if I am wrong but in 05 the biometric passport hadnt been started to be issued...

I had a 48 page Biometric passport issued in London 3 months ago.

As previously posted they are very fussy about the photos. If you wear glasses even a tiny bit of glare will have the photos rejected. :o

  3. Have never been to one of Martin's p*ss-ups and it has been a long time since I saw him or Yorkie.

So I look forward to seeing you both again on June 14th... :o

By the by what's a good hotel nearby?

It'll be good to see you again Delboy. Are you bringing Cheeky with you?

I hope to bring him with me.

He is in England at the moment I think he is coming back later this month.

Yes it will be good to catch up, it has been a long time since I saw you.

Tell Martin I will take a room at the Majestic for Saturday and Sunday.

I will let him know if I need one for Cheeky once I know.

  4. They don't make it easy for the ones that wont to stay in the land of smiles. We as a collective spend a fortune every month, I agree that the government should step in and take notice of us long standing farangs over here, especially if we have Thai partners or children with them.

My 1 year ME visa run out 2 months ago, and reading through a-lot of post in many forums about renewing it over here, seems to be a nightmare, like many things here in thailand for farangs.

Please make things easier for US farangs not only on the visa situation but also on farangs owning freehold property and land, that would be my message to the government.

    Then life would be sweet.

I have never had a nightmare extending my visa either when it was based or marriage or now based on living with my Thai child.

Just follow the rules and provide the documents required and it's a breeze.... :o

  5. Try Sebatien at Isaan Lawyers one of the sponsors of this forum.

He employs excellent Thai lawyers and has a resident translator to ensure nothing is "Lost in Translation".

His office is in Korat but he has been known to visit clients in other Isaan locations.

Click the link at the top of the page.

  6. I went to the Koh Chang restaurant in Korat last night and the ban was beiing rigorously enforced.

This restaurant is entirely open, even the part with a roof has no enclosed sides.

The manager said that the local police come round every night to make sure they are enforcing the ban.... :o:D

  7. These "rumours" as many of you call them are NOT unsubstantiated or unreliable.

Several people in Korat have spoken to Immigration and been told the same thing. Korat, Hat Yai and Chang Mai offices are up for closure.

Isaan Lawyers posted in good faith what they have been told by Immigration officers.

In Korat Immigration asked for a copy of the petition against the closure to be left at the Immigration office for visitors to sign.

Draw your own conclusions... :o :rolleyes

  9. A petition has been made by local farang in Korat. A copy is available at George and Dragon, Sports and Cocktails and Isaan Lawyers' office. If you can sign this petition as quick as possible, we were told by an immigration officer in Korat that this might help. We probably have only one week.

Please if you have anything to do with Korat either sign the petition or send a PM with your thoughts to Dutch.

We have about 45 signatures which is just not enough.

I see more farang than that whenever I go to The Mall.... :o:D

  10. Here is a link to the topic on the Korat forum:

    http:// koratfarang.com/board/index.php?topic=2875.0

They are doing a petition and email campaign to try to keep the office open. Go to the forum and check out the details.

If you are affected by the proposed closure of this office please click on the link above and go sign the petition or send an email of support.

We have a People Power Party Government now so maybe Farang People Power can help keep this office open.... :o:D:D

  11. A link to FBI in Udon is available through a sponsor of this Forum, Isaan Properties.

Isaan Properties is a network of Real Estate Agents, Property Developers, Bulders and Architects throughout Isaan.

We so far have Agents in Udon, Nong Khai, Roi-Et, Ubon, Khon Kaen and Korat.

Click the link at the top of the page.

  12. I have a quick question for Khorat based expats, or others who know the city well.

How much would it cost to buy or to rent a shophouse in downtown Khorat? With a shophouse I mean the typical 3 story building you see in all Thai cities, with room for a shop, office or restaurant downstairs, and rooms to live in on the other 2 floors. And how difficult would it be to find something like this? Thanks in advance for useful input.

Why don't you contact the sponsors of this forum by clicking on the banner at the top off the page.

I am sure they will be able to help you... :o

  13. In July we had a very successful party with guests from all over Isaan.

We are having another party this year on Monday December 10th, it is Constitution Day which is a public holiday, from Noon until it ends..... :D

The main reason for the party is that it is my son Matthew's 3rd birthday.

We will have a Bouncy Castle and a Slider for the kids

I hope that all of you who came last time and some of you didn't will be able to make it..... :bah:

I think we will follow the same format as last time with a Farang Style BBQ and Thai food for those who prefer.

Bring whatever you want BBQd and your favourite tipple, alcoholic drink for non English speakers... :D:D

My house is approx 35-40 kms from Korat and easy to find I will pin a map nearer the time.

The invite is open to all bring your wife/gf/both and kids. My house and village are very kid friendly.... :bah::o .

Please post or PM me if you are coming and with whom.

Hope to see you December 10th... :o:D

  14. what would an approximate cost be ?

Depends on the land office on the government fee. We have done some usufructs with government fees around 100 Baht. Some land offices wanted a higher tax of up to 15K

Our professional fee on drafting the usufruct is 9,500 Baht. For registration at the Land Dept its 8,500 Baht.

I don't understand this huge variance in government fees.

Is there not a set fee for registration at the Amphur??

Earlier this year I had 3 Usufructs arranged by a lawyer in Korat (Korat Lawyers) and if I remember correctly the fees at the Amphur were 100 baht per Chanoot.

Tea money was a £10 note and my wife got a lecture on the evils of giving a farang rights on land in Thailand... :o

My wife made a will at the same time leaving everything to our son. The lawyer felt this was an essental part of the process.
