  1. Living 2 hrs from an immigration office, it's a real pain in the butt getting a residence cert for every little thing. In particular, dealing with the land transport office. My one attempt at getting a yellow book derailed on a certification issue with marriage cert.

If you live close to an immigration office, not so much of an issue.

  2. I bought a used Ford Ranger a couple of weeks ago. No problem getting the reciept in my name, because it was a private sale, and cash.

For the rego transfer, I went to Sisaket immigration office to get a residence certificate. Not had a problem previously, just take a passport photo. But for rego transfer, I had to go to the Land Transport Office, to ask for a letter requesting the residence certificate. Took it back to immigration, got the cert, then back to transport for the transfer. Bloody hell.

Then, had to wait a week and a half, because I had it changed from Bangkok plates to Sisaket.

    All a bit painfull.

As well, had to put it over the pit for inspection at transport office.

  3. The thai buddhists in the south can't be happy. How can you be, when your friends and family are randomly murdered by the followers of this evil cult. It appears that mainly the people who try to help them are killed. Nurses, teachers, police etc. Myanmar buddhist know how to deal with them.

  4. I did mine 10 days ago. Same deal. Very easy. Shop across the road will check you have the right papers, even fill out and print the application form. Cost only 80 baht for peace of mind. Drop in there, and then stroll across the road knowing that all is well. Pick up passport with visa next day. 5000 tb for the visa pay to consulate. I went first bus over the bridge in the morning, finished by 9.30 odd.

  5. It's not about giving money to the family, it's about chipping in to pay for the funeral. The amounts are recorded in a book, and when they come to your event, they are obliged to reciprocate. As well, each household will have 2 small yellow books which record what is paid out, and what is paid back.

Consequently, I generally don't give more than 500, so as not to burden the poorer people. But if they are friends, or doing it hard, I slip them a thousand bypassing the book. Sorry I don't have a pic of the book. Not house book. Smaller.

  6. If I'm really pissed, and not hurt too bad, I'll get back on my bike and get the <deleted> away before some bugger recognise me.

Otherwise, if I can't ride, I just start yelling and accuse the unconscious victim. Has worked before. After checking their pockets of course. Don't want the bloody ambos stealing from them.

  7. Hi guys. I have today collected my passport from Savannakhet thai consulate, with a multi entry non o visa based on marriage. This is the first time.

At the moment, I am in Ubon city, and must return to Australia in a couple of days. The reason I got this visa was that immigration told me that they would not give me any more visa exemption. I have done that 8 years now and 35 entries.

So, someone said to me today, that I need to get a reentry permit before I leave los. I had not heard of this before, and a forum search was fruitless. Is this correct, or is that only after one year and the visa extended?

I work 4 wks on and 1 wk off, could I run into problems with this visa?

Sorry for being naive guys, but I didn't expext to get non o visa until I stop work another 18 months....unless Aus govt change superannuation rules. Thanks

  8. Generally you should have 50mm concrete cover. If you don't, water will seep through the concrete, causing the reo to rust, which will in turn, expand the reo with growing rust and it will bust out your concrete. In high rise, they call this concrete cancer.

For wet areas, like water storage, the norm would be 65mm, for the same reason.

    Cheers.
