  1. He is such a bizarre human being. I wonder what he was like when he was younger? Before he was crazy rich, and before people listened to everything he had to say, as if it were gospel. He has likely aways been a bit insane. But, I would guess his over the top, rather unhinged behavior has gotten worse. It must be a terrible thing to have millions of followers, billions of dollars, and try to remain well adjusted.
  2. Great satire. Bordering on Carlinesque!
  3. He returned to the gas station saying that when he came out of the loo there was another vehicle blocking his line of sight. So, he never saw if he acctually had a passenger in the back. He assumed his passenger was lying down asleep. Huh? Really? A responsible driver always confirm his passengers have returned to the car. Always. Anything to save face, after getting busted, and caught with his pants down. It comes down to perhaps the single most significant weakness most Thai people have. The pathological fear of losing face. Who cares what people think of you? For those of us with high self esteem, it just does not matter. Sure, maybe close friends and family. I ut strangers? It means nothing what they think, nor what they say about you. Nothing, less than zero. They count for nothing. They are just people, and people you do not know, nor will ever see again. Face is rife with self doubt, and by subscribing to this weakness, and man or woman is made a far lesser person. I consider the practice of face to be the polar opposite of the practice of Buddhism, which teaches the need for introspection, contemplation, owning up to a problem, and taking responsibility for issues, problems and tragedies that you create in life.
  4. The seas are calmer today, and the ferries are running again. Now, the entire system is completely backed up and two days behind, at peak season. They could have run yesterday, but it appears the local mayor over reacted. Timidity.
  5. More than half of 17.5 million users who responded to a poll that asked whether billionaire Elon Musk should step down as head of Twitter voted yes when the poll closed on Monday. There was no immediate announcement from Twitter, or Musk, about whether that would happen, though he said that he would abide by the results. https://www.npr.org/2022/12/19/1144071661/twitter-musk-poll-ceo
  6. You want to lower crime in Phuket? Start with the police. Lower the crimes they commit. Then move onto the local government. Saying you want a place to be crime free, is like saying you want the water to be clean, or you want 100% occupancy all the time. Or you want no traffic accidents. It is merely silly PR and wishful thinking, backed up by nothing.
  7. The poll was answered. Almost 60% said yes, please, please resign. And what was his reply? Well, there is nobody to replace me. Such humility. Some people just have a way of alienating most everyone. Elon is not wearing his power lightly, nor with grace.
  8. That is a large ship to go down in the Gulf. We are not talking about a huge body of very deep water. How does a ship of that size go down? What were the factors? Was the likely lack of maintenance an issue?
  9. I focus alot on the glass being half full in my private life. Never, when it comes to the leadership here, who have failed the people on countless levels. P. S - Prayuth appreciates you being one of several dozen remaining supporters.
  10. They are mostly private in the US. And I don't see that happening here. These guys are not serious enough. However, the Biden administration has allocated billions of dollars across the 50 states and Puerto Rico to help develop the infrastructure to fuel electric vehicles.
  11. YES! You have been and continue to be a walking disaster. Go back to selling cars, so the shareholders can regain their losses. You seem to be far more talented at the EV market, than the tweet market.
  12. Give Thailand 10 years or so, to prove they are serious about EV's and that they will spend the money on charging stations. In the meantime, say no to Elon!
  13. Keeping the nation safe by preventing the youth from learning proper English. This is real progress and wisdom in action. Depend upon Prayuth for that.
  14. They are like minded. Thankfully the locals are not murderous, though. This administration has never been known for taking a moral stand, nor for it's own morality or ethics. No real effort was ever made to fight corruption, malfeasance, or a crooked judiciary. Prayuth and his kind must go.
  15. PayPal can be used in Thailand, without many difficulties. But, the account has to be set up in your home country. I use it here all the time. Have a business debit card where I can pay or withdraw funds. People can pay me from anywhere. But, it was set up in the US, and it is linked to US bank accounts.
  16. The man who was banned due to his popularity, and the dinosaur's pathological fear of the youth movement, has something to say, and should be listened to. I have no idea why the people are not rising up at this time. Have they been cowed into submission.
  17. Thanks. Based upon your recommendation I booked several psychiatric sessions with a shrink who specializes in MAT (mask aversion therapy), and DNN (denial of new normal).
  18. To think that this man, who possesses absolutely nothing in the way of leadership ability, said he only wanted to be a caretaker PM for 2 years. And now the power has created such thirst, such desperation, such megalomania, and such greed, that he cannot let it go. How power can transform a man. Not to mention the fortune one at the top of the TPPS (Thai power pyramid scheme) can earn.
  19. The risk right now is very, very low. It is a very minor calculated risk, in exchange for the paranoia, discomfort, and limitations of mask wearing.
  20. I am very fortunate as I am still here. No place else I would rather be. Especially Europe or the US. I am one of the proud escapees.
  21. Was she wearing the very best helmet she could afford?
  22. Prayuth, Anutin and Phiphat could not have done a better job of sabotaging a vital industry, if they were actually trying to do so. If anyone did not see the reasons to oust these guys before, the vaccination drive alone is all the indictment the nation needs. No question, with the exception of some infrastructure, Thailand has been moving backwards for the past decade. On nearly every level. It did have a good run. Those days are behind it. So much self sabotage has been inflicted on this rather resilient nation, it would be a near impossibility for it to pull itself out of the abyss, shake off the molasses, and move forward. A very dynamic leader like Thanathorn would at least give the nation a chance at having a future. The current creeps do not. Japanese companies are relocating. Despite the constant lies, foreign investment is way down. Tourism is all but finished. I understand why nearly a million youth are on FB, trying to figure out a way out. The future must look very bleak to them. For many of us, who are fortunate enough to not have a business here, things are simpler, and less complicated. All we have to do is deal with the continuous daily drivel of these goons in charge. This will likely be a two to five year shake out. The financial devastation to the economy is bad. And it will be sustained. Massive unemployment. Millions are out of work.
  23. Quite false, from what I understand. But, since when did truth or facts means anything to Anutin and his house of goons?
  24. 95% of us ex-pats are done with masks. Only Thais continue to be obsessed with masks. So, drop the silly advice, please.
