  1. Their relationship with truth is such a strange and bizarre thing to witness. This out of control road construction has been going on for how long 15 years already? And they're only to kilometer 37. My understanding is that the first leg of this is supposed to go to Petchaburi, which is another hundred kilometers or more, and this is going to be done in 12 months?

I have a bridge to sell you and I can offer you a really good deal.

  2. Justice Minister Tawee Sodsong, you are guilty as the day is long, there is nothing you can say to us, there is nothing you can say to the Thai people that will convince more than a handful of people otherwise. We all realize this was a quid pro quo between the army and PT, to steal the election from Pita and the people, allow Thaksin to return, and provide him with guarantees that he would never serve time in prison.

This deal was filthy, you are a morally bankrupt and complicit man, and you are guilty as charged. You and your cronies have no honor, sir.

Well, of course this depends upon various factors, including insulation, size of room, efficiency of the AC unit, and other factors.

I use ACs that have an EER of 23, or above,  (measured in BTU units not Kcal).  Anyway, these are among the most efficient that are available to the consumer in Thailand in this market.  I use Panasonic inverters. And, I use the most expensive models of the Panasonic inverters.  BUT, as everybody here know, I am NOT satisfied with the quality, compared to the Panasonic ACs I bought in Taiwan/Japan.  I do not know what is causing this. Maybe different quality for different markets, etc....

Also, you need to be careful when thinking that it is best to turn the AC off when you leave the room for a short period of time...

    Why?

Because, there is data that shows that it is more efficient to allow the AC to remain on, and maintain a constant temperature, rather than to turn it off for a few hours, and then try to use the AC to re-cool the room, starting at a very high room air temp.

You can google this point, too.

NOTE:  It sounds to me as if you may be using a non-inverter type AC, or one which might have a problem with the thermostat, or some other problem.

The Panasonic inverters that I have can maintain PLUS/MINUS 1 degree C temperature range when set to 22 degrees.  But then you need to select AUTO fan.  (I once had a defective Panasonic machine that was totally unable to maintain the selected air temp in the room.  I finally was able to get the company to allow a return to the factory in Malaysia. or....I really do not know what they did with that defective machine.)

I have a fairly high-end Panasonic Inverter in my bedroom and it's absolutely fantastic, best AC I've ever used.

I posted my question because I try to understand why you would buy and ride such scooters.

I tried one of those things and personally I don't like it.

I understand when people ride them who don't know, and don't want to learn, how to use a clutch and gears.

I understand when old people ride them - they couldn't handle anything bigger.

I have difficulties understanding why anybody to knows how to ride a bike and is able to do that prefers a scooter like above.

Why don't you enlighten me - and probably many other like me?

What is it what you like with those things?

Little engine, bad brakes, bad suspension, what's to like about that?

I agree, I find them lightweight, and quite stiff, and it feels as if they're made for people 60 kilos or less, without a passenger on board.

I prefer something like this which is technically still a scooter, but it's powerful, super comfortable and a lot of fun to drive, and it really suits somebody with a larger frame.

  5. Oh my God I have to have one of those dolls, Lisa has one. How can I possibly live without having the same thing that Lisa has. My life would have no meaning. I must buy one immediately!

I want to know what is the definition of a counterfeit doll? Is it not made by a company that has a big name? Is it 1/10 the price because of that? And what difference does it make, a doll is a doll, and nonsense is nonsense.

  6. Rule #6. Ignore their timetable, play things out exactly as you want to play things out, and take your time. If it's good it's only going to get better, if there are issues they're going to reveal themselves over time. Two years minimum, before you can call it serious. Never use the love word, within the first year or two. Do you love me baby? No. I do like you. There is potential here. But, I need time. Never allow yourself to succumb to her time table, as they always seem to want push things. Don't let that happen, push back, and do whatever you can to make her aware of this.

I am not a wallflower, and we're going to do things at my pace. Don't like that? OK, no problem. I am moving on. See ya.

Yes, if your model works. But why then aren't you crying foul for every police general and all ranks below, if that's the way it works. Knocking off the top tiers of a pyramid has no effect on the stability of the pyramid. Remove all senior sergeants might have more of an effect. They seem to be involved in all things bent. Crucifying Hakparn won't achieve anything. He'll just be replaced by a stooge from party HQ, aka Tony Towers. Hakparn's the only hope, our man on the inside. Get rid of the cancerous cohorts!

While I appreciate your optimism, to my mind it's a bit like saying that Trump is an outsider and he's going to clean up the swamp. It's a great slogan, I saw absolutely no indication of it during 4 years of his presidency and I certainly never bought into the hyperbole.

  8. When covid came along it is my belief that humans had a generational opportunity to show their higher nature, and instead what happened was that businesses both large and small saw an opportunity and seized it by decreasing portions, raising prices, cutting customer service, and doing whatever they possibly could to scalp and raise profits. Many would argue that some of this has to do with the very nature of covid and the need to survive. But I would argue that a lot of it was just bald opportunism and absolute greed, and the result is that we've seen stunning inflation and prices rise dramatically.

Without evidence? That was a very stupid comment.

I'm not implying that he should be locked up without a trial, what I'm saying is that I believe he is likely corrupt, and I'm hopeful that there will be enough evidence, and that there will be enough political will to convict the guy and lock him up.

The other aspect of this is that police should be held to a higher standard then the average citizen, so if a cop gets busted for corruption isn't it reasonable that perhaps he should face a stiffer sentence than the average person?

Quite agree, but @spidermike007 makes it his prerogative to find this guy guilty before any trial has even been mooted. So, I find you guilty, spider, of all kinds of stuff because you're a foreigner, and we all know foreigners are all guilty as hell. So we're going to deport you. No, no appeal. No point protesting. This not your country. Go home. Next!

That's a good one, I appreciate your sense of humor. Let me ask you one question, we all know that the vast majority of foreigners here are good, law-abiding, decent individuals who have spent their lives working and are now enjoying a very pleasant retirement and contributing to society on at least a few different levels.

However we also know that most police here are corrupt, most police here can be bought, and the RTP is likely the biggest pyramid scheme in Thailand. So it stands to reason that the top brass of the RTP enjoy the biggest endowments of all due, to the nature of a pyramid scheme. Does this make any sense to you?

  11. Air Asia has been interested in using Hua Hin as a regional hub, for years now, and all they have ever gotten is neanderthal style foot dragging from the officials here. Hua Hin Airport is one of the least utilized airports in Thailand, possibly even in the world. Shame on these guys. They can do so much better. Thailand desperately needs more regional airports, especially within a few hours of Bangkok. Anything to ease congestion, and save souls from the nightmare of getting in and out of Bangkok has to be a good thing for the nation and it's people. Shame. Shame.

A few years ago: “We will begin by growing the flight base at Hua Hin Airport with a focus on international destinations, and domestic travel and our numbers will take time to grow.  We will get started immediately working with the town and recruit local businesses to participate in our new programs, Open to the World and LIVE-LEARN-WORK-PLAY, in Hua Hin,” Laroche said. Ha. What happened? Nothing.

And so? When? How? Why not? Why is this taking so many years? What is really going on here?
