Well just for the sake of playing devil's advocate, what do you think the average man really knows about his wife when he marries her in the West? Without actually hiring a private detective, how does he have any idea where she's been, who she's been with, how many lovers she's had, or whether or not she's ever been freelancing? No man really knows any of that stuff. They assume that their woman is pure as the driven snow and they desperately want to believe her when she says she's only had three lovers prior to him. I know that I've been out with women who have been with hundreds and hundreds of men, so is that that much different from a semi-pro here who's been with a couple of hundred men?
A lot of guys get hung up on the whole purity aspect of this whole thing, but there are an awful lot of women in the West that would qualify as being working gals, under a rather liberal definition. Are multiple dinners, cash gifts, and prizes really any different than an agreed to price?
Which one is more honest?

There's no better time to travel outside the country then April in Thailand. I am going to be traveling too and hopefully when we get back the weather will be a little cooler, and the rains would have started. This heat is incredible.

Air Asia has been interested in using Hua Hin as a regional hub, for years now, and all they have ever gotten is neanderthal style foot dragging from the officials here. Hua Hin Airport is one of the least utilized airports in Thailand, possibly even in the world. Shame on these guys. They can do so much better. Thailand desperately needs more regional airports, especially within a few hours of Bangkok. Anything to ease congestion, and save souls from the nightmare of getting in and out of Bangkok has to be a good thing for the nation and it's people. Shame. Shame.
A few years ago: “We will begin by growing the flight base at Hua Hin Airport with a focus on international destinations, and domestic travel and our numbers will take time to grow. We will get started immediately working with the town and recruit local businesses to participate in our new programs, Open to the World and LIVE-LEARN-WORK-PLAY, in Hua Hin,” Laroche said. Ha. What happened? Nothing.
And so? When? How? Why not? Why is this taking so many years? What is really going on here?

This is great news, many of us feel that the Thai baht has been overvalued for a very long time, now that money is being withdrawn from the markets and more than likely foreign investments are down, along with manufacturing and exports, we're finally seeing the long overdue correction over the past year or so.
May it continue and may the baht drop another 20%. The officials deserve that with their constant stream of wrong headed policies. And the appointment of a nitwit like Srettha, as finance minister, as well as PM. As if one position isn't important enough.

We want to get back to 40 million tourists a year, oh now we want to grow it to 160 million tourists a year. Oh wait, hold on a minute I think now we think that 40 million tourists here might be too much and we should impose a tax to slow down the incessant growth.
What can one even say, there is such an incredible lack of policy when it comes to one administration after another. Absolutely no vision, no ability to see the future on any level.
I said this a long time ago and I'll say it again, quantity over quality is always a big mistake unless you're selling $2 items at a swap meet. That defines Thai tourism in 2024.

Another Thai news report that fails to fully convey what's really been going on lately with COVID in Thailand. While the latest single week hospitalization numbers reported by Thai PBS are correct as far as they go...
What they fail to report is that new weekly COVID hospitalizations in Thailand had been rising steadily since well before Song Kran, and in fact have DOUBLED in the past six weeks since mid-March, as shown below from the MoPH's weekly COVID reports:
March 16 -- 501
March 23 -- 630
March 30 -- 728
April 6 -- 774
April 13 -- 849
April 20 -- 1,004
Links to all of those weekly reports have been posted here:
and also are available directly from the MoPH here:
https://ddc.moph.go.th/covid19-dashboard/?dashboard=main
What the Thai PBS report also doesn't tell you is that the latest weekly total of 1,004 new COVID hospitalizations is Thailand's highest weekly tally of those since early July 2023, almost a year ago, when the number hit 1,193.
And, that Thailand experienced a similar seasonal COVID hospitalizations spike a year ago, starting in mid-April 2023 and continuing thru mid-July 2023 that saw new weekly COVID hospitalizations peak at 3,085 by early June 2023. So the numbers this year may well continue rising in the weeks ahead.
And how many younger folks, without any pre-existing issues are dying from it? Likely less than the flu.

You think it would be good for a society for all women to walk around topless?
You raise a good point and I don't think it would be a problem at all. However the biggest issue would be the fat, ugly and old women walking around topless. That could be traumatic, and unfortunately it would not just be the young and pretty ones!
So probably best leaving people covered up for now.

Thailand is a first world country with a third world mentality
I know they like to say that they are first world, but I don't buy that. Certain sections of Bangkok are certainly comparable to first world, but once you get outside of three or four main cities, it's very third world on a lot of levels.
Just look at the rail transport, the lack of cargo transport, the choked highways, the lack of law enforcement, traffic safety, there are so many factors.

The first thing the PM would have to negotiate would be a exception to the ridiculous military monopoly on the airspace in Thailand. For any F1 race to be held properly, many helicopters need to be used, and right now that's a very difficult proposition with the extreme level of control that the toxic military holds over the Thai people.
-
The best peaceful solution would be for the Army to surrender, for the generals to resign, for them to give the nation back to the democratically elected folks, and for the generals to take their billions and going to exile, and leave the Burmese people alone forever.

April through June always seem to be very hot here but I never remember seeing temperatures like this, in a decade and a half. I'm heading out next month for a month in Europe, should be a nice relief from this heat.

Yeah - this plant-base **** may appeal to some of the Lefty Eco-warrior type in BKK...but for the other 60 million people in Thailand? Meat markets aren't going out of style in my life-time. Not in Asia.
"The billionaire class will force governments to outlaw meat for the commoner scum."
Right - you do that at the risk of social discord and social uprisings. Oppression works until it fails.
Remember: Liberté, égalité, fraternité
Are you assuming that the meat that you eat is clean? That it's been raised properly, that it's been processed properly, that the diet was not full of hormones and chemicals?
Secondarily what about the process meats that you eat, do you have any idea how toxic that crap is?
No reason to get all defensive about an alternative lifestyle and diet, there's a lot of valid reasons why a lot of us don't need meat.

So far I only see one brand in the supermarkets, so my question is where can you buy this stuff, and why is the distribution so poor?
-
As far as I'm concerned if the average person had to slaughter, and dress a cow, a lamb, or a pig, most would not be eating meat.

He seems to be really upset and quite offended that his absolute authority has been questioned, and he seems to be even more offended by the fact that his image as Mr. Clean has been erased from the face of the earth. He is a top ranking officer in the RTP and therefore he's guilty by association and guilty until proven innocent.
We all know how these organizations work and the number of straight and clean people in the RTP could probably be counted on one hand.
Lock this guy up.

I would say there is a big difference.
But some, and many on this forum can not see the difference
I know the difference. And I used to pick up civilians. Later, I found it to be far more honest and simpler to do PFP. Most women here who charge for their services, are infinitely more honest and straight forward than alot of women back in the US. Alot less of a song and dance.

Ridiculously trite . Where and when have I indicated affection for communist countries? I can and will ignore your instruction to go anywhere.
The only change in the disparity of relative quality in years of life since the proclaimed defeat of communism and fascist authoritarianism since ww2 are the flags of sycophantic nations that bow to the flag featuring an endangered eagle.
Was that not a critique of a nation that holds elections and has some free press? And does not assassinate its citizens when critical? And a bizarre statement that somehow the people of Cuba, Russia, Yemen, North Korea and China have the same quality of life as those in the US and the West?
I've been to Cuba many times I can tell you first hand that 99% of Cubans have an incredibly low quality of life, live in great poverty, earn very little money, have terrible health care (despite Michael Moores nonsense to the contrary) and have some of the worst agrarian environments to be found anywhere.

Well there is an area of science that believes that very long-term behavioral patterns become part of one's genetics. We're talking about centuries and centuries of misbehavior murder, and pillaging, from the Cossack raiders, all the way through to Lenin, Stalin and Putin. All maniacs. So perhaps it is a combination of both.

Well this administration be able to find it within themselves to be decent and compassionate toward political refugees, who are being slaughtered, raped and maimed in their homelands by a pig army?
Or will they be sent back in a nasty and not so neighborly fashion?

Whatever you do, do not curtail our power, we are used to having nearly unlimited power, access to ridiculous amounts of money in our budgets, and being told nothing by anybody.
Nobody should get in our business, we are above the law, we are the most important institution in the land, and we provide so much for the Thai people. Thailand could not exist without us, so do not meddle in our affairs. Or else.

Asking a Russian to be respectful and to not be rude is like asking an indigenous Alaskan to not eat fish. It's a bit like asking a Frenchman to demonstrate affection toward an American, or asking a Thai government official to show warmth and hospitality toward an expat living here.

I don't respect any white man that calls other white men 'farang'!
Who anyone is banging or why or for what ........ don't really care.
Thailand provides prostitutes to the world, it's what the Thais are famous for.
I didn't make it that way, don't blame me or any other white men.
I tend to agree with that, and I usually use the word foreigner. Don't even respond to this guy, his level of ignorance is so astonishing that he's been elevated to the top of the heap, when it comes to the dumbest and most inane reply of the week.
Granted there is a percentage of foreigners who come here and marry bar girls or prostitutes. But my guess is that it's the minority. And even so I don't hold it against the guy. Many of the younger and prettier women that have been with in America have slept with hundreds of men, so what's the difference? They usually slept with them for cash, gifts, and rewards.
To imply that Western women are innocent and Thai women are guilty of being cunning manipulative and using their sexuality is fairly strange. Yes, Thais are more skillful, but only because they're in touch with their femininity and they realize how incredibly sexy that is to most men.

Embattled deputy police chief claims PM has abused authority
in Thailand News

That's a good one, I appreciate your sense of humor. Let me ask you one question, we all know that the vast majority of foreigners here are good, law-abiding, decent individuals who have spent their lives working and are now enjoying a very pleasant retirement and contributing to society on at least a few different levels.
However we also know that most police here are corrupt, most police here can be bought, and the RTP is likely the biggest pyramid scheme in Thailand. So it stands to reason that the top brass of the RTP enjoy the biggest endowments of all due, to the nature of a pyramid scheme. Does this make any sense to you?
