  1. Yet another example of Thailand's disgrace.  When will the Government respond?  When will they supply the police with chase vehicles, active patrol of the roadways.  Where are the Radar Guns I read would be supplied to the Police 8-10 years ago.  It is not so bad the driver killed himself, it was his own fault  after all.  But what about the passengers.

This is again proof that  the government does not care about it's citizens.

  2. We could make an arbitrary guess that Tourism has been reset to 40 years ago levels...after there is a vaccine..  Let us also guess that available excess income does not return to the consumer  for 5-10 years.  Air carriers not recovering  again for at least 5 years to a level simiar to 5- 10 years ago.  The days of inexpensive holidays I think are gone.  I believe economies will be reset away from dependence on tourism  doestic and international.

  3. In the U S even those caught Red Handed with multiple witnesses plead Not Guilty.  I would support her fear of contracting Covid 19 while incarcerated.  Bail could be granted with restrictions.  Such as: Remaining in an approved Hotel or other habitation,  Electronic ankle bracelet,  at least two correction officers or police in residence, no internet or phone access,.  Everything paid for by herself.  Access to no one but her Attorney and Prosecutor outside of the resident security staff.

  4. This was during the holiday weekend.  Traffic was terrible.   The recent redesign of the traffic stripes has left motorcyclists at extreme risk.  Couple that with the well known excessive speeds and a distinct lack of needed traffic lights  the deaths will continue in Hua Hin.  A better monitering of traffic is desparetly needed.  Especially on holiday's.

  5. I would hope it was time to scrap more than just two tiered pricing.  A type O visa requires at least 800,000 Baht in a Thai Bank sixty days before visa renewal.  Meaning you must have more income to cover expenses in the sixty days leading to visa renewal.  A type O A is 400,000 Baht.  A Government employee with multi years experience and training is only earning in the neighborhood of 360,000 Baht.

Additionally a Type O visa holder is required to have insurance  which is approved (and has been invested in by the Thai Soveriegn Wealth Fund).  The cost varies by coverage and age but let us approximate the cost being 60-70,000 Baht.  The Insurance must be paid and certified prior to visa renewal.  My estimation is one must have (for a Type O Visa) 1,000,000 Baht.  I don't fault the need for Inurance.  Type O A visa holders who are not required to have Insurance are  gambling if living here uninsured.  Personally I do not frequent places with the dual pricing as it is not a payment I am willing to make.

  6. Tland is lucky to have so few cases of CoV 19.  Since restrictions have eased  caution has been thrown to the wind except the wearing of masks.  I often go to Market Village shopping mall, Hua Hin.  Not much social distancing there.  I live in a Condo that has an attached Hotel (Hua Hin).  Apparently the hotel is heavily discounting room rates.  On a recent Saturday the hotel guests accounted for more than sixty children and adults in the swimming pool at the same time.  There is also a Hostes Bar and an additional Karaoke Bar.  I doubt the 22 rules will be followed by either when they reopen.

  7. Do you have to be 50 years or older to change from Non-O to O/A or is age not an issue at all?

    Robert

The Non O-A Visa is for retirement, you have to be over 50, meet the financial requirements and it can only be obtained in your own country.

For a 12 month extension in Thailand for reitrement you have to be 50.

Last year I applied/received my Type O visa in the U S (L.A.Consulate) Acquired all paperwork and was approved. Three weeks ago I applied for and received my first extension in Thailand. I was required to go to my Embassy in Bangkok for a rubber stamp income verification then back to the Immigration office with photo's, House registration book and application for my my passport stamp. You must also get a 90 day stamp every 90 days. This according to new rules must be done at the Immigration office closest to your Thai home Changwat.

  8. One trip for Type O Visa is not true. With a type O visa yearly, you must get your visa renewed. Every 90 days you must get an extension stamp. This must (now) be done at the Immigration office that your home is registered near. For example; My home registration is Hua Hin, I get my stamp from the Singkhon Immigration office. This is the office for (Changwat) Prachuap Khirikhan. Fortunately for me the location is in Hua Hin.

  9. My wife is currently registered on her Blue Residency Book along with her sisters, father, mother, brother in la, niece etc etc. Every time we wish to open a bank account or any other new membership we are asked to provide the Blue Residency Book.

We are married together and have one child (from her ex husband) and one more of ours due to be born in June.

We are living in Phuket and the family is living in Issan so its not something we can keep at our place.

Can we make one of the Blue Books of our own for our place in phuket?

I am a foreigner here on a type o visa (renewable yearly) When I opened my bank acct I was only asked for my passport to copy for the bank records. I had to show for copy our blue book for my visa renewal only. I am surprised your wife needs more than her I D card. If you have a title to your property Blue(rental) I think has another color book you should be able to get at the Umpur.
