It must have been signed a work contract as this is required to obtain a WP.

Suggest you start there to see what actually has been agreed. Its a lot more easy to seek correct  advice when you understand what you have signed on …:coffee1:

I think both scooters will have a very good resale value, main target group in Thailand are Thais - and they often do prefer Honda.

Is the smart key system on the X-Max in any way superior to the Smart Key on the Forza?

I saw an ad that the Forza even locks the Top Box (if it is the Honda "Smart" Box) automatically via the Smart Key System.

If I would buy a scooter today, I would buy the Honda. I like it more.

Who cares if the resale value is 10.000 THB more or less in the next 2-3 years

Luckily the taste is like the bum and that fact make the world  a colorful and interesting place to be....

Interesting! I'm one of those who have been waiting to see if Honda would answer with an update to the Forza. On paper, the two bikes seem very comparable but I'm still leaning toward the Xmax as it seems to have the edge in terms of raw performance. Would you mind sharing what it is you like better about the Forza vs. the Xmax?

At least on paper I see the following pros for each:

    • Xmax
      • More power (292 cc, 27.6 hp, 29 Nm torque vs. 279 cc/24.8 hp/27.1 Nm)
      • Lighter (4kg, 179 kg vs. 183 kg, this despite the Xmax carrying more fuel)
      • Larger brakes (267 mm front, 245 mm rear vs. 256 mm/240 mm)
      • 13.1 L fuel (vs. 11.5 L)
      • A bit cheaper (168,000 vs. 169,000)
      • Illuminated underseat storage
      • 2 storage areas under the front console (vs. 1 on the Forza)
    • Forza
      • Narrower (754 mm vs 775 mm) for easier filtering
      • Shorter wheelbase (1510 mm vs 1540 mm) for a tighter turning radius
      • Lower seat (780mm vs 795 mm), though being tall, I'd prefer a higher seat.
      • Electronic windshield
      • Folding mirrors with LED turn signals
      • Fancier dash
      • A bit easier to service since Honda dealerships are so ubiquitous.
      • Potentially higher resale value

There are a couple other potential pros to each, but I haven't been able to find enough data online to be sure of them. Yes, I have researched this to death and then some.

My take so far is that the new Forza's definitely a big improvement over the old, but a lot of the changes seem to be in the bells and whistles. I mean, folding mirrors, electronic windshield, seriously? I'd rather that Honda used standard stuff and trimmed the price by a couple thousand baht. In contrast, the Xmax differs in ways that affect the actual performance of the bike. But again, this is all on paper and I have yet to ride either one. So I'd definitely be willing to hear from someone whose (strong) preference is for the Forza.

RE - Potentially higher resale value (Forza)

This remains to see, BUT I have my Clear doubts due to X-Max's higher performance, larger brakes, longer travel distance, larger Storage capacity and last but not least the smart key system which make it less attractive to steal it makes the X_Max for me a Clear winner both as New and as well 2-nd hand ..:post-4641-1156694572:

Does anyone living in Pattaya know of a scooter rental company who have an Xmax in stock cause I really want to live with one for a few days before I commit?

I have yet to see any rental Company offer one, but it may be a solution to ask the local Yamaha dealer as if there are they should know.

I wanted as well to do that prior to my purchase, but didnt find any and the Yamaha dealer didnt offer a test ride (maybe some do just in their backyard if they have one).

I did my homework, read tons of different reviews and based on those bought one in January - it has so far been my best buy ever...;)

If it was a woman that we were discussing, I might understand. But it hard to get that philosophical about the appearance of a motorcycle -- even a Forza! :wai:

Its all about shapes (and colors in a combination) be it women, motorbikes, cars, houses, furnitures, clothes, shoes or other - It's scientifically proven that this is the way humans are screwed together so better to accept this fact first as last, although it may seem difficult ...:coffee1:

As I recall, back in November 2017 there were report of a new electric (and hybrid) PCX and a new redesigned Forza, based on models displayed at the Tokyo Motor Show, and there was even talk that Honda might build/assemble the electric PCX in Thailand. Nothing in either category seems to have "landed" in Thailand nor is there any indication at this time that either ever will.  I don't care if Honda ever produces an electric/hybrid PCX or sells it in Thailand, but I am very interested in a new redesigned Forza. To say that I am not a fan of Yamaha would be an understatement, after watching my neighbor go through hours of torture trying to start his Nuovo after leaving it sit for a few weeks. And the looks of the XMax 300 just do not appeal to me in the least (the Forza, while a bit "bloated" is a far better looking bike IMO than the styleless (you may certainly disagree, but please don't bother to tell me; "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"). But, my present Forza is almost 4 years old and it really is time for an upgrade. I would really hate for its replacement to be a Yamaha, but if Honda doesn't come out with a new Forza in the next few months I may have no other choice (the XMax is certainly better than the present Forza). Ugh.....

RE -  "beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Yes, thats so true as the taste is like the bum.... What each of us perceives as beautiful reflects something very deep within us which is based on the core of our individuality.

With other words, we perceive beauty differently simply because we are different...:coffee1:

i get only 2 but then for this 2 screws are to short and they not send 2 longer screws?

I received as well 2 rubber grommets and got the same issue with the 2 screws on the top as they become too short With the additional grommets. Bought 2 longer screws in metal/silver color as they didnt have in black which match just fin. 10-12mm longer than the original ones and paid just 5 thb for both at a random shop which work just fine.

The windshield itself works and looks great. Seems to be both nicer and a little higher than the original one thats fits Perfect as it give some protection for the wind - excellent for city driving and very good value for the little Money spent (1050thb vs 3400thb)...

I had hesitations too but after 3000 km on the bike, 500 km with the box filtering in Bangkok every other day.. no issues... if the front mirrors pass, so will the back. Does not throw off the weight and balance. Only issue is parking .. it makes it longer... so you gottta watch the back.IMG_5043.JPG.130bc68fe5a68c6d096e622a7de29672.JPG

    Mounting instructions:

First: There are no holes where they should be, but it worked quite well.

    - Loosen the holders which are attached to the bike, so that you can slide them to the left or right to match the drilled holes in the shield. When you found the correct position tighten the holders again.

    - Now put in all 4 screws with the rubber grommets but don't tighten them yet.

    - Tighten one by one all around, slowly, until you can feel the screw coming out through the rubber.. That's max. It is perfect when the thicker part of the rubber stays behind the shield.

The windshield will sit very tight on these two other screws on the bike and gets scratched internally most likely.

But that is invisible, who cares.

Did you receive 4 rubber grommets?

Just got the Xmax, found this thread just now so didn't know theres smaller screen shield. I'm definitely buying it, how much does it cost?

Also what insurance is the best, can anyone recommend anything?

    The sport windshield cost 3.400thb

Also an good idea to order a spare smartkey as if lost or broken the delivery time is up to 2 weeks - it cost only 950thb so better to have it availbale at home.

When it comes to Insurance it exist to my knowledge only 2 for the Motorbike/Scooter:

    (1) Compulsory - the very basic which are obligatoric cost 1.200thb/year

    (2) 1st Class cost 7.928thb/year (AXA) and comes on the topp of the compulsory (total 9.128thb/year)

Having previously rented an Xmax at Pop rental here in Chiang Mai for three days and riding the piss out of it there were no surprises.  Since this new baby is mine I intend to treat it with kid gloves until after the 1000K. checkup.  I orderd an extra smart key, 950baht and worth every baht, I opted for the 39L top box and bracket, 13000+baht but it will be a two month wait.  I got comrehensive insurance that covers everything, 10500baht.  I am not going to change anything as it fits me to a tee.  No loud sounding exhaust for ego sake, the stock shocks do the job for me, the seat height is perfect as is the tall stock windscreen.  I am 189cm and this is by far and away the most comfortable scooter I have ever owned/ridden.  The Honda Forza 300 is not even in the same ballpark on any thing you might want to compare to the Xmax 300.  Thank you very much Yamaha.

Congratulation, I have just put the deposit Down for mine which will be available in the end of this month. Could you pls advice which Insurance Company?

Also the extra smart key was cheap as in Huahin they charge you 2.500thb - it seems to be much to save by shopping around...;)

if the xmax 400 really make it here, it will be the scooter to have.

Why would you go for a 400cc With the old Technology when you can get the 300cc  with the latest Technology?

The size doesnt matter in this setting, but Technology does especially when you get the best for less...;)

To buy a property in Thailand is Equal to put Your Money in the Stock market, i.e you should consider the Money as lost until you have sold.

When sold, Then and only then you actually know for sure if Your Investment has increased in value or not...;)

Thais do buy secondhand; the spirit thing is more the lower folk, those with their head screwed on couldn't give a monkeys. It's all about if it's a good moobahn or not. They also flip.

Working on 'own' house (one you're living in) shouldn't be an issue. Spent years sorting 'mine', doing everything - paint, building work, hard landscaping, electrics, plumbing, you name it - and everyone knew. As said, it's all about getting the attention of the wrong sort, or if a neighbour has a bee in their bonnet. But I would do this again, and flip, without a second thought. It's quite easy to beautify a house here and make it look better than others in the street even with a tiny bit of imagination because most other houses languish. Banks have the best deals... get friendly with them.

    RE ...and everyone knew.

    ...obviously NOT...;)
