Shameful, it really is. The overwhelming majority of us are trying our best to be good neighbours and get on with the locals and people like this destroy so much of the hard yards we put in. And the fella must be a complete idiot as well as a rotten thief, as pretty much everywhere has CCTV these days, so he was never going to get away with it.

Both shameful and sad - especially for the main character . The cause behind this act can be complicated and complex or simple and misunderstood, containing everything from Alzheimer's, dementia to kleptomania or minor psychological causes -  which can happen to the best of us regardless of nationality, religion and complexion .... :wai:

No idea who is this "Pattaya Watchdog" but looks like someone who clearly doesn't like Pattaya and tries to make its image far worse than reality !

Most the points he states are just BS !

RE - …. looks like someone who clearly doesn't like Pattaya and tries to make its image far worse then in reality !

    * That's a real challenge as the reality is far worse than most can imagine …

The authorities are going to love this guy. They do everything they can to stamp out smut and he is going to stick a huge GoGo right in the middle of 2nd road, where every family tourist is going to be walking by.

Yes, BUT on the other hand maybe this is is a start of a positive not yet known trend - moving the go-go and-no-no bars further away from the beach road would  transformed the walking-street and the rest of the beach road to a family friendly street with limited traffic and healthy daytime activities mainly linked to the beach - something that need to be done if you want Pattaya to be a family friendly resort - for real ...

A present thought and a dream that could be a reality somewhere in the future ...

The official reason is funds have been given by the central authorities for it

and it has to be spend before the end of the year. So the Bankgok authorities are to blame here.

However in an advanced country the construction work along beach road

(To dig a trench to bury a large storm drain PVC pipe) should take at worst some weeks.

I am still trying to understand why this relatively simple work takes more than 6 months

to do it here in thailand

On the other hand the wastewater treatment plant situated beetwen the end of beach road and the entry of walking street is still a work in progress since more than 10 years...

Yep, if the money are not spent during this year it will be given less next year - this is how the municipal and state budget processes works - not only in LOS ...

That's an average of 50,000 baht for each foreigner. Land of Lies?

I had a chat with a Thai doctor from Sapphasit/Ubon R, but he said something totally different.

The majority were from neighboring countries like Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar.

Yes, we often read about buss accidents filled with illegal workers from those countries and most likely without any insurance

Then we may assume the truth is something between ...

You have to say that the authorities have brought this upon themselves. In their desperation to save face and stop anything the slightest bit smutty from going on in town, they destroyed exactly what so many people visited for. People wanting a fun week or two away came here because that was what was on offer, and they didn't give a damn for temples and nature beauty spots, a point obviously missed by the folks that have killed the place.

I am sure the average bar or hotel owner would far prefer it to go back to how it was, rather than go broke in a "family friendly" but empty resort.

So maybe not that strange that the streets are empty before midnight as the tourists category who visit Pattaya mainly for the temples and beauty spots goes to bed early with the exception of a few who also wish to spot 2-legs beauties ...

I was at a government hospital in Mae Hong Son once - took all kinds of tests and saw two different doctors - and I paid only for the medication.

Been to privat hospitals a few times because of ear infection problems and the doctor once prescribed seven - 7 - different medications...???? (something a doc back home usually prescribe one - 1 medication only) and charged a hefty consultation fee as well. Private hospitals - no-njet-nein - I rather not.

In Thailand there are no need to consult a private Hospital as all their doctors continuously rotates between private and state hospitals. The only thing you are guaranteed by visiting a private hospital is a more comfortable environment that increase your bill at least 10 times ....

No matter what a Thai government hospital charged I would never use one.  I been to one with my wife  The doctor was an idiot.  I knew more than he did.

    * On the other hand it must have been a relief that you discovered during the visit that you as the husband actually knew more about Your wife than the doctor - think positive ...

Any owner replaced the belt already? It’s recommended at 20k km, I have 15k so far but it feels slipping already..........

It looks like you have the signs for a worn belt:

    Symptoms

Worn belts will sometimes slip. This is pretty easy to detect as the way the motorcycle accelerates won't be in sync with your throttle.

Another good indicator is a noticeable loss in power, or a lower top speed. Worn belts tend to sink deeper into the pulleys, effectively changing your gear ratios and reducing the power transmitted.

Sometimes however, it can suddenly snap with little warning. This can happen in particularly dusty or debris-filled environments. It can also happen if the belt replacement is overdue.

Finally, there are rare occurrences when rocks or other debris can penetrate the transmission housing and damage the belt.
