If the numbers are true at single digit or zero cases why is the emergency still needed unless the numbers arent correct .
Well, if we look Beyond Thailand's single digit and zero claims - during a pandemic the world is never more recovered than the sickest nation so yes emergency procedures are still needed - Thailand included …

The sign next to them clearly states 1 year imprisonment or fine not exceeding 100,000 baht or both , so if he paid 50.000 its only half of what he could of had to pay .
Yes - You have right and the sign doesn't say anything about a receipt either - so all good then ….

Apparently, Police called those foreigners to the station, and they had to apologize too. Go figure.
Maybe they’re seeing it as a loss of face, or Farang doing the right thing doesn’t serve their agenda.

why? the amnesty is for real emergencies. your situation only brings a little bit discomfort. you can apply for a new one year visa when you travel to Thailand again.
Well, it's actually about more than a little bit discomfort - it's all about that you have paid for a service you can't use and then it's normal to be compensated in one way or another which in this case could have been automatic renewal or extension ...
-
RE - Summary of the “visa amnesty” that Thai Immigration will offer foreigners. It’s just waiting for the PM’s signature:
Everyone who is in Thailand legally will have an automatic 30 day extension
90-day reporting will be put off
Permanent Residency people can come back late* That's fine, BUT what about all those holders of one year visas who now are outside Thailand and deprived of the opportunity to return prior to the expire date - do they also get a amnesty in the form of automatic renewal and/or extension?

Sold their house and car so i geuss it will take a little longer before they are running out of money . How on earth can they be homeless ????? O.k i can understand they are without a job , but so are millions of others , and it's by their own choise maybe should have done a little bit more resurch before giving up everything and moving here WITH THEIR TWO YOUNG CHILDREN .no pitty from me . Specially the homeless part , how can they be homeless they have enough money to rent some decent place for the 4 of them .
We may assume that their assets sold as car and house were not debt free - rather the opposite, which is quite common when one is a young toddler's family and it cost a bit more to travel and to live when you are 4 compared to 1 and for the same reason we can assume that they will not stay afloat very long if the jobless situation will persist something that it clearly and unfortunately points to ...
Hopefully they are wise enough to take the cost of being fully insured during their stay otherwise they will risk ending up as not only homeless, but also as debt servants ….

The reason they are in trouble is because of the global lockdown of economies the father can not do his job.
It's not their fault.
Yes, I agree, I would certainly make sure that the visa situation is sorted in a clear manner, so yes, here maybe they were a bit careless.
Of course the move was planned long before the pandemic. But actually during the pandemic, you'd be better off in Thailand, as the UK is going to go through peak infection time in around two weeks. Better to be in Thailand.
The reason they're in trouble is because the job disappeared. Not their fault.
