  1. There so many opinions one what to do about buying or renting/lease land. It's confusing not to mention who do you believe or trust. An old timer gave me some advise, he said never invest more into Thailand than you are willing to lose.

Sorry I do not have a clear cut answer for you but just remember what the old timer said.

  2. Any chance the Steelers ever had about becoming "America's Team" were lost last Monday night when they decided to skip playing the traditional National Anthem due to the weather delay.

I was born and raised in Pittsburgh and never heard of them being referred to as America's Team.

They are not looking there best right now but I think there is still some fight left in them.

  3. I think the football gods are smiling on Farve and the Pack this year. I think that will be enough of an edge for the Pack to pull out a win in Dallas.

I love watching Favre play. He still a kid a heart.

The cowboys better watch out because the greatest gun slinger of all time is coming to town.

Although I do not have a warm and fuzzy feeling about it , but I think the Pack prevails.

  4. WHOA! The Dolphins - Steelers game is in DELAY! Huge storm in the area, with heavy rains, dangerous lightning, winds, etc. Plan is for a 9:00 AM start. I hope TrueVisions/GOALTV stick with it!

All I can say is ug ug ug ugly. But a win is a win and I take it.

I can not think of anything good to say about the game.

  5. I wanted to try out some new frames so went into the opticians in Royal Garden Plaza. The assistant told me the price and I said I might come back later so she started giving me her "special price" and acting like a street vendor. Is this typical conduct of an optician in Pattaya? I want a professional service and fixed prices. Can I get that somewhere like Top Charoen or are you expected to negotiate a "special price" there too?

I bought a pair of rim less glasses out of the the Royal garden in 2004. I was not offered any special price, but they kid who worked there did give me a ride back to the Hotel to get my credit card. The price was about 1/4 the price of what I would have had to pay in the U.S. so I guess I was happy enough with that price.

I don't have any complaints with the glasse or what I paid for the and was planning on buying a new pair there in March. But after reading this thread I will check out Facino first. I would not hesitate to buy another pair from the Royal garden plaza though.

  6. Welcome Plaza :o

    Brit

Do you own the Welcome Plaza? I have notice that always seems to be one of your first choices for hotel recommendations.

While I can't argue that it's a good deal for the money, but it is a bit rundown. I do like the pool there and the ABF was good.

My last time there was in 2004.

  7. BROWNS @ STEELERS at 1:00 AM

Hey, PKG, did you see the schedule change? The TrueV mag lists the Bengals @ Ravens game as the first game tonight. That game has been switched by the networks to a 4:05 start. So the TrueV website now lists the Browns @ Steelers game for broadcast at 1:00 AM.

This is a real "are you for real" test for Romeo Crennel's Browns. They've surprised nearly everybody this season with their 5-3 record. However, when we look at that more carefully, it may well be a mirage. They were destroyed by the Steelers, 7-34, in the opening game in Cleveland. Their other 2 losses were at the hands of the Raiders, in Oakland, 24-26; and the Patriots, in NE, 17-34. Their 5 wins were against the Bengals, Ravens, Dolphins, Rams, and Seahawks. That's an interesting mix of the hapless (Dolphins and Rams), the hopeless (Bengals), and the disappointing (Ravens and Seahawks).

But they have certainly looked much better, offensively, since Derek Anderson replace Charlie Frye at QB. This could be interesting.

I'm planning another overnighter to watch this one; followed by the Cowboys at the Giants on TrueVisions; then the Colts at the Chargers on the internet. Could be 3 very good games, with the obvious favorites being the Steelers, Cowboys, and Colts; but all 3 underdogs having the potential to make a fight of it. Personally, I'll be rooting for the underdogs in all of these games. Wins by the Browns and Chargers would greatly improve the Patriots situation for HFA. And I hate the Jerry Jones Cowboys.

I didn't get the game but got to see the score on the ticker tape at the bottom of the screen to the Packers game. That's what sucks about not living in the burgh, I don't get to see all the games. My father said it was a real nail biter. The brownies looked like they were going to spank the steelers at first, but Big Ben pulled it out for them. As you said " It could be interesting" and it was.

Favre and the Pack beat the crap out of the vikings. (34 - 0) The pack's D took adrian Peterson out of the game. The pack even had a balanced running game. The first team to rush for over 100 yards against the vikings D this year.

I am currently watching the Chargers spank Indy. But some how I get the feeling that the colts will sqeek this one out.

I think this cheating thing got blown way out of proportion by the media. You are having the priveledge of watching one of the greatest teams in the history of the NFL. The bottom line is the players still have to take the field and play the game.

I don't think that the Pats are going to miss you support. I am a STEELERS fan , but I have enough common sense to recognize greatness when I see it. It's fine to have a favorite team but if you love the game you have to appreciate the way the Pats are playing right now.

    PKG,

Glad u liked the punctuation! Interesting thing is that the one NFL team that is willing to speak openly about the Patriots cheating is the Steelers. That includes both players and coaches. Part of that "greatness" you speak of has come at the expense of the Steelers.

Comments from Hines Ward, Pittsburgh wide receiver:

In Pittsburgh, wide receiver Hines Ward said he suspected New England also had deciphered the Steelers' offensive plans during the January 2002 AFC championship game.

"They knew a lot of our calls," Ward said. "There's no question some of their players were calling out some of our stuff."

The Patriots won that game in an upset, 24-17, and went on to win the first in their string of Super Bowls.

"You would hope that during their run, when they were winning all their Super Bowls, all that stuff wasn't going on," Ward said. "You look back in the past, and we played them in the championship games, and you kind of wonder. It seemed like they were a step ahead of us at all times..."

    http://www.latimes.com/sports/football/nfl...=la-home-center

Steelers assistant coaches say privately that New England coach Bill Belichick has illegally used cameras to spy on opposing coaches flashing signals from the sideline for years, even when he was coach of the Cleveland Browns...New Steelers coach Mike Tomlin did not outright accuse New England of cheating, but said that the rumors have been around and "where there is smoke, there's fire."

Comments regarding Pittsburgh coaches re: NE Cheating (Pittsburgh Post Gazette)

    http://robertbluey.com/blog/2007/09/12/onl...efend-cheating/

PKG, These are comments directly from Steeler's players and coaches. This is not the team a die hard Steelers fan should defend. :D

I am not saying that the Pats did not do what they are accused of, I was saying that the players still have to go out and play the game no matter what the coaches did. Just because I am a steeler fan does not mean I can not appreciate greatness from an rival team when I see it. No matter what information a coach gives the players, they still have to go out and play the game.

excellent job on the finding the quotes. I did not know that is what Ward and the other Steelers were saying. I live about a 1/2 hour south of Greenbay and the frozen tundra of Lambeau field, so I do not get all the local scoop from the steel town papers. Quotes aside I still think the Pats could be one of the greatest team to play the game.

Part of me is hopeing that the Pats will go in the tank the rest of the year so that the STEELERS of the 70's can remain the greatest team ever. Right now the Pats are making a case for themselves to take over that Title.

How did they get your photo?

Sounds like a scam to me. I would contact some lawyers to check and see if you are a person of non grata in LOS.

I would skip the january trip until you find out the facts behind this.

It almost sounds like somebody who you know(or knows you) is looking to make a little extra cash off of you.

  12. Breathe easy George.

The Pats are still undefeated. They had me worried with all the penalties they had against them. The colts played a good game. I have a little more respect for there defense after watching that game. I expected the Pats to win, but I thought it would have been easier for them than what it was.

The Pats armor has been cracked! they finally trailed in the 2nd half :o

Belicheck and Dungy barely made eye contactafter the game, I guess there is no love lost there.

Tomorrow night should be another slug fest when the Steelers play the Ravens. Thers no love lost between those 2 teams either.

  13. Kuhn Kadkapow -- 'Plant' is a very vague term -- however many may not know is that the location you describe is one of the few onshore gas reserves in Thialand -- this from The Nation (16 FEB 2007):

The plant that they will be building is a (PCC} Precipatated Calcuim Carbonate Satellite plant. It's is designed to be built on site of a paper mill to eliminate the need for transporting the PCC. It is shipped via pipeline straight to the paper machine.

PCC is used as a filler for paper mills all across the world. It is a small operation usually with 5 or 6 operator and 1 maint man. The operator must be kinda of a "Jack of all trades" as he will have to do just about all the duties required to operate and maintain the plant. Production, testing, preventative maint, purchasing, u-factor reports, weekly reports to corporate, data entry into oracle , customer relations and many more responsibilities.

It is relatively small potatoes compare to the plants you described. It is pretty small and harmless, but one good thing is it saves on the use of trees in the paper making process.

I just hope I can get the chance to start that plant up.

  14. I was only on Samet once but one of the tthings that stuck my mind was the ferry service. The ride was fine but getting off of the boat you need to be careful especially with little kids. Our boat was docked 3 boats out which mean't we had to climb through 2 other boats to reach the dock. It wasn't an easy challenge with out kids, I sure it would be more difficult with them.

    be careful.

The great gun slinger does it again. 1st play in OT , Farve to Jennings. Pack wins.

    I love watching Farve.

I can't imagine how anyone could call himself an NFL fan and NOT love to watch Brett Favre! That was yet another incredible finish for one of the best players in the history of the game!

    I agree George

Back in Nov 2005 I had field passes at the legendary Lambeau Field to watch the Steelers play the Pack. I snapped this shot of Favre. I was close enough to tackle him.

  16. Does anyone live near Nam Phong?

The company I work for is building a new plant there. Next to the Phoenix Pulp & Paper Co. I have a slim chance of getting over there to start the plant up. I spent 6 months in Tha Toom(Prachin Buri ) starting that plant up, but now that the Thai Operators know what they are doing the company will be sending them to start the new plant up. It will save them alot of money in labor and airfare.

I was kind of curious as to what it is like around Nam Phong. Prachin Buri is the farthest north that I have been in Thailand.

  17. The Steelers are still my favorite team, but I think we are all having the privaledge of watching one of the all time if not the greatest team of all time. He11 even the back up qb is running in td's. These guys are unbelievable. The pick up of Wes walker , Stallworth and Randy Moss has put this team over the top.

enough tootin the Pats horn. STEELERS ROCK!

Your right George, anybody that misses the Pats VS Colts game should be a soccer fan!

  18. I took some video with my camera and want to email it. It size is 76.0 mb and the bit rate is 88kbps.

When i try to email it it takes too long and times out. I tried to send it as a zipped file and still have the same problem. But that does not mean that I zipped the file correctly as it was my first time doing it.

Does anyone know how I can do this?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks
