 I'm looking at building a new computer but I'm not in a hurry as the old beast is working fine now that it has a new power supply.  This, is what I am looking at:

I am going to use  the Ryzen 5 3400G as the embedded graphics are better han the Ryzen3, Vega 11 vs Vega 8,  and not add a GPU unless this configuration doesn't do what I want.  Everything that I have read says that it will.  The one thing that concerns me is the X570 MB, all that I have looked at , at most, only have an HDMI and Display output port.  I would use the HDMI to the TV but do not have a display port on my new Acer monitor. , VGA, DVI and HDMI only.  There are converters available to covert the display output to any of the three inputs that I have.  Some are active, some are passive and the prices are all over the place.  Do these adapters work?  Will the computer correctly boot if I use one on my monitor?

My other option would be to use the B450 MB which has VGA, DVI and HDMI outputs and is 3240 baht cheaper with "reduced performance", but I don't no what that means.

I'm only going to use it as a home computer and <at most, only stream video fron the net.  I don't intend to play games. 

Does anybody have any experience using any of these adapters and , if so, which is the best, what is the brand and where is it available?

Personally I think this is leading to congress having no choice but to impeach but Max Boot author of the linked article obviously thinks the democrats will continue with their pussy footing.

 

But really time is running out. If they wait another six months it really will be too late in view of the 2020 election.

I agree, Max Boot is spot on.  The problem is that the lesson that Trump should have learned from the investigation and the realization that he would be sitting in jail beside Cohen for much longer than three years if he was not the President and he shouldn't try it again, is not what he learned.  He learned that he did it and got away with it because the  collected officials in congress don't have the ethics (balls) to do their job.  And since he got away with it once he knows that he can do it again and is doing exactly that.  He thinks, as many do, that he is "untouchable!  And  I'm not sure that he is far from wrong!

In the end if he loses the election he won't leave without a fight especially if it is close!

I wouldn't be too sure of that, He's already filed a suit to try to stop NY from getting his federal returns.  What I don't understand is the NY already has his State returns and Cuomo will cooperate with the NY DA.  They should contain most of the information that is needed.

Looks good!  GPS coordinates?  When I googled THE Pizza House in mid of nowhere Isaan...:)   I got one in Norway, One in Germany, One in Bangkok and one in Sukothai.

Forgrins, you might try the JIB website (jib.co.th).  They have an app on their menu called "spec computer".  The first thing that you choose is the CPU and then the next is MB.  It only shows the MB's that are compatible with the CPU and then it goes from there: VGA, memory, HDD, SSD and so on.  I,nm not sure if they will assemble for you but they have many stores and one might.

Do the display port to VGA adapters work.  The prices are all over the place, some are passive and some active but they look the same.  I can also use either a disolay to HDMI or display to DVI.  Which, if any, is best?

The resason that I am asking is that I am still locking at a new computer build.  I've kinda settled on either a Ryzen3 3200G with a B450PRO 4 MB which has AVG, HDMI, and DVI output ports, or at Ryzen5 3400G with an X570 PRO 4 MB which only has an HDMI and display output ports.  I would need to use the adapter to connect my monitor since it does not have a Display input port.  I cannot find a MB with the X570 chipset that has an HDMI port and either a DVI or VGA port, only a display port.

The other option,with reduced performance, but much cheaper (3240 baht cheaper), is to use the B450 PrO 4 MB with the Ryzen5 3400G

I want to  just use the MB graphic outputs to see if they do what I want before I decide whether to purchase a GPU since I will only be watching streamed video and not playing games.

The Ryzen5 3400G has better embedded graphics, Radeon Vega 11 rather than Radeon Vega 8.

My current system is working okay with only an occasional Firefox crash since I replaced the power supply and disconnected the GPU HDMI output.  Boot time is repeatable and under 30 seconds.  That'll teach me to buy used equipment as I know that you are just buying someone else's problem!

Brasso and auto polishing compound available in the small Tesco near me.  Polishing compound in the auto section with the car waxes and brasso in the household cleanser department.

automotive polishing compound will work well on the stainless it also works well on polished granite.  I stain a granite counter top with toilet cleaner that had HCL in it and was able to polish out the stain with the compound.

Trump is doing exactly what he wanted to do, he is controlling the news cycle!  We're here talking about this "whistle blower"  rather than things that are important.  In the end he'll claim that he can say anything to anybody that he wants to and he has the power to "declassify" anything that he wants to.

Yeah, it would be nice to know but doubt that it is anything that is out of the norm for Trump!

Pompeo is spinning it that it was cruise missles fired from Iranian controlled territory in southern Iraq.  He says that they have proof and is working on getting it declassified so that they can go public with the information.  Rumours have it the Pompeo has borrowed two of Trump's Sharpe Pens!

I've been using reusable bags for years and I like them since I can pack like goods in one bag as I shop, No hot food on top of the butter, etc.  You can't do that in Makro since they won't let you take the bags in.

I went to Tesco last week, the first time since they no longer bag the groceries.  One problem is  that there are no bags for sale inside and no bags for sale at checkout.  Makro at least has heavy plastic bags for sale at checkout that are supposed to be reusable but they are not good. If you fill them the handles rip off.

If they are not going to offer paper or plastic they should have  reasonably priced reusable bags for sale at checkout  I saw one couple in the parking lot loading their groceries into the back of their pickup, trolley and all.  Look for the guards to reappear at the parking lot entrances.  The one's at Makro are still there.

Updated CPU and changed motherboard.

The reason that what I proposed is downgraded from what you recommended is mainly price.  The Ryzen5 3400 CPU and the motherboard with the X570 chipset increases the price 7.320 baht. The Ryzen starter gaming build recommendation says to use the Ryzen3 3200 CPU and a motherboard with a B450 chipset but cautions that in/on some boards that the CPU might not work unless the BIOS is changed, not my thing.  It recommends either downgrading to the 2200 CPU with reduced performance (600 baht less) or upgrading to a motherboard with an X570 chipset (3360 baht more)  I chose the  cheaper, but the specs on the Asrock board with the B450 chipset says it will perform with the 3000 series CPUs so I would most likely go with that if I do anything!

What about something like this?  Price is still a little higher than I want but it's a start.  I gave up trying to find a case to fit the motherboard so I just picked one for grins.

The main requirement I would look for in a new Motherboard, would be the ability to accept and boot from PCIe SSD(NVMe SSD).

I've been fighting with this <deleted> for well over a year now.  It had windows XP reloaded a number of times, a new motherboard,  an SSD added, Windows 7 loaded once and reloaded again, a new case a new power supply and even a fan added. I forgot the DVD drive that also failed. And , of course, the graphics card which I am beginning to think is the cause of my latest problems.  When I turn it on I never know if it is going to work.  It work all day yesterday with no problems and when I turned it on this morning it booted but there was a problem with windows with a "beeping" random signal like an illegal input would cause and the picture was reduced in size.  I turned it off, unplugged the HDMI cable anf it booted fine anf now is working.

If I am going to do it I'm going to start from scratch and build a new one, or have the tech build it for me.  I built one on the JIB "spec computer" site  and in the end it would cost 71,000 baht, a little much.  The site is actually nice, you first pick the CPU that you want and next it gives you a selection of motherboards that are compatible and you go from there.

When this one was built around 2006, intel pentium 4 was the Cadillac of CPU's and about all that was available.  Now there's pages and pages of CPUs that do just about everything and I really don't have a clue where to start.
