  1. Wherever the MC gangs are, bloodshed follows. In Canada, the Hells Angels had a bloody war with the Rock Machine, an affiliate of the Bandidos. In one province alone, 156 people died including bystanders caught in crossfire. Bodies were piling up throughout the USA and Canada for a few years as the war spread. It only came to an end after draconian measures were introduced.

I am always amazed that Thailand does not enforce its immigration laws when it comes to these MC gangs. Technically, convicted criminals are not supposed to be admitted.

Note: When I refer to MC gangs, I mean just that, not MC Clubs. There is a big difference.

Exactly! There are several "clubs" that do great things for the Thai orphans, for example. Don't paint everyone with the same brush.

  2. You might save your KFC lust for those wonderful Surin piss-ups.rolleyes.gif

    KFC. That's disgusting.

Tell that to the millions of Thais who queue up everyday to enjoy their pseudo-Western food.

Gotta agree Cardholder and zzaa09, every time I pass by KFC (literally pass by, I don't eat/like their pseudo western food), the place is full of Thais happily eating, and a few farang as well. Nothing there for me.

  3. Thanks for all the info. That is sure a fancy wall for a potato patch. I guess 1200 a meter is the average cost of a 2 meter high wall (not including labor costs or the whiskey).

It won't be a potato patch forever.

  4. We built a wall around my lovely wife's aunts house so we could grow some potatoes and give the aunt something to do as well. The wall sections are 2 1/2 meters each, the posts were pre-made. I think it's about 120 meters around with three sides being 2 meters tall and the front shorter with the added wrought iron fence and gates.

The costs for the walls, both sides finished except the back wall (up to neighbors!), all painted both sides in two colors (not the back...did I mention the neighbors?), was 118,000 baht. The fence in front and the one gate total was 48,000 baht complete and painted. We will eventually do another gate and perhaps build again on that land.

    Hope the attached pictures work.

    PS;

Can't figure out how to attach pictures, sorry. This website has changed since the last time I posted pictures]

  5. If I may,

    YouTube my videos at :

    mario299100

we built near Prasat in 2008, then continued more in 2009. We have less than 2 million baht into it, including all furniture, appliances, etc., and yes, the land was hers so no cost for it. We engaged a builder for labor costs, we paid for all materials based on a plan and his material orders.

I was fortunate to be there on-site for pretty much everything, which I highly recommend, and am happy to give advice should you like.

Search the forum, lots of very good advice here.

  6. Here's a warning...if you have a canopy they will consider you doing commercial and charge you more licensing/tax/registration/fees/tea money/and perhaps "hansum man fee".

Be careful what you want, canopies are nice but can open up a can-o-worms...

  7. First question I have to ask is what's the power in the UK, because everything in Thailand is 220V and 50 cycle so if you're using 110V and 60 cycle like the US you'll need to buy in Thailand or get expensive transformer to run things with motors.

Brand names are comparable both price-wise and quality-wise, and you will probably be taxed by Customs for bringing your things in. Things like laptops will work on either 220 or 110.

Lots of info on this forum if you search various places. Look around.

    Hope this helps

  8. People are the same world wide. I don't think being promiscuous is any different in Issan than anywhere else.

Thank you, Gary. About the most sensible post in this thread. It started as a flame against a particular individual, was re-emphasised by OP as a flame, and so it went on. I should have reported it long since.

Wow, been away for awhile. Op what the heck is this all about? You're accusing and not naming, throwing out aspersions? Was it something that affected you? Man Up, dammit, take care of business! Not something that affected you? Leave it alone.

Robblock, I understand what you say, if you're not taking care of business at home, then your business could be someone else's business. But the bottom is this...she's your wife, you've commited and made promises and obligations...both of you have...take care of your business. Cannot? Do Not? You lose!

Zzaa, are you just stirring up trouble? Like I say, I've been away, what is this all about? Do I even want to know, or are these just gossips that you can find in all the villages?

    Very truly

  9. 1) She will see and REMEMBER EVERYTHING

All this being said.... Thai women are wonderful creatures that will make you life a joy. My wife is the most wonderful woman I have EVER known. I am a very lucky man. Good luck to you ... take is slow....pay attention and dont let you heart over run your head.

    Kodan

All well said, and I agree...my experience has been very similar.

Best of luck to the OP, learn and listen, go slow...clap2.gif

  10. Seems to be a contradiction of priorities.....even when we are in Surin.jerk.gif

I don't understand the contradiction...all I'm saying is that the our locals favor truck over house beautiful, and I was simply agreeing with what Jim said. Not anything difficult,,,huh?

  11. Hi ExpatO.W.

Unfortunately I had to return to the States for awhile, so can't take you up on your kind offer. Appreciate it, but not there to meet with you.

Good luck, though, and thanks again.

    Joe,

No rush, when will you be back in Thailand again?

Not sureangry.png Doing some work, could be long-termsad.png Probably best for you to find someone else. Nice of you, but don't want to hang you up.

  12. What about Kruger Rands and the coin produced by the West. Australian Mint which they claim to be the purest gold in the World? I wonder how these would go down in Thailand.

the advantage of Krüger Rands is that they can't be porned

    Naam

Please educate me on Kruger Rands...aren't they only 91% gold, mixed with copper? The China Panda and the American Gold Eagles are one troy ounce like the Kruggerand, but since the gold content is 99% I believe, makes them more valuable per ounce. Yes?

    Thanks.

  13. avatar noun - definition, a character or creature that you create to represent yourself.

    Fitting.

Aah, but I have a disclaimer in that Mario299 asked me to change it.  Unfortunately Mario299 is shown to be a pig. Nice one cardholder. Thanks for the definition.

And I'll believe that one "when pigs fly!"

    Merry Christmas

  14. I like the new avater by the way :)

You have to thank Mario299 for my avatar. It was he that came to mind when choosing it. He asked me to put a woman back on. A woman was hard to find, so the little girl should suffice. It speaks volumes.

    Fitting.

    Thanks, Carholder, well done.
