  1. Dont be an a$$hole. Its illegal huh? Thanks for your brilliant comment….
  2. Have a look across social media. They are freezing funds and closing accounts all over now. It’s becoming very common.
  3. No fear in filing complaints because I am not the one breaking the law. They are! I registered the account using a real, verified US home address in which I am able to receive mail at and provided a valid US drivers license for that address and US bank statements with that exact address. Apparently that was not good enough for them.
  4. Yes, I dealt with them a few times and they pulled something similar. Halted a transfer until I provided bank statements. Once the transfer was released, that was the last time I ever used them. Heard they are out of business now. Same will happen to Wise. Screw your customer, see what happens..
  5. Definitely not large or suspicious amounts. A few grand a month to cover expenses. I kept a larger amount in USD to take advantage of weaker THB rates when the opportunity came up. That was a mistake. Lesson learned.
  6. I was looking into Revolut but upon some investigation, it seems like they have similar issues. I will likely go back to ATM withdrawals and sending wire transfers from my bank before I started using Wise.
  7. No crypto related transactions whatsoever. No out of the ordinary transfers. The usual for the last 3 years. A US bank transfer into Wise, converted to THB and transferee to Thai Wife’s bank account in Thailand. A few visa debit card transactions here and there but again, nothing out of the ordinary.
  8. Guys, something very serious developing for those who use Wise. After being a customer for over 3 years, Wise halted an incoming bank transfer and proceeded to freeze all of the remaining funds in my account. Over 5 figures of assets. They demanded documents to show proof of income or savings. When I submitted the docs, all my funds remained frozen. After 2 days, they requested even more documents. I sent more and then they abruptly closed the account. While I have filled in the details to request the return of the account assets, I have not received anything back after one week already. I have proceeded to file formal complaints with all the applicable US and UK financial regulators. I even received a personal reply from one of the regulators asking me if I would help cooperate in providing more details on exactly what happened. So for all expats who have been using Wise, I am warning you, something has changed with them and it is quite serious. I would not be keeping any serious amounts of money on their platform as they can easily freeze your funds and god knows how long before you get it back if ever!
  9. As a retired professional, I have in tandem spent the past 20 years trading and investing in the US stock market. As my interest in this has increased dramatically over the past several years, I figured that I would open up a new thread and welcome other members insights and outlook. Current MarketView as of 22 February 2024: After a blistering rally off of the October 2023 lows, stocks in general appear to be quite over extended and unusually overvalued based on next years EPS. Usually when the $SPX has rallied over 20% from its last swing lows, a correction in the 10% range shortly ensues. In addition, the level of market cap concentration of the Mag7 stocks compared to the rest of the market is at .com 2000 levels which is very concerning. With massive eyes on NVDA these last several weeks, in anticipation of a blowout earnings report, the news will likely trigger a climax here shortly. (Buy the rumor, sell the news event.) “Topping is a process while bottoming is an event.” I am 100% in cash presently and looking to open up strategic short positions on strength in anticipation of a move down to 4400-4500 in the $SPX by late-May / early-June timeframe.
  10. Yep, its very scammy of them to allow you to send them money first only to be sent an email asking for a bunch of proof about that money. If they had cared at all about customers, their system would halt you from sending anything first and asking you to fill in a transfer approval form of sorts and wait for confirmation that the transfer request has been approved. This is why I will never use them anymore. The trust is simply not there.
  11. Deformed growth like that from my experience is from heat/light stress. Common with young plants as an environmental issue.
  12. Had the same thing happen to me and the transfer was delayed several days as a result. That was the last time I used them. Have been using K-bank app for my international transfers since then with no issues whatsoever and the fees are only slightly higher but with way less hassle. DM used to be pretty reliable and without hassles but my last experience was totally unacceptable and I simply don’t use them anymore.
  13. If anything, the Fed will be forced to jack rates higher in light of yesterday’s CPI report. Bonds and gold took it on the chin.
  14. I did exactly this at BKK upon departure with no hassles whatsoever. Yes they will escort you to the desk but it only took 5 minutes. Much better then hassling with a separate trip to get stamps transferred.
