  1. Tricky call...The demure teacher or student could be a mia noi.... and that would certainly put some excitement in your llife, especially if the patron is a brown suiter or MP... Sorry to say..even with advanced degree.. the Thai woman does not seem to understand what part of the truth to tell.. like a compound complex sentence they just never seem to get right.

    Judgement: If you plan to dip your ink in the company well be advised of the X factors you will certainly face..

    Keep away.. your still considered as an out from this country.. You can get your thrill different way.. See you down the trail. :o

  2. This is a basic reward and point system plan....The Thai students love games.. during at the half way point in the semester.. Let the kids start talking to you..

    All students are required to talk with the teacher during office hours.. off campus.....ngahh...

    Questions are topics that have been covered during the first part the semester.

    A = 1000 points

    B = 800 ....

    Everytime they come a talk to you give them points... 5 - 100.

    Also pairs work..well.

    For the repeaters.. make it fun.. The bag of chance..

    The kids have learned the request forms.. May I, Can I, Could I.... and for their friends.. Can he,,, Can She.. and end with PLEASE..

    After a while... 5 points.. in not enough.....so they are ready for the big time.

    May I have 500 points, please.... NEXT, Whip out the bag of chance... Show a 500 point ticket.. and a MINUS 500 point ticket.. OOOOOOOOO Let them choose..

    The little game will give plenty of natural opportunites to speak English for the kids.

    I usually have a grid of questions ready... A set of 5..

    What did you eat yesterday, at 6 pm tonight where will you go..

    Break them of the nasty habit of the present simple for everything..

    Actually, it is a varation of other projects.. but adaptation is key... Then sit back and watch the line form by your office door.. REALLY..

  3. There are just those days.. that the creative juice don't flow.. and all the good intentions, however well meaning..just don't make it.. and a breeze from the past is smiled upon...the sight of students lined up to receive their daily dose of discipline.

    Let's plug in the culture and natural naughtyness / playfulness of some Thai students...50 disruptive kids.. is a challenge enough...

    Fold, and try again. :o

  4. :o Taught in China..... and sorry to say.. it is out of control..Some of the autocratic management styles are typical of the SAR management...

    Chinese children..due to the one child policy.. are... spoiled....and their attitude toward the western style teacher shows..

    Expert permit, resident card..travel arrangement.. are handled much better in China compared to Thailand.

    Writing seems to be a strong point with Chinese students, unlike Thai students.

    Large classroom are the norm...and the Chinese version of Dear Ajaan are full of stories..

    That's the short and curly of it all.. :D

    I came to Thailand with a G.O.. and had the wonderful oportunity to live in up country, learn the culture, language, work at the same pay rate, and adapt in the Thai style.. At times, I enjoyed the toughest job I ever loved. That has been the incentive of working in Thailand...but .. it is time to move on... :D

  5. Really, how does this apply up-country where a "R.Ph." is needed in the village Health Station.. really, now.. you mean the medical staff can advise the villagers on the proper compliance of the med, or let alone give accurate drug information.. And heaven forbid.. the village health volunteer, with their standard set of antibotic for any ailment...just eager to give the meds out at the drop of a hat.

    GPO of the MOPH... where did all the money go... Vested interest.. MP and Drug rep.. and Thai Drup compaines... are responding to the current elections hype.. but it will remain the same...

    Professionalism of the medical staff.... in any contact with dispensing medication needs to be improved.... Start there.... of course that is a higher pay grade decsion, which has been paid in part by your local pharmaceutical company...

    Funny this so called action.. is BANG COCK based.... :o

  6. It is a tough call.. the challenges await her.. The transition for you has been easy in T-land.. taking her back home.. means, she is totally dependent on you.. and that can add up.. at first, it is cute.. but then..

    She is away from her Family..a big one... language.. another big one.. These two factors seem to aways play into the sucess factor.

    Well ... I guess you can't just walk away.. and say goodbye.. but..Think about all the options...Do you really want to deal with all the hassles...

    Living here ..and being married to a Thai has all its restrictions and requirements.. do you want to put up with all the monkey business.

    In the end you're going to follow your heart...and you need to make the best choice for yourself, not the correct one.. A tough call.

    You're not going to like it..but you need to move on..here... Your stablity seems intact..but you need more..marbles when you play in this area...This is not even mentioning the games and obligations you will face with her family..

    Mate.. Pros...Cons.. weight them.. Good luck.. I trust you will make the best decision
