The airline was only removed from the EU unsafe airline blacklist because the "Thai avaition authority" deemed it safe.. Oh well it must be safe if they say so hahahaha. TOTALLY UNSAFE

Just a question with regard to EVA air flights from BKK to LHR. They are all due to arrive at 19.15, anyone who's flown this route tell me if they are good with arrival times and how long it took to get out of T3 in LHR?

Normally 15-20 minutes early in my experience, anything from 40 mins to an hour to get out of T3.

The BK post reported that the school would not dismiss the teacher because they had no one to fill his classes before the upcoming exams.

They also said the boy concerned was not 'angry' at the teacher and that he 'had deserved it'. Draw your own conclusions about why he might say that.

The 'best' part of it was the teacher's reaction on being questioned; he said 'yes it was wrong, but kids get hurt a lot worse in playground fights'. That was the bit that astounded me the most. I think its fairly safe to assume that he would have got away with this action and attitude, but the publicity around the story should ensure he gets binned. (I note another poster says he's voluntarily resigned...any confirmations?).

As a 'farang' teacher in a state institution I do witness unruly behaviour, but if you can't handle kids being kids you shouldn't be in the job. To any who may sympathise with the teacher, just ask yourself whether you would want your own kids to study in his class (apparently all the kid did was not bring his books to class, then give a smart-ass reply when told off about it. This happens almost daily to me; my answer is - "OK, good luck in the exams".).

I can tell you that when physical punishment was removed in the UK many boys eyes lit up. I saw the most arrogant and quite frankly criminally inclined boys (As it turned out they became) would square up to teachers face to face with the "what you gonna do about it" attitude. the fact is the fear of a good thrashing dissappeared. Boys will often push the boundaries in school as far as they can and when you move that boundary back you are in retreat. I talk from experience and there are some boys in Thai schools who I have dragged down to the discipline room to get what they deserve.

Sounds pretty bad . However I can think of some boys I have had in my class who have driven me to wanting to thump them but prevented because of the rules, and before all the anti physical punishment brigade start spouting, I have witnessed serious bad behaviour in a falang teachers class only to stop when a Thai teacher comes in the room. Fact is they know they can get away with a falang (not being able to use the stick).

I'm ready to hear from other falang teachers with experience in government schools in Thailand, those who know nothing about teaching in government high schools in Thailand can keep their woolly liberal opinions to themselves.

I think it is not a problem with Pantip. It is a problem with humans. You can get the fake in USA, in Europe, in Singapore or wherever. When I sometimes need one of the expensive Sony batteries for my video camera I always think if the up to 5000 Baht battery might be a fake or not. Almost impossible to check and not even the Sony batteries are without problems . Sometimes I think better to buy a cheap one where I know that it is fake then I am on the safe side - they are a fraction of the Sony price.

What I often do is to buy such items at the bigger shops like IT City in the hope the employees have no need to cheat me since they will not get the money. But on the other hand a friend of mine bought a new notebook in such a shop - and we insisted that it is packed originally. They ordered it and when we went there to pick it up the box was open - "we had the check that all parts are inside". I set the system up for my friend and saw at the S.M.A.R.T. data of the HD how long it has been used before and how many times it was switched on. It was switched on/off almost 200 times and the HD was working for several weeks already. So they sold us a notebook that has been on display for a while I am afraid.

But you can make the same experience in the States when they send you a re-stocked item as new. Earning money is not easy. Spending it afterwards for quality is not easy too :-)

Just to remind users of all the fake faulty rubbish on sale in Pantip Plaza IT city centre in BKK. I bought a Kingston 4Gb SD card the weekend , guess what it never worked, It would not open when connnected to notebook or inside my Digital camera, I returned to the seller and the guy was not interested in refund or replace. . Its incredible this place continues to be able to operate , A hive of crooks and cheats , just remember its not just the software and DVD hawked there that's fake

No, I do not work for Air Asia, but I am a very happy customer flying with them over the years! Great low cost airline and I highly recommend them! No flights to Oz, India, or other parts of Malaysia/China. Please read it will make things easier on you.

^pretty much doubtful because I mitigate any chances of such happening. Arriving early and booking the correct flight - AA staff have always been rather lovely making the flying experience rather enjoyable.

Well well you are a lucky guy, i have used A.A. 3 times in last 5 weeks Chiang Rai to BKK, 3 times late, once ticket price given went up from ticket office in Big C supermarket 1480 baht to A.A. airport desk 20 mins later 4480 baht. when i queried the increase the staff, especially the little male git behind the counter, were rude and unhelpful telling me to complain to BKK or get another airline, (they suggested one-2-go), either way they didnt care

Had my phone stolen with a Truemove sim card in it, (Bad start having Truemove sim I know) I have tried to contact them to inform but Customer service is a joke , they say they busy leave contact number and they get back within 24 hours.. hahaha, no need to tell you what happened there. Anyway can I get the phone locked now, I have the IMEI number? Apparently I hear its only some service providers can do this in Thailand, I am guessing that with True's record they won't be one of those.

Toddled along to Molly Malones, Bangkok today(Sept 13) and I was about to have my Sunday Lunch and I saw the sign outside "Sunday lunch 399Bht +vat" about a 15% increase, so its now about 430 Bht.. shame they put prices up. I went there 6 weeks on the trot even though the plates were cold and some of the vegetables.

So I went and had another meal in a restaurant nearby.

PS They should update their website. Its still advertising at 349Bht

No Tourist Visas being issued by Chinese Embassies currently because of National Day October 1st

You have an extension of stay and if you remain in country 90 days or more you must report to immigration. You use a TM.47 form (pinned useful information at top of forum has links for download). The clock started on the day you applied for your first extension of stay. Further extensions of stay will not reset it but it stops when you leave the country and starts at one the day you return. Depending where you are the report can be done in person, by someone you send or by mail.

Ok , But why was I not told this when I got my new visa? There was nothing said to me or a date in passport whicxh says "leave by" or "Report by" t least with a deperature card you know when you have to leave .

I had my non imm B visa ended when I got a Work permit , I have a new visa which is valid until July of 2010, there is nothing about reporting again before this date, but I have been told by someone that I still have to go to immigration for 90 days for reporting. There was no date in my visa or anywhere else giving me a date to report to Immigration.Is this correct and how do I know the date I have to report. The deperature card and date I have when I entered with the the Non Imm B is surely invalid now because I have a new visa date to leave the country. What are the current rules?

thai airways ranked in top 3, I seriously find that very hard to believe though. heres my take on this matter

1. thai airways lost some 41 billion baht, this was reported and did lay off staff

2. due to various conflicts and other parties of interest who seem to be involved with thai airways, it will never even be in the top 10 let alone top 3 in anything

3. Even bangkok airways does better than thai airways. I've flown singapore airlines, cathay pacific & korean airlines and let me tell you there all very similiar in taking care of their customers. Their structure, management, employees is done good.

4. I could fly thai airways if it suddenly became a low budget airline.

1. old airplanes

2. poor services

3. a bankrupt airline still flying

The last time that I arrived at Suvarnabhumi airport, it was late at night after the airport bus (my usual mode of transport) had stopped operating and I was approached by a couple of obviously illegal taxi operators. I wanted to go to the Siam Square area and they offered a price of 400Baht which I managed to reduce to 350 Baht after much persuasion. The driver took us to a virtually lone private vehicle in an airport car park and took us to our destination safe and sound for the quoted price. We don't mind so much that the taxi operation was illegal as the price was competitive, but there may some out there who take more than just the fare by stealing from passengers or worse.

you could have got a bus 551 to victory mon, goes all night, then a taxi to siam square 50 bht. total 70 bht, dont need to use taxi scum anytime

Stop allowing people without tickets or security passes in the airport facilities. Only people with valid airline ticket / passport and official airport pass holders within the secured areas. The taxi issues can be controlled by concessions with metered transport.

Of course this has been the answer from the beginning, but only IF you they were serious about solving the problem , but they are not. ITS ALL SUPERFICIAL. Security personnel removing non employees of the airport or passengers without arrival or deperature proof.

The nub of this report is that AOT executives are involved in protecting the arrival hall scamsters, and that they are too well connected or too elite be touched.

I had never thought that that was the reason the scamsters act with (virtual) impunity. Accepting that fact, which for someone who's been in Amazing Thailand for a long time is quite easy, I give up.
