Got ripped-off in a glorified joke of an attic you literally couldn't swing a cat in: Hotel Best Western Monceau, last October at EURO 250 per night, booked online through Booking.com..forget them both for a start! Try to get referral from friend who has same taste and price level you have.

Can the gentleman whose wife was importuned by a snake kindly provide details of near fatal pit viper bite of a year ago that nearly killed his wife e.g.:-
1. How she survived the pit viper bite?
2. What part of the body was bitten.
2, What treatment she was given, initially and subsequently?
3. Any further helpful adviceReason I ask is that occasionally I run into these pit vipers, who are, in my opinion, aggressive and repulsive buggers and I narrowly missed being bitten and wish to know how I can prepare for any future potential bite.
Incidentally, I believe in live and let live and I don't mind snakes as long as they keep to their side of the road and allow me to stay on mine. However, they come into the garden in all shapes and sizes. Some of them even hang about the sauce pans rack etc etc. in the outside kitchen creating mayhem among the women folk and the doggie woggies.
Also, this business about not harming the harmless variety. How can one tell if they are harmless or not in the instant that one sees one? Reminds me of the story of the new arrival with the US Army in Vietnam recounted to me by a Marine sergeant years ago. The rookie was on his first patrol in the jungle trying to root out some North Vietnamese. He surprised one behind a tree and not sure that he was North Vietnamese, or, not - obviously not having had the pleasure of meeting one before-decided that it was good manners to ask before he shot him. Unfortunately for the rookie the answer was in the affirmative. He never got his shot off and he went home in a body bag.RIP.

That government department mentioned below must be busy.
Had problems in the past. Seems to happen most in areas where there are multiple housing units.
I resolved my problem by telling my local clairvoyant about it who said that the dogs would be soon going on a long journey....which, strangely enough, happened..

Rip-off falang call center psychopaths.
Not worth discussing the ins and outs of their sentences.
They are off the streets and the phones, that is all that matters.

Hats off to those who did something to stop this country being reduced to government by thieves and thugs.

Let's hope they start manufacturing here soon and running out charging stations.
Plenty of sun here for solar recharging! Best car ever.
When they start making the smaller model they will sweep the board, goodbye gasoline ICE and good riddance.

I assume the person who posted this question is armed and may be having continuing problems in his area and is wondering if a shoot first and ask questions later is a clear cut choice legally? I should think not.
If he is armed and the miscreant is running away, let the burglar go. If he is coming at you you have no choice but to let him have it.
The farmer in the UK who shot to death a burglar lost his case because, I believe, he shot the burglar in the back. Otherwise, he might have swung the jury in his favour.
The law and people have to consider if the homeowner is unsound mentally and if declared innocent, will celebrate by shooting his mother-in-law, the bugger next door who plays loud music and everybody else in sight, once released.
Moreover, the law and the people must consider if the homeowner is released will it encourage a lot of other people to start doing the same.
However, we all have the natural right to protect ourselves. Its easy for people to rationalize later.who haven't personally had the nightmarish experience of being confronted by some frothing homicidal manic, or, two, in the privacy of their own home.
Which is better? You and your wife and family being murdered, or, being forced to dispatch some crazed, useless and drugged-up moron who has invaded one's home.
Living here, one must also consider, having taken the Dirty Harry option, is one comfortable with the idea of sitting in the corner of prison cell, with 20 others,, chained to the wall, for five years, while their case is being considered.
If the writer is having serious problems maybe should consider getting a large, scary, salivating mastiff, or, three. Keep a couple in the garden and the other in the bedroom.
Dogs seem do what they like here. They don't even need a visa!

get the jabs saspo and send the bill to the dog owners. My daughter was bitten by a dog and she suffered the shots, so do it and put it all behind you. if you don't, every time you have a suspected medical problem you will think its rabies. Moreover, its a nasty way to die, probably the nastiest and the incubation period can be quite long. Do it now.

I have a HDMI outlet on both my laptop and TV. Simply purchased a cable , paid a subscription and now watch UK TV on line. Really great programmes and very clear picture so it is good bye to True Vision.
Well done.
Paid a subscription to to whom??? Could you please post URL of company that you paid subscription to.
Incidentally, who is your Internet provider telecom company and what speed do you get??
Can you get live EPL??
(Only keep True for Setanta for rugby now as EPL gone from Trueand movie and general content choice a pale reflection on what you can get on Youtube.)
Many thanks in anticipation

Read Schopenhauer's tract: "On Women!"
Extract:
"Nature has made it the calling of the young, strong, and handsome men to look after the propagation of the human race; so that the species may not degenerate. This is the firm will of Nature, and it finds its expression in the passions of women.
This law surpasses all others in both age and power.
Woe then to the man who sets up rights and interests in such a way as to make them stand in the way of it; for whatever he may do or say, they will, at the first significant onset, be unmercifully annihilated. For the secret, unformulated, nay, unconscious but innate moral of woman is:
We are justified in deceiving those who, because they care a little for us,—that is to say for the individual,—imagine they have obtained rights over the species. The constitution, and consequently the welfare of the species, have been put into our hands and entrusted to our care through the medium of the next generation which proceeds from us; let us fulfil our duties conscientiously.
But women are by no means conscious of this leading principle in abstracto, they are only conscious of it in concreto, and have no other way of expressing it than in the manner in which they act when the opportunity arrives.
So that their conscience does not trouble them so much as we imagine, for in the darkest depths of their hearts they are conscious that in violating their duty towards the individual they have all the better fulfilled it towards the species, whose claim upon them is infinitely greater."
(A fuller explanation of this matter may be found in vol. ii., ch. 44, in my chief work, Die Welt als Wille und Vorstellung.)
5 Baht is an infinitesimally small price to pay to personally experience this trait in full flood.

when he showed it he said that he was looking for a corn plaster.
The 7/11 girl exclaimed: "That's not a foot."
To which the Ruski replied:
"Well, its a good six inches!"

Thanks for this.
He was my hero and should have been awarded a Nobel Prize for literature in his lifetime.
He broke the mold in writing.
By co-incidence I have just been watching 'The Tall T'-Randolph Scott Movie based on Leonard's The Captives, directed by Budd Boetticher, with Randolph Scott, Richard Boone, Maureen O'Sullivan, Arthur Hunnicutt.
Martin Amiss payed him this compliment: "Elmore Leonard writes re-readable thrillers."
He was one of the late Maeve Binchy's favourite writers.
Fortunately, we are left with a treasure trove of his books to read and re-read and movies to enjoy.
He was never precious about his work and never complained about Hollywood's treatment of it, at least to my knowledge.
I saw many of his movies before I ever knew him as a writer.
"Hombre" was memorable with Newman, Boone, Frederick March.Martin Ritt directed.
Delmer Daves did a terrific job of '3.10 to Yuma.' a Leonard short story, with Glenn Ford, Van Heflin and Felicia Farr giving terrific performances.
Latterly, of course, ''Get Shorty'' made it to the big time and 'Out of Sight' was given terrific respect by Steven Soderbergh, George Clooney, Jennifer Lopez, Ving
Rhames, Steve Zahn and the late lamented Dennis Farina.
Quentin Taratino did a good job on 'Rum Punch'/'Jackie Brown', which was, I believe. Elmore's favourite screen adaptation of his work.
Hollywood producers, directors and actors owe him a huge debt of gratitude for giving them something respectable to work with.
If anybody reading this is just discovering his work and worth: enjoy. You are in for a treat. However, take his work slowly if you are reading them for the first time. He tells his stories through the characters and dialogue.
Go to his website and start reading. If you have a Kindle just search and you will find a treasure trove.
As I write this, it seems that we have had a recent blitz of RIPs who one hopes will give old Elmore a rousing welcome in Valhalla, not to mention the many directors and actors who have passed-on during Elomore's long years in front of the typewriter grinding out his masterpieces hour upon hour and day after day..
Rest in Peace Elmore, we all owe you a debt of gratitude which is best served by remembering that without the writer there would no good movies..

Many thanks for the replies:
Is that the dental practice on the right going north ,on the corner of a little soi - 4 or 5 dentists operating together?
Had a nightmare in Cha Am-probably the same place you went; Lately advised by reception staff when I inquired about where the dentist that operated on me was: "She go learn more!"
If you dont mind a trip to Petchaburi, on the road that runs behind Big C is a great dentist. The lady speaks reasonable English. Implants including extraction and a plate to where while the gum is retracting cost between 48,000 and 65,000...depends if you want Asian, U.S. or European implant........I must say that the Cha am dentist is hopless, I needed a filling a few weeks ago and didnt have time to go to Petchaburi so went in Cha am......the dentist there wanted to extract the tooth and said we must also extract the bottom one also to match, what rubbish,
