  1. I knew this Thai woman in the US that was married to an American.  They had a falling out and he had had her sign a prenup before they got married which basically left her a car and a few bucks. He filed for divorce and produced the ironclad prenup. She went through 5 lawyers and lost at every turn.  Then she had her family in Thailand to borrow money against their house for even more lawyers to fight this losing battle.  I'm not sure how much money she lost in all this, but it was a lot.  In the end she didn't get another penny and the lawyers made a bunch of money.  I tried to reason with her and tell her to move on, but she was having none of it.

Point of the story, once one of these girls is convinced they are in the right, nothing will change their mind.  Nothing.

  2. I was issued a 1 year multiple entry at Savannakhet in late October.  I'm ready to apply for an extension of stay.  I've been reading that a TM7 is required as well as the following:  (Copied from another post here)

    Quote

Copy of data page of your Passport

Copy of Thai Visa page in Passport

Copy of Arrival and Departure card

Letter from your Embassy confirming your monthly and annual income (if applying for marriage Visa extension based on having income of 40,000baht minimum per month)

    Copy of Marriage Certificate

Copy of Kor Ror 2 document from Ampur confirming details on Marriage certificate are true

    Copy of House book

Copy of Wife's Thai ID card

Photos of Self, Wife inside home, and outside home showing house number (I took many photos in all rooms of house, and outside and let Officer select what he wanted! Too much is always better..!)

3 Photos of applicant, 6x4cm size, Passport style

Map showing location of family home. (I used Google Map satellite view, superimposing photo of our home, arrowed to aerial view of our house and land on Google map. Officer liked this!)

    I have a few questions:

    1. I'm going to apply based on income, not money in the bank.   Is an income letter from the U.S. embassy enough?  I work for a company out of Singapore and they will generate a letter for me as well.  I'm well over the 40k a month.

    2. It's been more than 60 days since my Non-O was issued.  Can I apply now?  I've left and returned to Thailand multiple times since then if that matters.

    3.  My wife and I live in Bangkok and rent an apartment.  The lease is in her name.  I know that I need a copy of her blue book and ID card which are both out of Si Saket.

    4.  My marriage certificate as well as the documents from MFA are over 10 years old.  Do I need anything new from the Amphur or MFA?  I notice the post above mentions a Kor Ror 2.  Not sure what that is.

    5.  Where do I go to apply?  The immigration office on Chaeng Watthana?  Do I need to make an appointment or just show up?

  3. I have a friends that is visiting from the U.S. with a U.S. passport. She is staying in Ratchaburi.  Her current 30 day stamp expires on 11-1-2017.  She would like to stay until 27-1-2017.  I told her it might be possible for her to do a border run to Kanchanaburi/Ban Phu Nam Ron, but I'm reading here they will not give out 14 day stamps there.   Can someone advise if this is true?  Also, if this is true, what are her options?  Go all the way to Poipet?

  4. I will be applying and hopefully receiving a Non-O based on marriage at Savannakhet next week.  From what I've been reading they don't ask to see money in the bank for a certain period of time or proof of income.  After receiving the Non-O I understand that I can apply for an extension of stay 30 days prior to the end of the first 90 days.  I will be applying for the extension of stay in Bangkok.  Will I need to show 400k (or more) in the bank for a certain period of time?  If required, what is the minimum time period the funds must remain in the bank?  Will it work using income and not the 400k in the bank?  If so, how much income?  Is it just a matter of going to the U.S. embassy and getting a sworn letter, or do they want to see some sort of proof of income?

I'm sure this question has been answered 1000 times, but for some reason when I search I can't find anything.
