  1. Well actually, it pretty much does give them carte blanche, if they win the vote, up to them.

Sent from my LG-P880 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Actually no it does not, as we've seen here. There is thankfully a working judicial branch of government that worked as it should in this case.

  2. Currently a spouse visa is taking roughly 460 days start to finish. That number has risen significantly in the past year for some reason. The norm since ~2008 has been about 10 months. The reason it took years prior to 2008 was the bottleneck at NVC (National Visa Center) in the U.S. They then came out with the K-3 visa to get around the NVC bottleneck. Since that has been resolved, the K-3 is not an option in 99+% of the cases nowadays. That said, if the NVC processing times keep rising the way they are, K-3 may be an option again in the near future.

  3. Woman caught sneaking into U.S. in suitcase

Agents on the Arizona border foiled the attempted smuggling of a woman hidden inside a suitcase on December 30, 2013.

(CNN) -- Customs and Border Protection officers foiled a smuggling attempt at the U.S.-Mexico border when they discovered a woman contorted and hidden inside a suitcase.

Officials released a photo this week showing the woman tucked into a ball and laying inside the luggage in the back of a vehicle.

The woman, a Thai national named Pornkamol Mongkolsermsak, was charged with re-entry after deportation, CBP spokesman Victor Brabble said.

She was discovered on December 30, when inspectors at the border referred the driver of a Honda SUV for a secondary inspection, CBP said in a statement.

When officers inspected the vehicle, they opened up the suitcase and found the 48-year-old woman hidden underneath some clothing.

Authorities did not release the name of the 56-year-old Phoenix man who was driving the SUV.

The case has been turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, CBP said.

  4. Regarding the slavery thing, I am not saying that you are for slavery. If you look at the constitution, when they posed the question of "All men are equal..." some people saw slave as property, so they were not free men. So they don't fit that definition. So in a sense it was not at all illegal. That is why the civil war was such a tragedy in US history. They couldn't talk it out, because it was so contentious. So they fought instead. But that is what I was trying to point out, that there can be flaw too, and depends who holds power will abuse the flaw. But do we keep quite and let it continue to run and take the nation to ruins? Again it's up to one ideology. And as you say, we each have our views.

But thanks for the debate. Moving on.

That brings up a good point. Simply because a majority of voters elects a party into office, doesn't mean that gives them carte blanche to do whatever they want. I.E. pardoning your brother of all crimes. They tried to pull the wool over the people's eyes at 5 am and now they're paying for it. Now little sis acts all shocked with tears in her eyes wondering why this is happening.

  5. Who are the "fair and just" people of Thailand? Not Thaksin and certainly not Suthep.

Thaksin is running the country through his sister. This has been proven about 100 times, 100 different ways. He's said so himself. I can't see how anyone is fine with that.

  6. July 11 was 6 months earlier than he had to, not a year. He should've held them in 09 imo. But anyway, you're criticizing the red shirts for not taking his first offer - which in retrospect, yes, they should have - yet you're supporting Suthep's group who won't accept a house dissolution at all?

I mean, far be it from me to accuse you of double standards or anything...

Where did I say I support Suthep and his Politburo ideals? I don't think I did. The only thing I said is that the red shirts set the precedent for what is happening now, back in 2010. That's not supporting Suthep. I do think the murder charges they're trying to pin on him and Abhisit are laughable though.

Not really the precedent as they would've accepted immediate house dissolution, or even three months which was their demand. But OK, sorry had misunderstood, thought you were a supporter of the 'grand council' idea.

Ideally the best thing would be for Thasksin and his family/friends/drivers/cronies/pets etc. to be out of Thai politics permanently. I don't really see how that could be accomplished though. It's been proven time and again that his ego is much more important than the Thai people. Hell I'd argue that his ego is more important to him than his own sister. It's obvious she's in way over her head in all this, yet he comes out says things like "She's my clone" and "Thaksin thinks, Pheu Thai Does" I actually feel sorry for her. He's not doing her any favors.

  8. How can any of these government officials be taken seriously when some of them gave moral and financial support to the protesters that shut down Bangkok in 2010?

As the saying goes 'i'ts water under the bridge'one must look forward not back wards.

What a pity that little pearl of wisdom is not used in defence of any politician involved in crime, insurrection and killings. rolleyes.gif

"Your honor, let's not dwell on the hatchet I buried in my wife's forehead. That's water under the bridge. Let's move forward and not look backwards" whistling.gif

    Probably wouldn't work as defense.

  9. How can any of these government officials be taken seriously when some of them gave moral and financial support to the protesters that shut down Bangkok in 2010?

In 2010, they were forced to resort to such means just in order to win their democratic right to vote because it was clear from all the interviews he was giving on such new channels as CNN and BBC that Abhisit was going to postpone elections for as long as he could using any excuse that he couldbah.gif

And the same thing would happen again if they were to overthrow the democratic process again

How can you postpone an election that was never called? The Abhisit government in 2010 was under no obligation to call elections at the time of the hostage taking of Bangkok. He didn't need to call elections until 2012. As a matter of fact he offered to call them in November 2010, almost 2 years earlier than he needed to in order to appease the red thugs. The red shirts initially accepted this compromise, but then reneged. I suspect the man in Dubai wouldn't be happy unless he got all or nothing. In the end Abhisit called elections a year earlier than he had to. The election actually took place in July 2011. Seems all those people died for nothing in 2010.

Thaivisa should have a pinned topic that explains how elections and parliament works in Thailand. My fingers are getting tired of typing the same thing over and over and over.

  10. What brought them out was their inability to win by the rules. Not so hard to do what Thaksin did, The opposition could have started a party to fracture the northern stronghold. But they were too proud or too dumb.

What brought them out was PTP trying to ram through an amnesty package for their paymaster at 4 am while also trying to change the constitution having to do with how Senators are elected/appointed. If they were brought out by their inability to win an election, they would've been out a year or two ago when they didn't win the last election.

An old-timer used to tell me "nothing good happens after midnight" I guess that goes for absolving your master of all previous legal sins as well.

  11. Says a lot about their opposition though.

No doubt. You have one side that is being run by a crook on the run, and the other side being run by a bunch of incompetents. I guess for your average poor voter, you might as well get a few hundred baht for your vote.

Also, the opposition doesn't have near the vote buying network that Thaksin does. They probably need to step that up.

  12. Shinawatras win elections! They are not stupid.

Doesn't say much for the people that vote for them. Anyone that falls for election promises like "All Thais will be rich in 6 months" probably isn't voting on the issues.

  13. Sabaidee Airways Co., Ltd. founded by Thai businessmen who operates their businesses primarily through tourism industry in China on the name of New Generation Travel & Trade Co., Ltd which is number one travel agency in Thailand where brings Chinese tourists from 14 cities to Thailand by more than 20,000 persons per month, approximately 700-900 tourists a day from Wuxi, Yinchuan, Taiyuan, Changsha, Tianjin, Zhengzhou, Chengdu and so on.

Formerly, the company would be served their passengers by many airlines operators in Thailand and China.

Since a lot of problem to get the seat from airlines that made an idea of having their own airline to serve this market is creatively generated and operated by the new generation of young entrepreneurs who are highly experienced in financial, marketing, technical, and operational functioning of aviation industry.

    No further questions.

I've never heard of most of those Chinese cities. Do they even have airports?

Yes Try google. China is building a lot of new airports too.

What's a google? Will it make you sick?

  14. So she has about 60k USD? Might be able to buy a 1972 Cessna 152 two seater with that much cash.

Maybe there is a backer in the middle east looking to invest in an airline?

Seems like small potatoes for him. OTOH, throwing a few bucks at some crack pot airline venture may keep his paid thugs happy for awhile.

  16. I just had an ugly mental picture of Jatuporn serving drinks in a short skirt,

Yingluck announcing the safety instructions in her bargirl English and you got a real "mental airline".

I've been racking my brain trying to figure out where I'd heard someone speak English the way Yingluck does. It was Soi Cowboy!!
