  1. By the way, you replied before I edited my post. After I posted it and read my own words, I realized they were very snide "towards you" and that was not at all my intention but was just reacting to what I saw was the shifting Thai criticism in a topic about a guy killing himself. So, I apologize I didn't edit the post sooner or choose my words differently originally but again, my intent was not to be disrespectful to you and I just sometimes focus on the words I read and forget I am responding to another human and not just interacting with words on my computer screen.

No problem at all. I do the same thing all the time on these message boards.

  2. "Remove the democrats". Or why not just "remove democracy". Instead show allegiance to Thaksin and his whole family most of whom are already in high office politics and business, accept our future leader son of Thaksin, the male heir of our illustrious Leader. There is no need for democratic debate or dissent. Our supreme leader would never sell us out to any other world power, is a true patriotic Thai even though he and his sister are third generation Chinese, the red imagery, agrarian revolution speeches and big demagogue photos of Thaksin everywhere are just a coincidence and are nothing to do with Maoism at all. There will be no forced labour camps under Thaksin's familial oligarchy police-state. Be sure that redmob will never arrest people for dissenting, or hand out home addresses of dissenters to their bootboys. Admire Thaksin for his courage even though he ran away from a short comfortable jail-term. Trust him even though he stole billions from the Thai State and therefor from Thailand's poorest.

Redmob don't want Democrats, democratic debate nor accountability, or even democracy itself. They want autocratic rule. Redmob leadership is the chrysalis of a future tyranny.

''Redmob don't want Democrats, democratic debate nor accountability, or even democracy itself.''

Taking a leaf out of PAD's book then.

Good job resurrecting a 5month old thread.

  3. Why is it so shocking to come to the realization that many women in a poor country that offers little opportunity for them to be financially independent would want to be with a financially successful man who provides for them? Is this unheard of in any country? Would all the overweight and over age farangs prefer if their main concern was body and looks? Oh wait, do you want them all to be like most of us men are and not care about looks, body type, age or anything else except if they have a good heart (minus the part of looking down on, distrusting and wanting to control the opposite sex) and of course not ever cheat with another women who poses qualities we desire?

A guy chooses to off himself and like most any topic that a Thai women is mentioned in the story, there seems to be those who have to find a way to generalize about Thai women negatively even though a good portion of these men are here because it is one of the few places to go where they can still hook up with young hot women and yet they still find a way to moan and groan and see the negative. Maybe it is just me but it seems the men complaining in this scenario that are the ones that need to address their own issues more so than pointing out the faults of women.

I'd love to see the statistics of foreigners jumping to their deaths in Pattaya, Bangkok, and Phuket, compared to other places in the world. Maybe it's just me, but it seems fairly common in those 3 places.

So, now we move onto painting Thailand in a bad light because a guy decided to commit suicide and then go onto to talk about suicide number of jumpers in cities even though this guy didn't jump.

Well, the stats you want are out there if you want to find them but can assure you neither Thailand nor these cities have the highest suicide rates and in fact western countries such as the US, Australia and many European nations have much higher rates of suicide ... including Russia (isn't this guy Russian?) which rates as having one of the highest suicide rates in the world. How about take a city like Las Vegas were for every 100,000 people, 35 off themselves yearly.

Please get a grip and realize your news source while in Thailand that is geared to reporting anything of interest to fellow farangs. Have you seen many new stories re-posted here about Thai suicides even though any reasonable person would know their numbers far out weigh those of farangs. Yet, we will continue to see the never ending posts here whenever a farang dies that it must be a cover-up and whenever a farang commits a crime here it is a set-up ... we know this because farangs don't do these things back in their home country and Thailand is a country known for mostly only attracting the highest quality of tourists.

I have a grip thank you. I wonder how many Thais commit suicide in the U.S. Australia, Europe? Your missing my point totally. I live in Dallas. I lived in Thailand for a few years. While I lived in Thailand it seemed that western tourists were jumping to their deaths at a pretty high rate. Here if someone takes a leap, you hear about it as well. It's not even close to as common here as it is in Pattaya or Phuket, not to mention I never hear about Thais jumping in Thailand.

How many of the 35 in Vegas, or countless in Russia are leaping off of hotel balconies, or getting found hanging from a light pole with a bag taped over your head and the cops just say, "Ahh that's how foregners kill themselves"

I'm not painting Thailand in a bad light. The story is there for all to read, and everyone can draw their own conclusions. If people judge Thailand in a bad light due to some news stories, so be it.

I know the guy in my post didn't jump. Re-read my post. I can read. Can you?

  5. One of my favorites:

    Foreign man found dead

A foreign man was found hanging from an electric pole in a suspected suicide in Klong Toei district at about 6am yesterday, police said.

Police rushed to the scene near the Sukhumvit-Rama IV expressway to find a body of an unidentified man. He was 1.8 metres tall, of fair-complexion with brown hair, wearing a black T-shirt, brown pants and black dress shoes, Lieutenant Kavipong Saengreung of Lumpini police station said.

The man’s head was covered with a plastic bag tied with masking tape. He was found hanging by nylon rope from 25-metre-tall electric pole.

“We suspect suicide, partly because Westerners usually kill themselves like this,” said Lumpini superintendent, Colonel Suphisarn Pakdinarunart.

The policeman presumed that the man might be German because the plastic bag belonged to a German brand ‘Manner’. However, evidence including his fingerprints and photos would be sent to the country to establish who he was.

The man was thought to have been dead for at least two hours, the officer said. A cigarette burn was found on his right palm, and he had Bt230 cash in his pocket. Three water bottles, one roll of masking tape and a plastic bag were found about two metres away. Police suspect the man may have bought these items in preparation to commit suicide.

The man’s body was sent for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, police said. – The Nation

  6. Most of the girls' families in such places don't even know what their relative is doing. They came to BKK and hit the jackpot, as far a family is concerned; and after knowing many they do lie to their families and enjoy the money.

The sad part is that drug use is abundant in these girls, as their original etiquette of Thainess has been lost, and they are somewhat embarassed at what they do. However, once into the money, the ritual becomes a life-style.

It should be of concern to most farang who use these services, that if a drug raged 'available' can do this to her friend at the end of a night, what could she do to you also??

    -mel. ohmy.png

Excellent post. Only part I disagree with, is that many of these girls families know exactly what their daughters are doing and some with their blessings.

Strongly agree! Most families DO know exactly what their daughters are doing and just pretend to not know, to not "lose their face"... It is quite obvious - even to someone who needs a calculator to figure out what 100 minus 50 is - that a normal worker who reels in a maximum of 8k per month and who needs to pay for her transport, food, rental apartment, clothes, etc. simply can't lay 5k or more per month on the family table back in Isaan or elsewhere, letting alone driving up there frequently by bus in chique clothing and dyed hair to show off the 100s of grams of gold hanging around their necks, wrists and ankles...

Usually the story goes like this: (Honest and hard office secretary girl visits parents in Loey)

"Oh child, so nice to see you! Look at ou, you have gotten fat! Thanks for the 2.000 THB... your dad needs that operation, you know, and the neighbors want their money back for the chickens we borrowed off them... It's more than 20.000 Baht altogether, oh what should we do about that, my child? You remember Noi, do you? Your old school pal from the soi next to the bus station? She is a real good girl, oh she loves her parents sooooo much! Guess what - she just bought her dad a new Fino!!! And she gave 30.000 Baht to her mom, just ike that. How lucky those people are to have such a good daughter... You love mom and dad, don't you? You know, Noi's parents said she has a special job in Pattaya and has a very kind "Farang" boss. They said you can call Noi and ask her if she can get you in... Isn't that just great? Oh, come here, let me give you a hug my deer, haven't seen you for such a long time! You know we love you, don't you? And you love us too, no? Go ahead baby and call Noi, and ask her how she's doing..."

It's sickening and happens by the thousands every single day... Been there, done that, heard it, wrote about it, bought the T-shirt...

The drugs they take to let it all fade away and forget about the fat-bellied stinking drunk old farts who want to #$$ rape them without condom, the (politically correct) middle-eastern looking f#$&s who have their friends waitning back in the apartment so they can go on and have a gang bang for free, the sick #$$holes who cuff them or duck-tape them and put out cigarette buds on their bodies, the money-hungry nagging parents and relatives back home, the Mama-San and all that other <deleted> that comes with the job. That from time to time one of them looses it completely while under drugs comes not as a surprise. I feel sorry for both girls involved and hope that the drug dealer who pushed just that one pill to the killing girl will get hit by a ten wheeler and has to spend the rest of his life as a living vegetable in a wheelchair.

I'd say that about sums it up.

  7. CDNSKI12:

Very sad commentary. If you read my post you'll see I "did not" use an agency. It was very easy to do on my own. It did not cost much either.

    SLOWLYMAN:

I applied for a Tourist Visa based on advice from an agency that suggested I could do it on my own and not have the cost of using his agency. I thought that was a very considerate gesture on his part.

A fiance Visa (K1 I believe) is more involved and you will probably need an agency because of the different rules and forms necessary.

A K3 Visa is a marriage Visa and assumes you are already married to a Thai. This was what I originally called the agency for. I had been married for 2 years in Thailand. An agencies help is also necessary and takes up to a year to process. Lots of paperwork and legwork on your part plus expensive from what I gathered.

A tourist Visa is what he suggested I try on my own. It's and easy 1 form "download from the Embassy. Buy a pin code( $15 on the internet with A CREDIT VARD) to access the appointment calendar. pay the fee ($160) at the post office. Then just set up the appointment. The questions they asked my wife were just general in nature and I think it was her natural self that pulled it off. She is a very genuine, sincere person and I think the interviewer saw that. Try it.

K3 visa is dead. Once the I-130 and I-129F petitions reach NVC at the same time, NVC closes the I-129F and continues on with the I-130. This will result in either a CR-1 or IR-1 visa. CR-1 = married less than 2 years and will result in a 2 year green card. IR-1 = married more than 2 years and will result in a 10 year green card.

  8. Where do a few of you come from even in the states a murder defendant can be granted bail as well as a convicted murder awaiting appeal. This is more likely granted to someone of influence kind of the same as Thailand.

I know some who was accused of murder and they were locked up for a month awaiting the second bail hearing as the first was sandbagged by the district attorney. The bail amount was reduced 500,000dollars from 1 million when friends of the charged testified to his sterling character. Eventually the DA dropped the murder charge for lack of evidence but the ddefendant had to plead to a lesser charge of destroying evidence and it was finished as time served. The system is not perfect at home or in Thailand.

Exactly - this is similar to that famous footballer in the uSA who got off with murder.

Not at all similar. Not even close actually. After he was charged and arrested, he was refused bail. He had a trial and was found not guilty. No bail was ever granted.

Bolded above is 100% wrong. Please cite a case.
