  1. I have been together with my wife for over 20 years.

She is funny and smart. She works 12 to 14 hours a day. Not because she has to, but because she likes it. She doesn't gamble, drink, or smoke. I respect her, she respects me. I trust her, she trusts me. We never nag or quarrel. All my family and friends In Europe like her. She does not to try to impress people by decorating herself with gold, but by the success she has in her businesses. She's a woman for sunshine and for rain.

To make a long story short: I am a Lucky man.

  2. I found Dielectric grease In Phuket:

At GC Huat: From Permatex, 3grams =95 Baht (1kg=31'666 Baht)

At Bangkok hardware: From CRC, 94grams=799 Baht (1kg=8'500 Baht)

    Thank you So much:jap:

Just a little bit off topic.

Is there a special grease for battery connectors? Or can I take any grease?

Yes there is. It's called dielectric grease.

  3. Well that's interesting.

Would never have thought of that.

    Thank you Samtran.

Which of the Vaselines would be the most suitable, in your highly estimated opinion?

New sheer infusion or Total moisture or Intensive rescue or Cocoa butter or Petroleum Jelly?

    Vaseline. :)

  4. About 1 km (+/- 300 m) before Supercheap is a small shop which sells all kinds of chemicals for your plants. Plus soil and planting bags etc.etc. The boss knows a lot about plants.

But I shall try cig/garlic/soap mixture.

  5. As English is not my mother tongue, I checked for "cock -up" in Webster's New World Dictionary. No have.

So I don't know, if the following is a Cock-up, but I think it is pretty funny.

There used to be a laundry in Kata, which advertised their service :

"Drop your pants here, for best results" !

which kind of durian are you talking about.... heh....?

    1--morn-tong (หมอนทอง meaning gold pillow):

most expensive and consist of mostly yellow flesh and very small hard yellow seeds, i paid wholesale about 20 thb per kilo, retail price depends on region, bkk 350 thb, hatyai 45 thb

2--cha-knee (ชะนี meaning yellowish skinny monkey):

less expensive and consist of larger yellow seeds but is still meaty

    3--garn-yaeow (ก้านยาว meaning long stem):

    similar to cha-knee

4--baarn (ทุเรียนบ้าน meaning home or local durian):

least expensive and contain mostly of very large yellow seeds. most will not detach from branches unless they are ready for consumption, which can not be said of the other three categories. many would be taken down before they are ready for consumption.... so they can be frozen and packaged and shipped overseas even for a much higher price tag....

    5--too-rian guan (ทุเรียนกวน):

meat of various kind of durian was detached from seeds and very slowly cooked on a frying pan until it becomes very sticky. i used to receive this kind of durian from my great great grand children on a monthly basis.... if possible try to avoid this type of cooked durian.... our digestive system might not be able to endure all sort of impurities contained in the cooked durian....:o

as a matter of fact, i just consumed the whole 1.3 kg of morn-tong this evening.... in place of my usual dinner.... :D

Ate a durian in CM. Called "Ko damm". Perfectly delicious. Took the seeds down to Phuket. Now I have 4 little "Ko damm-trees". Sanuk.

  7. I'm on Kata Cable. No F1, No Moto GP, No Wimbledon. When I went to ask why, they told me, the satelite is on the other side of the earth. Now I know, and you also.

From GUMPisms: "Be prepaired to take some shit in life; just do not take a mouthful at a time."

  8. Are you trying to advertise here disguised a posting ?

If you're seriously posting a little readable info on what it actually does, why it is worth talking about here and mentioning

some alternatives - i.e. a discussion on "are there any advantages with... as opposed to..." or similar.

Smells like advertising to me. I'm not a farmer, but if i was I wouldn't take any recommendations from you. :)

Is that you or your colleague to the left on the picture ?

Guyselas post is a hel_l of a lot more interesting than yours.

    From Guysela I get information.

    From you I get what???

Mails like yours are just wasting my time.

  9. Can you give me address and/or telephone of this farmer ? I have been trying to grow figs from seeds, but up to now still no success

    Kind regards,

    Leo.

My wife wants to grow figs and has bought a variety of species to start. She read about a Thai farmer growing figs commercially, with some success, so we went to visit him in Pichit a couple of weeks ago. He said his best success comes from grafting his various fruit species on to local species fig tree, and I noticed almost all his rees were growing under plastic to ward off birds and excessive moisture.

I love figs. Used to make fig jam in my aunts house in the Toscana.

Brought some trees to my farm in Nakhon Sawan. They all died in the big flood about 10 years ago. As did my Olive tree, and my coffee trees, and 300 mango trees and.....5'000 fish swam awai.

Got a small fig tree in BKK a few months ago. It's now in a big pot on my balcony in Phuket. Looking healthy, but not growing any more.

Here is an address, where they sell fig trees:

Sukhothai Garden: Mai Phoethong Village, TB Baan Namphu, Khiri Mat, Sukothai

    Contact: Thera Jarernkit

  10. A driver is stuck in a traffic jam in Bangkok. Nothing is moving.

Suddenly a man knocks on the window.

The driver rolls down his window and asks, "What's going on?"

"Terrorists have kidnapped Taksin Shinawatra and his cronies.

They're asking for a $10 million ransom otherwise they're going to douse

them with petrol and set them on fire, We're going from car to car, taking

    up a collection."

The driver asks, "How much is everyone giving, on average?"

    "About a litre."

  11. CLS. Phuket town. Phang Nga Rd. Opposite Royal Phuket City Hotel.

Have bought all my tickets there, for the last 11 years.

Talk to Jane. Quick, clever, good enough English, and charming.

(Even my really jealous wife admits, that Jane is great.)

  12. Putting aside the law, how do you feel? what do you want to do?

Consider some facts. If you do not pay them and they resign. How quickly can you find new staff? How much time and money will it cost you to train them?

I think paying, would not only save you money in the long run, but also earn some good points with the staff.

Besides few thousand baht will not break your bank but will save lots of headaches.

Thank you Kufki, for a good answer.

As for the others: tb86,richardt1808,garryp, britmaverick, jingthing, thailandbluegrass, dragonquest, traxster. Why do you write all that useless stuff? It's not even funny. Do you run a business in Thailand?

Why don't you buy a watergun and go and play Songkran?

  13. From: Phuket Gazette:

Where can I safely dispose of lithium batteries? Is there a safe way to dispose of or recycle lithium batteries and other toxic products in Phuket so that they don’t end up in a landfill?

Alan Jones, Kathu Monday, October 26, 2009 “There are many bins where you can dispose of recyclable materials in Kathu. They are yellow in color.

Alternately, if you have items that can be recycled, you can put them in a black bag, call Kathu Municipality and we will organize for a garbage truck to go and collect it.

    For more information contact: Kathu Municipality, 12 Vichit Songkram Road, T. Kathu, A. Kathu, Phuket 83120. T: 076-321500 ext 111. F: 076-322126. E: [email protected]: kathucity.go.th

Somporn Sakayawikrom, sanitation officer of the Phuket Provincial Public Health Office, replied in a previous query:

In Phuket City we provide special bins in government schools and hotels to separate toxic waste. Phuket City municipality collects the material and and sends it to Saraburi where it is safely disposed of. In areas that do not have the specially designated bins at this time, you should place any toxic waste in a plastic bag and take it to the nearest hotel or municipality office in your area. We will then collect it and transfer it to the Phuket City municipality. It is important that you do not destroy it yourself or dispose of it by burying it in the ground.

For more information on toxic waste management contact Phuket Provincial Public Health Office on Narisorn Rd. T: 076-211330. Email: [email protected] Monday, October 26, 2009 An officer at the Kathu Municipality Public Health Division
