  1. Charoen Siriwatthanaphakdi who owns pantip plaza could afford to have the whole place empty for the next 100 years and probably pay each customer 1000bht to walk into the shopping center. He is Thailand's third richest worth of US$12.2 billion. He is chairman of Thai Beverage as well as Fraser & Neave

  2. There are 5 shops in pattaya I have attached. I think 60 000baht up depends on your weight and the motor,, Good luck

  3. What people have to realise is these hospitals are run like businesses there is care but the main objective is to just fill in their back pockets. Senior management much be pushing doctors to make profits and ensure all visits are given medications with 100% to 300% markup of the price of a retail pharmacy. You only have to look at the thai stock market and look at the publicly listed hospitals they have all gone up by 50% to 70% in the last year......

I needed a checkup from a skin specialist at a hospital in Pattaya. I just want a routine check of a skin condition. I have no problem in paying for the 1500 check up fee but I was given a 300baht nurses fee. No nurse even saw me and also an administration fee plus the doctor. The doctor requested I go on a special vitamin a drug for a skin condition the hospital sell the box for 2100 baht I got the same pills for 900baht at the pharmacy and I told him a prescription wasn't necessary however he insisted I have some dermatological soap at 380baht where I can buy from big c for 80 baht I declined. And left paying 1900 baht.

  4. Rule number 1 never buy in pattaya. Then if something like this happens you are free to move after your contract. To many times i hear of horrible neighbours moving next door thats why i will always have my property invested in my home country and be free to roam here. If something happens i can move. Remeber easy to buy hard to sell.

  5. its very sad. I was his next door neighbor on level 6. His room was right next to mine. He was quiet and kept to himself. I would only say hello when we meet on the corridor. I saw him 1hr before on the balcony with his shirt off and his back to me. Im glad I didn't witness the event. He did like my cat when it ran into his room he wanted to feed it and give her some food. I don't believe there was any foul play.

  6. HI mr walen. just a question do you trade any other markets.

why do you invest in so many companies. wouldnt it be better to invest in less and get greater return. i think your portfolio is so diversified.

I did not invest in thailand cause it hit a 15 year high in may and its strange but i would rather invest heavily in the US and japanese. So far ive done really well.

Also why did you only start investing 2 weeks ago i think your a little late to the party.

  7. I think its crazy how the people are attacking you. These are the same people that will always sit on the fence and criticize and then get jealous if someone does make it big. I think you have every right to teach whatever you like. You are obviously very successful and no one on this board can deny that. I was looking at your schools its seems you have a dozen language schools running in Thailand and around the country. I doubt anyone on this board owns any business as successful as yours. I really don’t see what all the commotion is about.

  8. I love stray dogs and will continue feeding them. The pleasure I get from feeding puppies and dogs in Thailand is very rewarding.

If you love them that much then why don't you pay to get them vacinated or treated for all the deseases they have?

You're doing NO ONE any favours by continuing to feed them!

Ahh sorry but I am doing the dog a favor. If you were born a dog you would be grateful too. And its so rewarding when you give to the dogs food.

In the next few years im going to buy some rai near central pattaya and house about 200 of them.

  9. Good Morning All.

Any advice would be appreciated greatly. I currently live in Thailand and have now just returned to Australia after one year. I am here for a month. Unfortunately
my visa will expire. I had previously used a special Thai working holiday visa to stay in Thailand. I cannot use this Visa again. I have sufficient funds
to live in Thailand I do not work in Thailand and just make income trading shares on the stock market and have property investment. Does anyone have any advice what visa they use to stay in Thailand for people under 55 who cannot get a retirement visa.

I have noticed a website that will help obtain myself a visa (One Year Non-immigrant Thai visa for citizens of Australia ) has anyone else used a service like this or have they got an educational visa. If they are happy with their visa do you mind letting me know what visa you have used and what company helped obtained this visa.

  10. look thailand is extremely cheap im on 300 000 baht. month income......

look thailand is very expensive im on a retirement visa and have a government pension from abroad and now live on 18000 baht a month. maybe lower if the baht goes higher.

really depends on your income and assets and your expenses at the end of the day.

  11. I have my doubts about signing people up for a life time as you saw with california wow it doesnt work. A business like a gym needs constant cashflow. everything goes up over time. All it takes is for management to state they made a mistake and require all members to pay monthly or yearly and since there is no real competion it could work.

  12. my girlfriend and I help feed 30 dogs a day. i found these beautiful puppies which i have fed everyday. the land the puppies are on is private about 100 meter from a small hotel wgich is gated and the owner of the land told me i dont want you feeding these dogs anymore. its ashame i tried my best

  13. I am now living in Thailand and have been here since July 2012. I am 30yo and have settled in well. I am living in a condo in south pattaya. I recently was on a trip to repair my girlfriend clothes and went down a soi in pattaya. This soi is near lk residence and noticed many dogs. I immediately began to start feeding them. I would say now I feed 11 dogs on the soi. I am more than happy to do this. I give them 10 can of chicken dog food big c brand and sometimes cook them chicken or meat in large qualities. Now there is a mum dog and a husband dog at first they were very scared. However I tried to throw them food but other dogs would eat there food. Then one day I went into a field and found out where they live. Under all old wood and I saw 6 beautiful puppies. I felt sick to my stomach and upset that they would most probably die if I don’t feed them, I don’t know if there is a shelter or whether I should rent a huge house and start adopting the dogs but its such a long term commitment, My only problem is my times is running out where the little pups. Where they stay there are going to use the wood to build a development site so I feel obligated to do something.

In that time I witnessed the terrible actions of some thai men hurting these dogs. I saw one man chase the father dog on his motorbike and the next day I saw him he has a broken leg.

I was devastated that I didn’t intervene and was so angry. Then I got angry people at a nearby hotel telling me don’t feed the dogs ? I feel like shit. Any advice on what to do as it really makes me upset.

Tomorow i will taker a picture of the puppies.

  14. 32000 a month doesn't leave much if anything after the essentials and the smaller your room, the more time you'll want to spend outside. However, if you get a house, you get way more space and the air flow means much lower air con bills.

My gut feeling is that though it is possible in theory, it isn't in reality. There is nothing for medical care and it would be far better to jump on a plane and go back to the UK in reality. Long term, the baht will likely rise against the pound, leaving even less to play with and inflation in Thailand is likely to be much more than your pension increases. Eventually you cannot match the two.

Now if you could get together a million or two baht and buy your own house or condo, you insulate yourself against future rent rises.

I will second your opinion. 32000 might be OK in boring Rayong (1 hour away) where you can still get a 20 bahjt thai meal. In Pattaya just look at how many places, even in Jomtien, have jacked up their prices to absurd levels like 40 baht for kha mon gai..

And if you want the occasional night on the town or a nice fish n chps at Simon's ...well your 32000 might not be enough

I would say 45000 minimum for Pattaya and 60000 for Bangkok. I am assuming that you live in a one bed room with air con and not a shoe-box sized room.

if you are that angry that chicken and rice is 40 baht you can buy a kilo of chicken breast at big c for 67baht a kilo. now that is an amazing price back in australia i was laughing wen i bought it at $9.99 A kilo.... thailand is very cheap to live
