I fly international ex Bkk every 2 weeks and always use an English person called Guy who runs music travel - although he is based on the Darkside I have only ever met him twice in my 3 years of booking with him and find it easy to do by phone then email.

Actually not really. Like I said I feel for the op, terrible story. Thais make crap western food the service is average more often than not, and this proves it. I doubt very much the manager would have killed anybody over a hamburger. Whats next, he grinds up his victims into meat patties? The op wasnt bashed, just slapped a bit and told to go away, I wouldnt have waited as long as the op did to start for a dumb hamburger worth 50baht. Another page in the lakorn of Pattaya.

1) There are Thais cooking world class western food as we speak. There are even more Thais cooking western food on a par with any decent restaurant in the west. Your generalization is absurdly broad and inevitably inaccurate. (If you are making your declaration based on your experience in Pattaya beer bars...think about it.)

2) Service ranges from abysmal to world class. Again if you think you have a basis to assess from your experience in Pattaya bars...

3) The story - even if we knew for a fact it was 100% accurate and truthful, proves nothing of the sort. It would prove only something about that bar.

4) I doubt he would have killed him either. I don't even know that he actually did threaten him - but if he did, the threat itself is more than excessive in response to a reasonable complaint about food.

5) Bashed" or not, slapped AND punched is assault.

6) I wouldn't have waited even half that time. It's just one more thing I find...remarkable about the story.

as i said before we could not cancel the food,we had to pay for it anyway.

i belive he would have killed me as much as the staff who told him i go in the place and cause a problem many times.

he had to dig me to not lose face in front of his staff.this is a thai thing i never will understand.mai pen rai.

the thing we was served was a bit more than 50 baht lol.

Wow. In a truly bizarre incident (as described), for complaining about receiving -- after waiting FOR AN HOUR -- frozen food with foreign matter in it, a group of guys physically force you by your neck into a locked room and assault you and menace you to a degree where you are (understandably) afraid -- but that's not the primary issue and the place is OK except for the "food slip up".

Given that a number of popular bars on 2nd road that show football are owned by the police in Pattaya or have a police partner this might not be such a good idea.

no point only cause more trouble,the venue is a big place owned by thais,i live here with 2 kids so my families safety is more important

i dont know about you but i dont get someone saying there going to kill me everyday if i complain about the food because some staff messed up and because of loss of face this sort of thing happens.

^^Ermmm due to Thailand's rather strict defamation laws. Name and shame is also prohibited under Thaivisa's rules because not only would the poster be liable but also potentially TV.

last night a couple of friends and i went to watch football in a well know place on 2nd road,we orderd drinks and 3 cheese burgers,after 45 minutes the food still had not come.

i asked the staff how long it would be because we wanted to leave and go meet some friends,got 5 minutes food coming from from the girl

after 20 more minutes the food still had not come ,the second half of the game had started now,called my friends said we will be a bit late as the waitress said we could not cancel the food.

then a strange thing happend the food came and they said we had to pay for the food now.

can you not put it on the bill and pay when we had finished i asked . no cannot she said.

my friend bit into his and said it was cold and not cooked it was frozen still in the middle,i bit into mine and felt crunch,i pulled out a bit of string with a piece of plastic,i cut into the burger and there was a piece of something in there which was hard .i asked the lady if i could see the manager.

different girl comes over you pay now she says,i said can i see the manager i dont want to pay for this and showed her the string and plastic stuff.

she goes away a guy comes over ,you want problem he says i show him the objects ,after closer inspection it looks like bone.

he says ,u eat food already you pay now or you want problem,i say u eat it then i will give you 500 baht.

he then says right you wait, you get problem,can i just see the manager i say i want to show him this.

he goes away looking very angry.

next thing 4 guys come to the table the waitress takes the plates away,and the guy who i think is the manager says pay now with a face like he wants to kill me.

i say to my friends let me pay the bill and lets get out of here,i give the guy the money and sit there about 10 minutes waiting for the change.

waitress comes over and says the manager at the bar go get your change.

i walk towards the bar and grabbed by the neck and pushed into a side room by two guys.

the manager and two other thai guys are in there,i was pushed onto a sofa and the manager slapped me hard across the face ,and punched me in the side of the head.

he then says my staff say you come in here and start problem many night,he said i know you,i see you many time.

i say its the first time ive ever been in there,i said im sorry i just wanted to speak to you about the food and show you the objects that was in my food,i say i did not mean to cause a problem(i had to say this as i was scared for my safety)

he then said if i see you again i will kill you now go.

i got up one guy unlocked the door ,and left a little shaken

the bill was paid i got my change,but feel lucky i got out there only paying for the food we did not eat.

my friends where outside,i told them what happend and we left to go meet our friends.

in 10 years of living in thailand thats about the worse think thats happend to me so far.

its the first and last time i ever go to that place again.(think im banned now anyway).

some bullshit flying around,the electric is on in lamai i have wifi and dtac working and aircon on in the room,after 2 days with nothing big budda area, was told today it could be saturday and before its on fulltime ,they are also repairing lines in pai laem today so im not swollowing in this broken cable bullshit. boils down to the loss of face bullshit we all have to suffer because they wont come clean .

What a nice picture for our friend Buscholtz who were asking yesterday if we had any proof that it was actually the protestors who were responsible for the violence during the demonstration.

It was the protesters fault had nothing to do with the fact that they were protesting against the government.

The big question for some who are slow is why did the police send so many anti riot police to the demonstration and try to box them in to a small area with barb wire, They came prepared to provoke it.

Have they ever used any where near these tactics on the red shirt demonstrators. Of course not they did not want to turn them into violent situations.

It dosen't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. First the Government whips up fear of violence by claiming plans to kill there leader then they discover plans to kidnap Yingluck and others.

Some times I wonder if other countries have the same low standard of education as Thailand their posts would indicate it.

Yep those protesters saw that barb wire and were driven to the brink of insanity causing them to get violent, cut the barb wire and charge the police. Yeah, I agree that if the cops did not bring the barb wire the protesters would have not felt the need to cut through it and charge the police.

Now the number of police present made the protesters act like thugs and try to incite violence. I agree that if there were only 10 cops there the protesters would have been in their best behaviour and would have never attempted to over run 10 cops.

So your lesson to the government is that you guys cannot have peaceful protests if there is barb wire present and a lot of cops there. You guys see barb wire and cops everywhere will lose it and act like thugs.

I am sure if they promise to act nice next time Yingluck will use paper machette barricades and assign the 10 hottest female traffic cops as the security.
