  1. I have another problem on my iPhone 4S after upgrading to IOS 7: I am unable to delete the apps I used. Before IOS 7 i double clicked on the start button, so all the icons of the apps I had used showed up on the bottom. Then clicked about 2 seconds on the first icon and a red - sign came up. Then I could delete all the icons. Now I'm unable to. Are there other people having the same problem?

    Dario

You don't click for 2 seconds and wait for the red x anymore, you still do the double click and the apps will appear as icons and a larger "ghost" icon in the middle of the screen. swipe the larger icon up the screen and it will disappear off the top of the device.

  2. Hi all,

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I can't find a thread on Ito am afraid.

Anyhow, a friend is looking at buying a 2nd hand car, we know the docs needed (letter of residency for seller and buyer, copies of passports, visas, photos etc) and of course the blue book, but there is a but...

The owner of the vehicle had to leave thailand, and has left the car and book with a friend. He has the blue book but no power of attorney or anything. We met the owner whilst he was here so I doubt the car is stolen, but we are wondering how to transfer the car to the new owner.

We assume the owner has to sign a power of attorney (does it need to be original or will scan copy do?) plus copy of passport, but that leaves us a bit stumped on residency certificate and also copy of visa, and probably photos.

Any suggestions on how to do this please?

    Cheers

  3. It's to give "bunny ears" to make the person look funny in the picture

The reason people (mainly girls to be fair) make V signs in photos is that in Japan they think it looks cute. Where Japan leads, others follow. HK, china and Thais all do it now

  4. Thanks for the input guys, will try to get a test drive in one i suppose.

I have also recently taken a Nissan 350Z ( 2008 model ) for a test drive, guy wanted 1.8M for it - it was pretty quick and handled very well....

If it helps, I used to have a 2007 model 350Z in Hong Kong. Fabulous car - I loved the V6 engine and all that torque.

If you are looking to buy one, there seem to be two different specs for sale in thailand - the Japanese DM version is restricted to 180kph, other markets are not restricted. Look at the speedo, if it only reads up to 180 it's a JDM spec car.

Whilst 180kph is plenty fast enough for the road here in thailand, if you take it on a track day you will probably be disappointed :-)

I loved my 350z, and I wish I could afford one here!

  5. The way i see it is that the two different cards with the password and username written on them simply represent two very different personalities.

The bottom right is a girl who did it simply because you are a customer there, and as an employee it was her duty to get the jobe done.

So she got it done..she did it coz she had to. Thats it.

The one on the left shows someone who clearly put an effort into getting the job done and do what you asked for. For whatever reason she wanted the results to be pleasing.

Absolutely agree - I think that's really sweet of her to go to so much trouble

  6. I drove the Toyota, was great fun but to me not really a Porsche rival - different class. Designed with low power engine and skinny tyres, so is a huge amount of fun at sensible speeds. To have the same fun in a Porsche you will be going a lot faster, which here in Thailand I would guess equates to a lot more danger from scooters going the wrong way etc etc.

The Toybaru was designed to be a low cost, fun sports car, and I would love one, but with import duties here they are hugely expensive which is such a shame.

As for which one - Have a look at Top Gear review. They are so similar but they picked a winner!

  7. I have a small portable Garmin Nuvi which works very well. The other place you could try is Chai Autosound, on the bypass road between Tesco and Toyota Pearl, right next to the new Siam Naritawat show (or whatever it's called!). They have fitted GPS units from Kenwood and other brands as well. We just had one put in the car, 7 inch screen and a reversing camera for about 40,000 if memory serves. The 6 inch screens are cheaper but I think look a bit crap.

  8. Clearly, not complaining about this, but I would like to understand why. For example, couple of nights ago I sat with a mate having a beer, same table, even same bench seat. He got bitten 17 times - me, nothing! My mother gets bitten daily, my wife and her family - everyone apart from me. I have had one bite in 10 years!

As I said, not a complaint, but I wondered if anyone with a medical background might know why this is. Sometimes I wish I could bottle myself and sell it to other people as a repellant :-)

  9. My wife bought an i-mobile tablet for our 5 year old, it was pretty cheap (3 or 4 thousand baht from memory) and yes, he uses it for games mainly. We have put Skype on it so we can call him when we are away.

As for "robust", I doubt it very much, but as he is bound to break whichever one we buy at some point, we went for a cheap one which we will just throw away and replace when he does. No drama.

It runs Android and he can download games if he wants, there is no "account" linked to it so he can't purchase anything, just free stuff.

  10. Haha hilarious! He should find the foreigner who is waiting and sell it on to him :-)

I looked at a 3.2 wild track recently, was quoted 10-12 months by one dealer, and another guaranteed delivery before the end of December, which was interesting.

No rush as the current pickup still going strong, but might be nice to have a new one next year, especially if they update the face to closer to the new Everest :-)

  11. That's good to hear - Suzuki phuket dealer assured us the delay was with the CVT gearbox manufacturer back in January, and explained that's why he could supply manuals immediately from stock but no CVTs. Very pleased to hear its not that and all is well again. In the end we bought a pickup but I still like the look of the swift as a runaround for the Mrs. Might be tempted at some point :-)

  12. As I understand it - waiting time depends on the model. With swifts there was a delay with the gearbox manufacturer - if you want a manual it's immediate, a CVT takes a little longer. Having said that, Suzuki in phuket had two auto swifts in stock for sale.

Plus of course there was a surge in orders for the tax rebate but that should be sorted now.

For the Ranger it's a similar story - as I understand it, want a 3.2 and wait approx 1 year. Want a 2.2 and most dealers have some stock, but maybe not the color or exact model you want. Shop around to find a dealer with the one you want maybe?

I don't see any "thai v foreigner" conspiracy here. Just normal supply and demand.

  13. Coincidentally I drove through Song today and down the road in the National Park next to the river where they want to put the Dam. There were some signs on the road telling anyone who was coming to do anything related to the Dam to turn back and go away, their safety cannot be guaranteed!

There were some fairly angry looking people hanging around and the wife suggested we make a hasty retreat. It's clearly an emotional issue for the locals and I can fully understand why they would be worried about a google maps car, whether they have heard of an "Internet" or not.

Having driven through there today, I can confirm its a beautiful area. Wonderful scenery.

  14. If you make it over to Patong, I would suggest trying a restaurant called Oasis, it's at the south end of Patong on rat u thid rd (2nd rd) in front of the Blue Ocean Resort. I had a Salami pizza there last week, lovely crispy base, delicious!
