  1. What is herd immunity? Can it be achieved with COVID? What about re-infections and break-through infections? Immune people can't be reinfected.
  2. The document that I received at Bang Sue showed the first injection and an appointment date for the second. I received the same paper back after my second injection with the number 41 written on it and of course a second checkmark for waiting the 20 minutes after the injection. I asked a staff lady there how I could prove that I had had two shots. She said that I could do it through Mor Phrom using my passport number. That doesn't seem to be possible. I have tried to identify the hospital sponsoring the vaccination with no luck. There is only a hospital number at the top of the page.
  3. The girls at the front desk tried to register me on the Mor Phrom app but I don't have a Thai ID number so it didn't work. There is a hospital ID number at the top of my receipt from Bang Sue but the hospital name isn't given. It is not clear on the paper from Bang Sue that two shots of the AZ vaccine were given. What to do?
  4. The lady at Bang Sue told me that my passport number would work with Mor Phrom. It doesn't. What can I do to get a vaccine certificate? I will get a flu shot at Bumrungrad soon. Can I get the certificate from them?
  5. It is not clear what would happen to people over 75 if they leave and then try to re-enter Thailand. Would an alternative to the required insurance be available such as depositing 400,000 in a bank account with the money only available to pay medical expenses? I would like to visit family in America next year but will be 79 then. Perhaps I will need to send them tickets to visit me here.
  6. I don't have a 13-digit number and when I try to pull up my information on Thairuamjai.com, I get the message that I must register first but can't find how to do that. Could someone tell me how to register. Thanks in advance. I got my second AZ shot on Tuesday, October 5th.
  7. Where to get a second jab of AZ? Apparently Bang Sue is no longer giving them. I have an appointment to get my second jab there on October 5th.
  8. Where will the shots be available? I'm an over 75 who received my first AstraZeneca at Bang Sue on July 5th. I'm told that Bang Sue is not giving second shots any more and the hospitals and websites that I've checked are only giving first shots. Where will these second and booster shots be available? I hope that we are informed where to go or sign up later in the month. Why can't the local press publicize where the vaccines will be available. Why is everything here so <deleted>?
  9. According to a doctor from UCSF Medical School,. it's not just people who are outwardly obese. People who do not look fat can have a high amount of visceral fat. The villain is Metabolic Syndrome which produces all of the dangerous conditions: hypertension, diabetes, pre-diabetes, fatty liver, etc.
  10. Where can I get my second AZ jab in Bangkok? Bumrungrad and Bang Sue not offering any more and Thailandintervac is only giving out first jabs.
  11. Second jab not available. I was told by a St. Louis Hospital staffer today that second jabs are no longer available at Bang Sue. I am scheduled for a second jab there on Oct 5th. They have discontinued doing them due to a shortage of vaccine. Bumrungrad won't do the AZ second jabs. Once more it's a scramble for vaccines. I will check on Intervac.com to see what's available. So they're going to open Bangkok to tourism in October? With the mad scramble for second shots, it doesn't seem likelyvunless they just ignore to 70% vaccinated condition for reopening.
  12. The transliteration is not exactly correct. The "r" in the transliteration is only to get your tongue into the approximately correct position. There is no intervocalic sound uttered..
  13. Sorry about the wrong forum. I found the URL for Bangkok appointments but apparently that service is down now.
  14. Could someone kindly post the URL for making an appointment at Chaeng Wattana for a one-year extension of stay for retirement?
  15. COVID-19 is now an endemic disease meaning that there is no such thing as permanent immunity from it. Yesterday on Youtube, There was a video featuring a healthy young doctor with no risk factors who contracted COVID, received two doses of Moderna and then got COVID again. Recovering from the disease AND getting double vaccinated doesn't prevent you from getting COVID again, especially if it is a newer variant. People who have recovered and/or have been doubly vaccinated can contract the disease again because antibody levels decrease over time. Thailand has no choice but to doubly vaccinate everyone with an effective vaccine even if they have previously recovered from COVID. Only then may it become an acceptable tourist destination again. I think that all tourism will be down in the future. The BIG question is what variants or new pandemics will appear in the future. We may be wearing masks for the rest of our lives.
  16. Sending the report by mail (EMS) has always worked for me. It's never down. You can find detailed instructions on the blog under the topic.
  17. Herd immunity is a fiction. It is not possible. Vaccinating the entire population of Thailand would protect them from severe illness and hospitalization if their vaccinations were up-to-date. By the time that the authorities get everyone vaccinated, those who were vaccinated early on will be needing boosters. COVID is destined to be an endemic disease with everyone needing periodic vaccinations. The supply of vaccine throughout the world needs to be greatly increased.
  18. Various articles in the Post discuss planned vaccinations of school kids and others in future months but these appear to be single injections. Apparently the authorities think that a single shot provides sufficient protection. Sure. What could possibly go wrong?
  19. In today's Post, The chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce implied that the country would be able to open up and recover financially by the end Q2 next year when 70% of the population will have had one injection. By that time, people will need to have had three injections to be fully protected.
  20. That's 15 days before and 7 (seven) days after. If you can't go to report in person during that 22-day time period, you will need to teport online or by mail. Miss it by one day late or early and it will cost you 2,000 baht. IMO, mailing is the safest method.
