Prayuth, our beloved leader, is fed up with the negative stories in the press and rightly so, thus he has made an off the cuff remark and now more people attack him. He is doing a great job of running democracy Thai style and protecting the Thai people from a return to shut down this and shut down that (for those that can remember the circus of red and yellow violence and disuptions for their own elitist gains). Yep, he may be another 'elite' but 4 years of no big events disrupting our lives works for me. Thais are not ready for democracy western style .... argue all you want about that eh, but its my IMO.
Go Prayuth !

Where da 12% come from? Yup, a bit of BS research results eh.
Had a mortgage with Bangkok bank for 12.5 years, yr1 3% yr2 4.25% yr3 4.75% then to MLR which for the last 9 odd years has floated between about 5.75% and 7% and last 2 or 3 years stuck at 6.25%. To me fair and seems justified.
A mortgage in the late eighties in the UK started out at 7.5% then quickly went all the way up to 13.4% in 89 I think (housing crisis) leaving me living on beans on toast for 2 years as it went down oh soooo slowly.
In sum, this guy is talking poo and tbh you cannot compare across economies when it comes to MLR etc. Each country and its government 'should' set it thus to ensure their economy prospers, mortgage rates being one of those important factors.

Every mom and pop shop I know and go to will sell you a beer tomorrow, they're just trying to make a living, so no I won't be calling your hotline. IMO its a nanny state law for grown thai buddhist men/women and why can't non-buddhists have a drink anyway?

Clicked on this story and refreshing to read, something nice for a change. Great for the Thai fan and nice of Mr. Canton to oblige. Nice, a nice story on TV for a change.
However, those witty Thai visa guavas try to find the negative in all that is Thailand and troll their angle to dish the story or any story for that matter .... Sad innit ! Mann im getting so bored of this troll site, sry admin you do yer best with the garbage here but the garbage is in overdrive volume.
I often wonder why many of these posters stay here (or maybe they dont and are just international trollers). Agreed not all is great in LOS but come on eh, if you troll this story then there is no hope for you.
My rant over, and no im not a footy fan but its a nice story all the same.
Bored yet? Might just ban myself from TV

So yes it may be a step in the right direction but this bill doesn't allow or recognise same sex marriage. This is the big step which is fair for all and should be implemented in any society anywhere in the world .... up to each and every one of us who we decide to marry and should be allowed for social justice and fairness in any developing country.

Hmmm, this Danny should of just fobbed this chancers email but instead goes to the police while the press happen to be there ....hmmm. So Danny has a half baked half popular facebook page and now that original video has made him a net idol overnight with millions more views ...now this.
IMO he's milking it and trying to be the next mymatenate (remember that dude?). Sorry i am not going to side with this dude over what was originally a storm in a teacup. Hey hey hey, carry on milking it Danny and btw his thai vocab is basic and not 'excellent' as was reported by the nation last week. As you were.

Yup as to above jingthing. The guy has some issues (watch the vid in the cop shop) and a nasty gash to his head (possible concussion) and wonder how and when that happened. Yes, he could have arecord already. Yes, he could be a peado. But don't be too quick to judge him, there could be another explanation for his behaviour as unacceptable as it is. Yes, best place for him is back home and the authorities there will hopefully take a look into his mental health status.

Where'd the clip go? Watched it, then shared it with a Thai friend...and now it's not showing. Hmm...
Yep its gone, had a look too. Could be one of those "defamation" things ...or the TAT has blocked it to keep the buffalo tourist numbers up.
-
Orgies and hookers in Pattaya, whoda thought it. Guess they didnt ask the TAT beforehand if it was ok to bust some touirsts who basically go to Pattaya and come to Thailand for this very reason. Oh yeah, prostitution in Thailand is illegal, go figure.

Wow long thread. To the op: mate suck it up, maybe hope yer lawyer can get it down to 5 years. To listen to the advice here that maybe you can get back in, umm nope as you will be breaking the law once again, you the person has been banned and nope (as some sugggest otherwise) there are no loopholes. You put yourself in this situation and its caught up with you. Yep, move the wife out of Thailand and move on with your life.
Best of luck with a new adventure OP

So pats on the back all round. Pre military gov ....Songkran 2013 and 2014 322 and 321 deaths ...umm junta time: 2015 364, 2016 442, 2017 390, 2018 418.
So Mr. Prayuth is "pleased". What utter nonsense this government is when it comes to road safety ...I think its easy to see from the figures above that any of their initatives have failed. Go on challenge the root of the 'problem' if you dare ....has something to do with the police and their policing and why people here do not seem to respect them and the laws too. Go figure government, go figure .....ahhh i'm wasting my breath eh.

Well done the government on not making songkran safer than pretty much any other year ....as a perspective over songkran, 1 dead person every 24 minutes and 11 seconds ....acceptable the government?
-
The highways are insane here and yes its a 365 days a year problem and not just songkran. Average 64 deaths a day, thats a shed load of people losing their life, very sad indeed. Amazingly too, over 21 thousand drivers/riders busted for drink driving which to me clearly shows that the law is of little deterrent to people here. 21K in 5 days, wonder what the figures are like in more developed countries? Nonetheless, for me totally unacceptable but I dont see it changing anytime soon, sad loss of life everyday in Thailand with the me me me attitude of these drink drivers.

So no fire insurance and the government wont pay out quickly enough for a government school. Out with the begging bowl it is then. TIT

Regardless of what "settled" actually means, this is a relief for the dad and his boy after what has been a traumatic time for both. Well done dad, great news, and it's all behind you now.

A sad story indeed. As many pointed out, in developed countries you need the correct licence to hire a vehicle. Here in Thailand they disregard this on motorbikes, big or small. They just take your passport and if you mess the bike up then you have to pay otherwise no passport back, and yes the police will back the renter. Yes, by Thai law you need a licence to ride a motorbike over 50 cc, no licence invalidates all insurance claims domestically and internationally; no surprise there eh.
So it is easy to rent a bike here and so many do with dire consequences. A recent visit to a guest house nearby Suratthani hospital had 3 walking wounded who had accidents on bikes on the islands. None of them had a licence. Riding my big bike on KPG the biggest dangers were not the Thai drivers but the swarms of farangs on 125's making dangerous manoeuvres in front of me or coming towards me. Obvious to me that many haven't ridden a bike ever until on holiday in Thailand. To add to this, many in just a pair of shorts and nothing else tearing along without a care in the world ... great holiday experience until it all goes wrong.
So yes, Thais should not rent bikes to inexperienced riders aka those without a motorbike licence, but they do and I don't think this will change anytime soon. IMO the onus is on the farang and why he/she thinks this is ok to learn to ride a motorbike in Thailand, Thailand a country with a dismal road safety record. "Hey, this is just another story and its not gonna happen to me" I think is the mindset of many farang travellers, and thus more stories of the same sadness will countinue to be seen on TV.
Whoever was to blame for this tragic story doesn't alter the outcome. My heart goes out to the family in Australia.

"Intervene" a taboo word for ASEAN, just about sums up why the problem will continue. In a bloc surely the other member states can exert genuine pressure against another to change its ways. Sadly ASEAN is not effective on so many levels and this humanitarian crisis just goes to show how poor collectively it is.
Come on the other 9 member states, grow a pair eh.

Seconded.
Is this the words of a Nation reporter? No, I don't see this as "What a way to go" moment for anyone, and many TV members find it hilarious too that a man, for whatever undetermined reason, is dead in the gutter.
TV/The Nation very sad and a poor show eh. But then this is the garbage tip (or site) for Thailand.
Time 2 ban myself again from this site, but please feel free to ban me mods as I cannot find an "unmember me button" ....thx too for the mf mode applied to my user account too mods, nice one. I know the tricks as used to be a mod on a much more reputable site using Vbulletin.
Goodbye Thai Visa, enough of you and the donks that post here.
