In a thread here recently I was accused of fascist traits and that God had given me less than others. This is a veteran poster. Is this ok? Are we supposed to accept anything, just because its a forum on the net? Or can we expect some decency on the net also? Is this forum a place where you cant say anything bad about thais, because if you do you get labeled a racist?

Westerners never shower, and if they shower they use dirty water. westerners dont change underwear, thais are clean and change underwear. LOLs.

Definition of hygiene
"Hygiene, refers to the set of practices associated with the preservation of health and healthy living."
it doesnt only refer to personal hygiene.

yes i know. good thing this isnt serious. he he.
wrong, 'cause if you need someone else to get an opinion of a certain matter shows that you are not capable of one by YOURSELF.
have u lost your mind? a guy in this thread asked for my wife's opinion. please read the thread for the love of ....

yes i know. good thing this isnt serious. hehe.

my wife says that hot water is not used much because the weather is so hot, so it doesnt feel good. also, she says that many thai are laidback and dont want to clean toilet etc.
She says that many thai are not aware of basic hygiene. they just think about how to eat, how to get money for food, not bacteria.
many grow up in very poor villages, so even if they later go to live in normal apt, old practices linger.
About dead animals in the street she says that people not feel its their problem, so they leave the animal there. but some villages have people from the community that collect dead animals etc.
This has certainly become an interesting thread. I learn some things about thai, but maybe even more about farangs that live here. The responses from u guys give me an impression of foreigners in thailand. as always, some is good and some is bad.
cheers, wan and chr

we have talked mainly about the irony and sarcasm in the thread so far. Of course its hard for her to understand things like that. and we continually talk about things like hygiene, cleaning, hot water etc. she does think the knowledge of the usefulness of hot water is not well enough known. But i will let her answer more herself when she comes home from work.

my wife is reading this thread also. stop making judgments when u dont have knowledge about what you are saying. its possible to both ask locals and farangs.
-
glad to see the thread improving.
and i hope u can appreciate i dont really see a half full glass when my wife is called a thai look alike.
I have been to tanzania many times, a very dirty place. Also visited singapore, indonesia and malaysia. I agree with most on the comments about these things. My point was to focus on culture-specific factors in thailand that could be relevant. Maybe they like to have spiders in the bathroom for some reason, i dont know. Of course many live in open houses, and the border inside/outside is blurred. So cleaning inside seems somewhat strange for this reason maybe. But they do like to keep the floors very clean.
-
hehe. i just might do that. .
btw, I realized just now i am mistaken. Thailand is clean, my wife is african and i love abba.
-
we have several comments here:
.asia is dirty, so why think about why thailand is dirty.
-my wife is a thai look alike that can say something about this.
-a song was made about a nite in bkk.
-stay at home, it solves the problem.
great thread.

why is it so dirty everywhere in Thailand? Some places they dont seem to clean ever, like many bathrooms. Whats up with this? Is the reason anything more than lack of knowledge about bacteria etc?
cheers,
Chr

what does "make the pool a salt pool" mean?

we are looking to clean the water from a well on the property, so we have a bit of the same problem. My choice as of now is Pure cleaning system. Its based on distilllation.
But i think this system is too small for cleaning water to be used in shower etc. So, i am interested in hearing about cleaning systems for things like this.

I was in nan last week. They said the new office will open in pitsanulok.

hi,
Me and my wife are going to Chiang Mai for the weekend and want a nice hotel. We figure that some very nice hotels have not much bookings these days. So, help us find the nicest 4 or 5 star hotel!
We dont have any particular needs, we just want as much luxury as possible for the least amount of money

I just got married to a wonderful thai lady. we have same age, same education and same interests. so i cant relate to old guys marrying bargirls. but i do find my wife incredible in many many ways, and i am quite sure some of these traits are related to her ethnicity and culture.
Making A Wall Around Our Property
in DIY Forum

After a long time of evaluating what kind of fence to build, we decided to make a concrete wall, made of prefabricated concrete pillars. We did consider the normal it block wall, but we found it too expensive and timeconsuming to build because our land is so big. feedback on the maintainance of this kind of fence is appreciated. We are planning to paint it with oilbased nippon paint. 1 layer of base paint first.
Here are some pics from the building process.
