  1. Well it's a new calendar year, so you've got 2 border hops ((45+30) x 2), plus what's left on your current stamp. The current situation with the education visa's won't last forever, and it may well be business as usual by the time you've exhausted your yearly bounces. ...or else fly back home and obtain a METV. (Again, things may well have calmed down in 9 months)
  2. Really? That's why I thought it was an OA application i.e the insurance requirement. Thank you
  3. Yes, with my recent history ve or tv would be way too risky at the Bkk airports. (Tourist visa would probably be ok at other borders) Forking out for insurance on the Non-O would be a small price to pay.
  4. I went through the e-visa process. It clearly says Non-O retirement for 90 days. Documents required: 3 months bank statements showing £10000 + (or state pension) Proof of residence 90 days insurance
  5. Apologies if this has been asked before. I've been in Thailand for 18 months on tv/agent volunteer visa, and am now flying back home. I've since turned 50, and am looking to come back to Thailand next month and retire. I've followed the link from the Thai embassy website to the evisa page where I can select Non-O Retirement for no more than 90 days option. What documents are required for this? Can I then apply for a 12 month extension of stay while in Thailand? Is this a Non-O or Non-OA visa? Thanks in advance.
  6. Thanks Tim. Yes, that's what I was thinking. I don't need a tourist visa as I'll be switching to retirement, but I'm not sure if crossing visa exempt would be a good idea.
  7. Pattaya. Maneerat visa on Soi 13 gave me his number. I haven't asked any other visa run company.
  8. He said as of yesterday it's not possible for Education/volunteer and extension (which I took to mean covid extensions).
  9. I've been in Thailand for the last 18 months on tourist/ then agent volunteer visa, which expires next week. I've subsequently turned 50 and now wish to change to a Non-O retirement. I spoke to a visa run company, and they've told me that all border bounces in Cambodia are off limits to anyone who has been here with Education/Volunteer/Covid extensions over the last year+. Flying home and obtaining a 90 Non-OA is an option, but I'd rather avoid the insurance requirements, especially when it comes to extending it. Have the Laos borders adopted the same policy? Is it possible to maybe spend a night in Vientiane, and come back visa exempt? Or are there any other options? Many thanks.
  10. I'll soon be coming to the point of switching to a Non-o retirement visa for the first time and have some questions on the financial requirements. I'm not sure as to what's accepted and what isn't. Firstly, depositing 800,000 baht into a Thai bank account, untouched for 5 months is doable, but would require me to take out a small loan. I have rental income from 2 properties back home that yields €4000 (approx. 150,000 baht) per month into my home back account. In 2022 I have deposited over 800,000 baht into my Thai bank account (65,000 baht + every month from May to December, a little less for the first 4 months of 2022) I believe the 65,000 monthly option requires 12 months of unbroken 65,000 baht + deposits into a Thai bank account. Is this correct? How does the 800,000 baht security/65000 baht monthly combination method work? Would say, a 400,000 security deposit and reduced monthly be acceptable? As it's my first time, I'll be applying through an agent here in Pattaya. Many thanks.
  11. While it's a grey area, so called digital nomads are tolerated by immigration. There's plenty of co working shared offices in remote working hubs like Chiang Mai full of people like the OP. Pre COVID, Chiang Mai immigration actually made a statement to the effect that digital nomads don't interest them. People here doing jobs that a Thai could do, without a work visa...eg bar staff, English teachers or as evidenced in my gym, personal trainers.. that's an entirely different story.
  12. There was a similar company offering these IT work visas about 3/4 years ago. Immigration basically shut them down. The website you linked to provides no business address, email address or phone number. I would be very careful if I was you.
  13. He's probably refering to guys who keep themselves fit by going to gyms in general. Many of the soi buakhao porky pie ex pat's don't like these types.
  14. I used this service pre COVID to mitigate the 'why you stay in Thailand too much' line of questioning. It wasn't expensive (I think 1200 baht). An official looking lady met me off the plane and brought me to priority queuing, where it was just me, her and 1 smiling immigration officer. Stamped in no problems. Not sure what actual difference it made though.
  15. I think some people are confusing this losers gigantic floppy man tits with steroids/muscle. Guy puts on a wonder bra and wig and he'll be a knockout around Buakhao.
  16. Does anyone know what they're building behind Action Street on Soi Buakhao? (Between the soi 15 condos (The Urban, City Garden) and Action Street) I'm looking at condos around there, but that construction is spooking me.
  17. I know he's not returning on a reentry permit, but it's the closest report I have read that addresses his question. It was a first hand report by a poster here, rather than the second hand rumour posted here that the op is referring to. And I never said he couldn't return visa exempt. I recommended he come back on a visa, which is always the safer option when dealing with border immigration officials. It certainly was, pre covid.
  18. OP , don't listen to second hand rumours posted on this forum. Somebody did post a couple of months ago about coming back using a reentry permit attached to that visa, with no issues. The only thing I would suggest is to come back on a tourist visa rather than visa exempt, in case they try the pre covid ' you spend too much time in Thailand' routine on you.
  19. Yes for sure proof will be needed. I would say supporting documentation from the company you are employed by/contracted to, at a minimum. As anybody can register a company, these companies would obviously have to pass a certain criteria determined by Thai immigration, and proof would be needed of this too . And of course you are now registered in the Thai system officially as working from Thailand, so there's all the tax implications that go with that. Thailand operates a duel taxation agreement with most western countries, so there's now the chance that the taxation department in your home country will know that you're effectively living in thailand.
  20. The devil will be in the detail. You can be sure that what they propose will be designed to extract as much cash as possible. It's certainly won't be for their love of so called digital nomads.
  21. A special tourist visa that gives a 90 day stay and can be extended twice to give 270 days. ....so he's basically touting a visa that already exists.
  22. Yea you're right. Affiliation is the wrong word. What I mean is that they're not immigration staff.
