Can anyone recommend a tax consultant that's versed in duel taxation agreements. Specifically in relation to moving my tax liability as a 50% shareholder in a company in the UK, and employee of said company. Many thanks in advance.

Lots of people bum around for a year. I took a year out in my twenties and lived here with not a lot of money. So what? It's not a life plan. OP, ed visa is your best option to stay for the year. You won't have an issue getting one, just don't leave and re-enter during its duration.

Fair enough. Everybody's different. I don't find any of that stressful. If they up the 800 by 30/40%, it won't make any difference to me. As living in Thailand isn't the be all and end all for me, being able to take the 800k (0r whatever they may up it to), if and when I leave is obviously the sane option.

It's all speculation at the moment. Anyway, why would you throw away a million baht just because they may be upping the 800k money in the bank requirement?

Correct. And on the back of that Chiang Mai immigration issued a statement to the effect that they had no interest in digital nomads. You won't find a single report of any digital nomad prosecuted by Thai immigration. OP, you will have zero issues working remotely. Ignore all posts inferring otherwise. -
Having a tourist visa guarantees nothing. Other than Thai citizens, immigration can refuse anybody. In saying that, most refusals, certainly pre Covid, were guys entering without a visa.

Phuket airport has traditionally been one of, if not the worst, entry points for anyone with any sort of recent history of staying in Thailand of tourist visa's/exemptions etc. Even still, I'm surprised you were refused entry with just 5 months of living here, especially as you have a tourist visa. Fly into Chiang Mai, or use a land border.

It's a typical over the top nonsense reaction. Plenty of local scum in Thailand killing each other. 1 farang scumbag kills someone, and it's a full revamp of the immigration process needed. It'll all be forgotten about in a couple of weeks. The gravy train will keep on rollin'.

A criminal background check is required for the Non OA, so it would hardly be a stretch if they made this a requirement for the Non O's. But most likely absolutely nothing will change.

It's all a lottery. What I used to do while in the line was to gauge who 'appeared' to be the friendliest i.e. avoid the IO's who were stern faced when stamping people through.

Visa runs are most definitely not illegal. I've no idea what visa solutions you offer, but you really need to brush up on the basics to have any credibility.

Phuket is a notoriously unfriendly airport when it comes to people with extensive recent history, and imho would be a terrible choice. Chiang Mai would be a safer option.

This topic has been covered to death. OP , you will have no issues. Immigration have no interest in so called digital nomads. Before COVID Chiang Mai immigration actually released a statement to that effect.( Chiang Mai being a hub for digital nomads and shared office spaces)

Risky I would think. You would be hoping that the IO doesn't work out from your passport that you weren't in your home country when you applied.

Yes, and any immigration officer could easily figure out from the OPs passport that he wasn't in his home country when the visa was applied for and issued.

Relax. Immigration have zero interest in digital nomads. They are only concerned with foreigners taking Thai based jobs without a work permit. Why are you planning 2 years in advance?

Yeah you're right. I'd go one step further and reduce the initial 30 days to 2 days. That's more than enough time to eat a Pad Thai and visit a couple of temples.

Copy of passport pages will be sent to immigration for TM30 purposes, so immigration will know exactly where you are. I assume you don't have any long term visa, hence the question. It would be up the individual landlord as to whether they would rent to you. Most probably would, as they'll just keep your deposit if you leave early.

If you've done well enough to retire early, then why don't you get an elite visa? No more worrying about being questioned/refused entry, borders runs etc.
