We hired two local guys to dig a trench about 500 meters and lay the PVC pipe (1 inch) I purchased. Connected it to the government switch and meter. Total cost including the pipe was about 6,000 THB. I paid the diggers 2,000 for two days work. They dug down about 16 inches.

Not sure same situation as our house was a new connection so we had no meter yet....

  2. Was yesterday at our land to find out that the PWA (Provincial Water Authority) was installing water so when I asked my wife if she paid already, she said 'yes, done already' ????

As you can see, the plastic water pipe is installed just a few cm under the ground for only a few meters, they were in and out in less than one hour.

A well was not an option - as a few people wrote - as I have a well now but in the dry season it is empty many times so no water at the house......

I still think it is way to expensive but at least I have now a 2" water pipe with enough pressure to our new house.

  3. We recently bought land and are now building a house on it. We have already electricity from the PEA installed (3 poles, THB 10.165) and now we want water from the government as well. For a water pipe between two electricity poles (the distance from the street to our house) they charge us THB 14.473, this looks very expensive to me. Somebody told met that the first 20m is free but I can not find that on Internet. We have not a real road at the moment but a muddy road as not enough people live in our street to justify a new road. We are allowed to connect our water to the water pipe of our neighbors who installed this at there own cost, about THB 85.000 as it is far from the main road. Last, yes we have a Blue Book and we received our first electricity bill from the PEA this week as well so we have a REAL address.

  4. Hello,

I try to find information about people / companies that use Microsoft Azure but a search on this message board using 'azure' does not show one hit ????

Are there any people or companies that use Microsoft Azure in Thailand and would like to share their experience with me?

    Hope to read some replies.....

  5. Update bank account:

My extension of stay will always expire March 12th.

First week of December I transfer THB 420.000 from my bank account in Holland => Krungsri account that I will NOT use anymore till I get the "application of stay is under consideration" stamp in my passport ????

This Krungsri account is dedicated for this purpose only so I can not 'screw it up'. This also means that in March my money is long enough in my bank account.

The official rule is: first time 2 months, after that 3 months but longer and some more money is never a problem.....

Again this is at Jomtien in Pattaya, keep in mind that maybe at your Immigration Offices, the rules might be a bit different!

    My advice to everybody:

    - write down exactly what the Immigration Officer want, use my template for example, modify it or create your own

    - listen what they want: must be a savings account in your name only - this means do NOT open a joined bank account

    - letter bank and update bankbook must be same date of application, next day is NOT accepted

    - they want a handwritten map so do NOT give them a print screen of Google Earth

    - give them what they want, nothing more, nothing less.....

Last and not least always keep a copy of all documents for yourself so next year it will be a peace of cake and it is a peace of cake if you just follow THEIR rules if you like them or not, if they make sence or not - nobody is interested at Immigration in your opinion!

Almost forget, you also have to sign several Thai documents - no English translation - about overstay, sign them if you want your new extension-of-stay ????

    Good luck.

  6. Hi all,

This week I have to go to Jomtien Immigration office for a new extension of stay based on 'take car my family'.

I just read on the Pattaya Expat Club website that additional documents are now required:

Currently, any ‘extension of stay’ application (form-TM7) in Thailand requires

    • additional proof of ‘address in Thailand’
    • plus property owner’s details on form-TM30

Can people confirm that this is correct as over the last 5 years they never asked me about this.

If so, what is accepted for

    1) "additional proof of ‘address in Thailand"

Any bill from AIS / 3BB Internet will do I suppose, correct?

    2) plus property owner’s details on form-TM30

Found a copy of the TM30 when I moved in to my house 5 years ago, is this accepted?

    Thanks for your help

PS I am Dutch, not sure if that is important to know :-)

  7. I would like to open a shop on Shopify but run into several legal problems before I even started.....

To make it legal, I probably have to set up a Thai company with 4 Thai employees, few million baht registered capital etc etc

That is not going to work for a simple webshop....

Alternative I can setup using my wife as a proxy, maybe works in the beginning but I will later run into troubles I guess so not an option as well.

Setup a company in Singapore or Hong Kong is probably not working as well as I am not a resident of those countries.

Other options, open a 'Delaware company' or register your company in Estonia.

That is also not going to work for a simple webshop....

It looks like the only way to open a legal online store on Shopify is to go to the Chamber of Commerce in my own country to register my company there.

Then go to the bank to open a business account, then everything is in my name / company name.

Legally I need to follow now the rules for online webshops from my own country.

However, I receive the following answer from the Chamber of Commerce: 'You can register your company if you have a local visiting address.'

Now I'm back to where I was as I do not have a visiting address in my own country as I live in Thailand.

I am sure lots and lots of people run a webshop and are not based in their own country.

How can you legally run a Shopify shop from Thailand?

Can somebody push me in the right direction!

  8. Mattd: now I have ADSL as you can see in my print screen of my ADSL modem.

KIttenKong: 3BB told me exactly the same today, I need to buy a new modem for THB 800 and then I will have VDSL at home.

At the moment I have a TP-Link, N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit ADSL2+ Modem Router - Model No. TD-W8980

    In the manual it says:

LAN4/WAN, LAN3, LAN2, LAN1: Through these ports, you can connect the modem router to your PC or the other Ethernet network devices. Enable EWAN function and you will be able to
    connect to Cable/FTTH/VDSL/ADSL device.

Based on this I would say I do not need a new modem / router and can use my old TP-Link modem as well for VDSL.

Will check with 3BB tomorrow and let you know.

  9. The contract says 9.126/1.024 kbps but that is from 2012 and in the meantime the download speed has increased but my internet bill has not changed, always THB 963

    Test results:

    Download Speed: 15257kbps
    Upload Speed: 838kbps
    Latency: 32ms

Just received an advertising leaflet, if I would buy ADSL from 3BB today it will only cast me THB 590 and I pay THB 963, time to call 3BB!

  10. For the last few years I have 3BB VDSL and I am very happy with it, always working fine although I live in the boonies....

Every month I pay THB 900 or THB 963 with VAT, according to the website I should have a 150/50 Mbps connection.

When I look in my modem I see the following numbers:

As my Max Rate is 25.464Kbps, if I change my package from 150/50 => 100/30  will the numbers stay the same yes / no?

I mean now I pay for 150 and only get 25 so if I pay for 100 will I then still get 25 yes or no?

I have the feeling that I just pay to much and 3BB is not able to give me the full speed....

  11. Must be your first time at Immigration :-) Anyway, if you give Immigration a copy of your passport, draw 2 Parallel lines diagonally across the document copy and write something like "Only for purposes of Thai Immigration" & date (or whatever is appropriate) in between the lines. That is quite standard in Thailand when you need to give copies of important documents to all and sundry.
