  1. In the past I used AVG, Microsoft Security Essentials and now Avast, never any infection from any 'adult-site' - every week scan my PC with MalwareBytes Anti-Malware nothing.

    Looks like urban legend...

PS I don't say it is NOT possible just that every site is dangerous is not true in my opinion.

  2. It must be the FULL EXACT address as mentioned on your company registration papers!

When I purchase anything outside and pay in cash I carry a paper with me with 4 different address where companies are registered. Every purchase will have his own invoice and even a small mistake like 35 instead of 37 and invoice is rejected by accounting....

Do you mean you write your own receipts while at the vendor?

How does one make a purchase for the company with cash with a vendor issuing only cash register receipts?

Employee expenses? They can't be reimbursed to an employee for things such as gas, taxis, fast food stop (McDonald's), etc?

First I want a 'real invoice' - the Chinese shop at the corner only has a small receipt, accounting will accept that just to reimburse me, taxi don't have anything then it must be reasonable. A taxi from Sukhumvit to airport is about TB 200 - we all know that - so they will accept TB 200 and not TB 450. In general without any 'bills' NO reimbursement.

  3. Installed many version of Ubuntu and Mint and noticed that if you run weekly updates it is just a matter of time that your PC / laptop doesn't work anymore because of a software conflict.

Now I install Ubuntu or Mint, run the update and after that disable updates.

A few weeks ago, installed Ubuntu & Cacti working fine, did an update (yes I should have know better) and never was able to use it anymore.

I have three CentOS servers but will never update them, to dangerous that they will not boot anymore / stop working properly.

Microsoft Windows is the opposite - always run the update, never a problem - Linux don't do it!

  4. Recently I started working for a resort with several branches in the South of Thailand.

At this moment we have two accounting systems Sun (with Micros and Opera) and Carmen (with Amadeus and SunSys)

I need to look at a new accounting software to replace both Sun and Carmen, what software do you use?

    Requirements:

    - web based so no local installation of software

    - interface to Micros and Opera

    - interface to Amadeus

With so many hotels and resorts in Thailand I hope somebody can put me in the right direction as I am not that familiar yet with the hotel / resort industry.

    Thanks for your recommendations.

  5. Hello,

Last year I bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with GPRS.

Few weeks ago it informed me that there was a software update / upgrade available which I installed succesfully.

Notice after the reboot that it has now a 'Singapore look' (Allshare, B-Secure, Delite, MobileESPN, MobileTV, Mobitweet, Music, MySingTel, SingTelBPL and Starhub Gee)

If I switch off my Wi-Fi connection and switch on "use packet data" (so use GPRS instead of Wi-Fi), my browser keeps on telling me "Browser cannot load this page because there is no internet connection"

Can't use GPRS anymore now and I already tried to update again and hoped that there was an update available which removed all the Singapore programs, but no luck

    Any ideas?

  6. Dear all,

As it takes me a couple of hours to go to Bangkok and did not see a reply for more than a week after my last post February 22nd - first reply March 1st 17:07 - I had the idea that nobody was interested anymore ..

Looks like that I was wrong but that is to late now, sorry guys I let some of you down.

Will move to Hua Hin next week and try to start a new IT-group there.

Hope that this group will continue without me and the voucher is still available, just let me know who will take over the 'gavel'

    Cheers,

Next IT Meeting - my last one - will be next Thursday March 1st

  8. I am a Dutch national and have a baby with my Thai girlfriend and we are not married.

As I was not married I had to go to the Dutch Embassy in Bangkok with my pregnant girfriend and get a document from the Duch Embassy which stated that I recognize the unborn child as my child!

With that paper and the translated Thai document he was able to get a Duch passport as well.
