Under the new law, student loans for medical school will be capped at $200,000. The CHEAPEST medical schools are $270k with the median cost of non-state schools being closer to $370,000. Had this law been in effect when I went to school, I would not have been able to attend. Middle class families don't have hundreds of thousands of dollars to send their kids to school. This means medical school will now only be an option for the wealthy. Combine that with a devastation of reimbursement by removing 12 million Americans from medicaid and we are facing a catastrophe in who will be providing healthcare for generations.
