  1. My wife is insisting we buy a gun, first time she's ever mentioned it, and she is serious about it !!

So I called a friend who is in a gun club and has a vast selection of guns, he agreed to sell us a CZ 75 or a Glock Gen 4 as he has a few.

He insisted we needed a license (good on him) before he would sell us one, alas.....the Amphur is shut so cannot apply for a license.

Maybe it's a blessing in disguise, because I've never felt the need to be armed in the 12 yrs of living here...

Lol, sorry.  correct translation is  "when buying products  from 500 baht and above."

This is a google translation error!!

Just  ครบ 500 บาทขึ้นไป  translates correctly as over 500 baht.

    Beware google translations.

    correct, my bad.

Not a lot of good for me. Can't get an English version of the website. So can't see what or where it delivers. Seems more of a free advert for this delivery service rather than news.

    ส่งฟรี! เฉพาะในกรุงเทพฯ และปริมณฑล เมื่อซื้อสินค้าครบ 500 บาทขึ้นไป

Free delivery! Only in Bangkok and perimeter when buying products up to 500 baht

It takes 4-7 days for results to come back....unless they've found a quicker way already...

You can’t spend the money on something else... You have it locked away in a Bank Account awaiting your next renewal.

    Again.....Rubbish....

I just swapped from marriage to retirement last year, I do not need to keep 800K  "tied up" in my bank !!!

Not everyone on a "retirement visa" is "retired".....so for me I would be "wasting" money on an "Elite Visa"....refrain from "generalising everyone in the same basket in future ????

It's obviously not about a day at immigration a year ????

    - Airport : i would like to know how frequent this is, but i was on retirement visa extension, re-entry, and have been interrogated by a IO about anything, if i did the visa myself, if i had my bankbook, why i was changing address... Kind of not confortable.

    - When you renew your retirement or marriage, you never know, <deleted> happens ????

Last minute change like having to go outside to sort things could cost you a lot.

    - 90 days : now you are not sure it will be ok, could be a problem for the next extension (if you miss it).

    - You go under 400K or 800K just one time : your extension is dead.

    - Those could make a lot of time and stress at immigration.

    - And now the health insurrance.

    - You need a fix address (and a lease of 1 year at least i have been told last time) for retirement extension.

    - Etc.

NOTHING OF THAT with the Elite visa, right ?

Maybe the 90 days but you don't care if you don't, no retirement extension to do again with all papers.

All the "cheap" (i say with kind of humour) visas have been dramatically changed the last years. Overstays (yep i know it's not a visa), tourist, exemption (frequency), student, retirement (for marriage i don't know but there are some posts).

WHAT NEXT ? Because to me it's obviously not mistakes, as i said, Thailand does not need long-stay-farangs anymore, actually they don't want, unless you have money ! It's just business, easy to understand, Thailand is very business. And not a cheap country anymore.

No offense but those saying "hu, what, for 1 day at immig per year ?..." may have missed a few changes, or are in denial.

So... Looks much, much, better, if one can pay.

Will the Elite visa stay the same ? Probably, and pretty surely for the duration of what you largely PAID for (makes a big difference).

Cost : yes, Elite is gone money, but for quality (and certainty).

Retirement 800K for example is : you can get your money back BUT THEN GOODBYE EXTENSIONS (possibly re-doable but that's not SO sure...). Not really certainty.

Last : Retirement with 800K well is more than 500K Elite anyway too.

But i'm not here to argue. Just thinking.

So no report of problem with Elite Visa ?

I say I can be friend anyone. If polite person. I don’t care skin, where from.

Ok then...I will revert back to english...

So....all the people working in Homepro are drunk and lazy...?

The "young people" working in 7/11 are drunk and lazy...?

The people working in Makro are drunk and lazy...?

ALL taxi drivers are drunk and lazy...

Almost all Issan women are prostitutes...

Nothing misunderstood about your English at all....nah...

PS: you sure ?? you have a brain ??

I live in Ranong. I have many Burmese friend. Why not?

    64 group

    No.

Where you get your information. Khon Kaen and Mahasarakam university train doctors, engineers etc etc.

issan people are famous on TV, music etc.

There are many success Issan people. I go the Issan restaurant today, they have good money, sure.

    They good worker.

Oh you talk about the sex worker? Yes, everybody look down on that.

most issan woman is NOT massage worker. I think you go massage a lot right?

You don’t see the issan people who work in the office, bank, management, company etc, only the massage one.

Yes you right, Central woman smoke and drink more than Issan. But only SOME people.

I know farang like have the suntan. Up to you.

Impoverished? Maybe my dictionary wrong, but I don’t think thailand is like that.

Africa, Cambodia, not same as Thailand.

Have hospital, school, good society, so much food, job for everyone (and 3 million Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar people)

Sound like it you look down on educated people.

You only talk about Central and Issan.

What about the lovely North people and most wonderful South people?

The North have the most white  skin, the south very dark.

You think north people “hold me in contempt”? They not. Sure.

Also people from Nongkai (Issan) have white skin more than some central.

Skin color is important for beauty, not the real job. If I go doctor I not care about the skin color of the doctor, I care about the education.

Thailand is a good country, have a lot of the opportunity. If work hard, study hard and make your own business, can be success.

If lazy, then somnam naa. If lazy to study, train yourself, maybe you must work massage shop. Up to you!

I have friend from south, central, north and Issan. Muslim and Buddhist. No problem.

And woman, very success in Thailand (I think because like study well more than man)

Thai woman is number one in the world!!!

I didn't take her comments to be offensive to other Thais. Don't expect the Thais you meet to speak English or other languages. I have heard foreigners raising their voices but continue speaking English and expecting non-English speaker to understand.

It's very true that Thai English speakers have a lot more opportunities. That said if you want to function well in Thailand you need to learn Thai, but just as important to learn how to be respectful.

I welcome her perspective here. Thanks

I actually didn't say "offensive" however....I see why you didn't find it "offensive".....you're not Thai (nor am I)

I've never heard Thais running down Thais like that in my travels is what I was getting at, putting all those people in the one basket as she has..

Absolutely nothing to do with comprehending Thai or English...

The staff in Homepro, Makro, taiwatsadu etc etc are all lazy low wage people. To lazy to study, to lazy to work hard, to lazy to do self business.

if they not lazy, they will have a better job/better life. So can not expect much from this people.

7/11 is low wage people also, but they have good training. Also smaller shop, less worker, so is more difficult for them to hide and be lazy.

when I work the hotel before have one English woman complain so angry because the taxi driver can not understand her. They get lost. She say “stupid! The taxi driver should speak English!” So rude to him.

i tell her “If can speak English well, he will have better job than just the taxi driver.”

I've read a lot of your comments, some are very good in explaining a Thai's perspective on things, most I agree with..

However, some of your comments of late just left me thinking you're just a wannabe hiso who thinks that because you can "maybe" speak passable English that you're above all your fellow countrymen ?? Am I wrong ??

I've never come across a Thai running down their people to this extent.

    ALL Taxi drivers...low class

    ALL Homepro workers....low class

    ALL Makro workers....low class

    ALL Taiwatsadu workers.....low class

    ALMOST all Issan women....prostitutes

    All 7/11 workers.....low class

ALL Bar girls....well...I've read your opinion on that often enough.

    etc, etc....

I'm actually getting the feeling you may not be Thai at all......more like Burmese as there is a high population in Ranong from Myanamar

Wouldn't a Hotel receptionist be low class as well ???

What, in your opinion is "low class" ......??

    Cheers ????

How did they find him? TM30 submitted swiftly by the hotel he truly stayed at, and police rushing to the scene to point at him?

I am sure there is a lot more to that story.

Not putting the correct address on a TM6 form would certainly not result in such an action.

Sorry folks.....should of added a 55555 on the end ????

Let's say I book a hotel from Thursday to Friday (1 night). My flight arrives after midnight, so my entry stamp is actually dated on Friday. But wouldn't the first TM30 show i checked in on Thursday? And if I move to my final destination on the following day, the second TM30 would show me staying at a different hotel than on my arrival card from Friday to Saturday. Would they wonder why a hotel shows me staying there before I even arrive?

Make sure you get it right, once had a friend who had an acquaintance that had a work colleague who put the wrong address on his form.

That very next day before checkout, his room was stormed by immigration and was deported on the first available flight and blacklisted for 25 years !!!
